Malaysian Cuisine is known as a fusion of the best of Asia. Our restaurant pays homage to the Malaysian spirit of openness, innovation and "mix and match" to create amazing culinary experiences. As an extension to our highly popular restaurant in Oxford, Zheng Chelsea brings in what we do best to London - delicious food, excellent service and cosy ambiance.
Our first visit and we will be regular visitors Very enjoyable dinner , tasty food with good sized portions . The service was first class thanks to excellent attentive staff . Good value for South Kensington .
It started well, good atmosphere and service, they took our coats, starters came out promptly (the platter for 2.. it was ok..) then we seemed to get forgotten about for about an hour. Our table wasn’t cleared between courses, empty aperitif glasses not cleared so I had to put them on table next to us and then still not cleared. the busy restaurant (Saturday night) started to empty. Staff wiping down empty tables whilst ours needed clearing, and clearing up around us as we were starting to wonder if we were invisible. Main course when it arrived came out cold and we had to send it back to be reheated, so we’re sitting even longer in this now empty restaurant. I had to take a napkin from a neighbouring table as I needed a fresh one. There’s no one looking after us now. Our table for 2 was put back to a table of 4 as we’re still eating - they are really starting to close up the restaurant now - Then the only table still going was a birthday of teenage girls who started taking photos of each other, posing around the restaurant, aided by the waiting staff. Very strange. Don’t think Giles Coren would have rated it as highly as in 2017! Really disappointed.
Wonderful service with excellent food. The staff were very accommodating for my group as we were celebrating a birthday! It’s fantastic for groups but also for intimate dates as the atmosphere was just right. Thank you to the staff for being wonderful!
Nice little place with a warm, cosy decor and plenty of great seating. The food was fantastic quality, and the prices were fairly reasonable. I'd recommend this to anybody looking for good Malaysian food in a comfortable, quiet setting.
Great food and service!
I came here quite recently for a friends birthday. It was amazing, the food was delicious, the ambience was relaxing and felt very high end overall. The service was good and in particular there was one guy that was very helpful which was nice. Will be coming back here!
Attracting quite a young and trendy crown (by Chelsea standards), a really-good all-purpose Chinese restaurant, offering most of the classics, but a bit of flair (and a Malaysian twist) too. Slightly odd selection of pop-classics on the sound system - haven't heard some of those numbers for a while! - fail to dent a very good all-round experience.
Excellent food and amazing service. Waiting staff were very attentive and extremely helpful.
- Satay chicken
- Sweet and sour sesame chicken
- Cereal prawns
- Hot and sour soup
Excellent Malaysian food in a smart restaurant with very good service.
Good service , good food ..fried rice was amazing..recommend it
We always enjoy eating here as the food is consistently good and the service pleasant and attentive.
We had a great experience with the family. We let them pick and thus chose Course Two. Plenty of tasty food.
Best value lunch in London! Delicious. Excellent service.
Food was lacklustre and mediocre flavour. A couple on the table behind were obviously a VIPs as they arrived after, were served first and attended to constantly whilst our attempts to get attention went mostly unnoticed.
The decor is nice particularly the clever use of the mirrored entry and nice glass screen to the service stairs. Will not be going back.
Fantastic food and service albeit priced slightly on the higher side.
We are a family of seven ranging in age from 11-77 years. We all loved our meal at Zheng Chelsea. The King Bao, just spicy enough, was my favourite and Mango Chicken was delicious. We had the prawn spring rolls and coconut rice and the mango pudding were all delightful. The service WAs welcoming and polite. We all would recommend this charming Malaysian Restaurant.
Very good food and flavors, as well as a very attentive personnel. Perfect place for Asian food lovers with very interesting combinations while being loyal to the traditional Chinese and Malaysian cuisine.
Had only been for lunch before but all our group loved our dinner here
Starter platter was exactly what we wanted; sauce with the chicken satay was top notch. However the roti canai with chicken curry was a big disappointment - not at all typical of the classic Malaysian dish. So overall cannot recommend that.
Every dish was perfect today. Crispy shredded beef and mild chicken curry.
Amazing reviews online - but in reality, the food was really not very nice. It came out so quick.. could have been from a buffet Thai. Definitely wasn't fresh. So so average. Such a shame!!
Ok food and service
Amazing food, amazing service, great value aswell. Will definitely be returning :)
Best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Service was great, would definitely be coming back.
Excellent service and the food served was of high standards.
Great food, lovely waitress. Only downside was it was quiet in restaurant but that wasn’t their fault. On the pricey side but definitely will return
Zheng was fantastic. As far as Malaysian food goes, this was pretty much for dining, but try were able to maintain the street-style flavour and essence which we impressive. Their Nasi Lemak was one of the best I've had. The ambience of the restaurant was stunning too, not too big and not too small either. The only thing I'd criticize is one of the staff members. She was very rude, unfriendly and kept ignoring us at one point. The other waiter that worked with us on the other hand, was very warm and welcoming.
Would definitely go again.
As always, it was a great experience. Fantastic food, lovely host, nice waiters... I totally recommend this restaurant!
Way too expensive for the quality of food available. Food is nice, but not that nice.
Amazing food in a beautiful setting with wonderful service. Everything we tried was spectacular, very nicely presented and amazingly fresh! Loved the entire meal.
Always an amazing experience. Wonderful food, beautifully presented and impeccable customer service. I recommend this place without any reservations and I already cannot wait to be back!
Loved the food here, the ambience was very nice and staff members were helpful.
I’ve been here with friends a few times before and food and service were always good. However I was disappointed with last night’s dinner. Everything went well until tea. My female friend and I happened to pick the same kind of tea - mint. When the tea came, we got 2 cups but only 1 teapot for us to share - same standard individual sized teapot that our male friend got to enjoy himself. We explained that we had ordered 2 tea but we were told that they charge per person and that they could add more water later anyway - oh how generous! When the bill came, we indeed got charged for 2 tea when in fact, we only got 1 standard individual sized teapot . My friend and I felt robbed and disgusted. And no, we did not bother to ask for more hot water! They can add that to their cost savings.
great service and great food, the staff are really nice and for what you get the price is good.
Great food, good hosts and atmosphere. Will come back.
The food was really good, we had a few dim sum dumplings, soup and the sambal seabass which was delicious. The service was a bit lacking, the food took a long time to be delivered, maybe 30-40 minutes between appetizers and mains. At no point during this time did someone come by and offer any additional drinks or anything. However, it was not a deal breaker, and I would try again.
The food was tasty but had a lot of MSG
I had booked a late lunch on Saturday for 3 pm and when I entered the restaurant it was completely empty. I stayed till 5:30 and the restaurant remained completely empty till then, so not much of an ambience. As we were the only ones in the restaurant staff were really attentive and service was quick. I enjoyed the duck pancakes however the chicken sui mai lacked flavour and was quite watery on the inside. We had ordered the two main dishes which were marked as very spicy in the menu, however they were disappointingly not spicy as all.
I need to admit we arrived really late for dinner, around 10.30pm, but if you accept my reservation I pretend to have a dinner like anyone else before me, not just a few things warmed up and served.
The crispy beef was so hard to chew and the noodles were cold.
I left really disappointed
The food was very good but service was terrible, very surly, my partner was presented with a prawn version of a dish when veggie had been ordered, no apology and very slow replacement which meant she ate alone or my food went cold
Expensive bottled water was served Luke warm, had to chase for beer order twice
Would not return, food let down by the worst service I have seen in London for some time, no surprise that the restaurant was virtually empty!
