I visited Zest for my birthday and loved it! I picked Zest online based on their wall lined with sansaviera plants. I ordered sushi, the raw and steamed oysters, mussels, and a glass of rose and everything was wonderful!

I have dined here several times and consistently the issue is the same.
The food is always outstanding but the service is sub-par to say the least.
I dined with a party of 9 this time. The hostess was excellent. The food was phenomenal but the service was terrible. Clearly, the server was new. Why assign him a large party? I had dirty dishes piled up on the table for most of the meal until I stopped a random server, and politely asked her to help. She then proceeded to have an attitude as if I was bothering her. Matter of fact, OUR SERVER did not clear one single plate/glass from the table. Can you imagine how many dishes are on a table for 9 people ? Our drink orders took a good twenty minutes, the second round was almost forgotten about.
Bottom line, I would dine here more often if the front of the house could reel it in. The chef gets 5 stars across the board but the service gets a single star. This has happened the last 3 times we have dined here.
We were seated quickly and found a menu to suit everyone. The red snapper and sushi were fantastic. This is a great local spot with friendly service and a menu offering many fresh options. Thanks to Adam and Hannah for a delightful meal out. We will be back more.

We had a party of 8 people with different tastes and Zest was able to satisfy us all. The service great and the food was amazing. The GM Mike made sure the we felt at home. This place was the perfect dinner location right on Canton St. 5 stars!

Our waitress SAVED our night by being responsive - she was the only one.
We had a 7:30PM reservation and by 8:15PM, we still had not been seated. The drinks at the bar took 15-20 minutes to get after you ordered. It was told to us that they were short staffed, but that should be disclosed at the time of making the reservation or even when we show up so we can make alternate plans if needed. We had plans for after dinner and didn't even sit DOWN until 8:35, so we finished up very late and missed the rest of our evening.
I understand that during the holidays, it can be tough to staff considering those that want time off. I think what bothered us the most was the lack of empathy from the bartender (who I believe was the restaurant manager too because he seemed to be the one everyone was reporting to) and his attitude. Yes, you may be short staffed, but I think many would agree that if the SERVICE and CARE is there while you have to wait, that goes much further than anything else. Just give a darn that you have customers PATIENTLY waiting (which most would not have, most would have been raising hell or left) and treat them as such.
It truly was our waitress that saved part of our night by acting like she cared!
We had a wonderful family outing for our daughters birthday. Many thanks to the chef and staff for making our night memorable.
