Located on the sixth floor of the brand new Gateway Building on the South Side of Bethlehem, Zest offers New American fare with spectacular 180 degree views of Bethlehem. Features of the restaurant include a partially open kitchen design, an open air balcony, two completely private dining rooms, an open concept bar seating 22 guests, a huge bar area with comfortable banquette and high top seating, and a corner lounge with the best views in the space.
Great views from almost everywhere in the restaurant. Our server was amazing! My husband and I each had the grilled green salad which was excellent. He had the filet which he really enjoyed and I had the lobster. The butter emulsion was very tasty and the lobster was sweet. It came with bok choy and a scallion Yukon cake which was bland. We topped dinner off with a coconut creme brûlée with pineapple and berries...delicious! We will definitely return.
Our waiter provided recommendations (of 3) on the appetizers, beverages, entree and dessert and he nailed it. Superb service, tasty food and wonderful atmosphere
While we enjoyed our meal and the service we received from Carol; there was a bit of initial disappointment. When we arrived, the couple before us did not have a reservation and were told that although the outdoor area was a forty minute wait, they could be seated inside immediately and were. We had a reservation and were told that our table was not ready. We had a drink at the bar and observed at least ten empty tables. We were finally seated about fifteen minutes after our reserved time. I did not understand the delay under the circumstances. The couple before us got a booth with a nice view while we were seated at a lower table with no view. Poor decision by the hostess staff in my opinion.
Excellent food and service with a wide variety on menu.
Very disorganized at the front...many people standing waiting for tables yet many tables were open and clear. We made a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes (for a high-top) and there were 3 open. Also, there should be better signage in the parking garage -- at the very front, telling you where to park.
Nice place, good view of the Lehigh valley, nice dinning room. Very good service, good cocktails. Mediocre food offering, had scallops which were a little spongy and sandy also $28 for four scallops not a great value. Salad was wet would have been ok if it was rinsed and dry but no luck. Beef short ribs were actually good.
My advice go for the ambience and the cocktails and have an appetizer. Have dinner elsewhere.
Sea scallops cooked to perfection. Looking forward to going back.
Food is highly variable - clams and arugula salad very good , filet mignon, tuna tartare, scallops not very good and portions quite small. All in all - mediocre. Staff very nice but way understaffed, including. behind the bar. Pricing is low.
This was the second visit , not much better than the 1st , will not hurry back
Very disappointed with the food. Mediocre at best. Felt like food was sitting in back and just heated up when ordered. Like having a TV dinner.
King salmon was bland and we were told chef cooked it medium, it was less done.
Wanted to relax and have leisurely dinner.
It took less than 5 minutes to get appetizers and we were in and out in 45 minutes. Nothing could have been made to order.
We had a very nice meal at Zest. The service and food were very good. A little bit noisy.
Plan on returning in the future and will recommend it to family and friends.
Wonderful ambience even at lunch time - would be exceptional on a nice evening to be out n the terrace. My filet was absolutely delicious and cooked to order, but tiny. Side dishes were good too, other diners enjoyed their lunches, but thought the protein in each meal was also skimpy.
Father’s Day celebration.
great outdoor seating on the rooftop overlooking Bethlehem. Cauliflower appetizer and short rib entree very good, service could have been better, seems like too large a space combined with a large crowd and the use of runners who don't know which tables are getting their food
Good was delicious but service was awful.
Went there with another couple and had a great meal. The duck breast was out of this world. The other couple loved the filet and the specialty pork chop.
We enjoyed sitting outside for the first time. The waitress was very friendly, the food was very good and my basil gin drink was excellent ( except for the wilted basil ). Overall, a very pleasant evening. Thanks !
Zest is a wonderful dining experience! Food is well prepared and well presented. Service was excellent as Rachel was quite attentive without being intrusive. Great view and great menu! Second visit and will go back. Consistently delicious!
Our waitress Ashley was incredibly sweet. It was a bit loud but as to be expected. Wish they had a little bit more options
This is a fantastic restaurant ! I am from the philly main line and wish we had something with this type of vibe in our area.
Pre-concert dinner, loved the patio. Service was very good, food excellent, desert was disappointing, but overall, great dining experience, and most certainly will visit again !!!
My second time at Zest...has become one of my favorite restaurants! Service is wonderful....our server, Rachel, was fantastic....friendly, helpful and professional, definitely an asset to Zest....and the drinks, appetizer (Roasted Shrimp), salad/soup and entrees were all fantastic. I am gluten-free and I really, really appreciate all of the gluten-free options on the menu. Thank you for that! This kind of restaurant in the Lehigh Valley is hard to find; I wish them continued success!
Excellent all around. Desserts, including ice cream, are made in-house. The grouper over forbidden rice and broccolini is heavenly. Beautiful space inside and out with lovely views of Bethlehem. My new favorite restaurant in this area.
i’m just upset that I couldn’t order drinks because I didn’t have my ID. i feel like the avocado toast appetizer could have been better if it was cut up and already on the toast. It was difficult to spoon and spread it out.
My husband and I received a gift card for Zest as a Christmas gift. We decided to use it to celebrate our wedding anniversary in June. When I made our reservations, I noted that it was for our wedding anniversary. We were greeted at the front desk with "Happy Anniversary" and shortly after we were seated at our table, a server brought us two complimentary flutes of champagne with another "Happy Anniversary" greeting. It was the beginning of a wonderful evening: our server was excellent, the food prepared to perfection, and the view, particularly the sunset, stunningly beautiful. I'm looking forward to my next visit there!
I found out about this place being that Grille 3501 is one of my favorite local eats. This place is owned by the same people and it shows in the service and food. Some menu items are similar to Grille 3501 but we tried a few new items. We had the lobster risotto, very good but very large portion and lamb. Lamb was cooked to correct temp and was seasoned well. Dinner was the bone in veal chop, also very good, (huge portion) and paired with carrots and something similar to stuffing (don't eat this if you are not an onion fan like me). Dessert was a macchiato cheesecake, so good! The coffee flavor did not overshadow the cheesecake taste. We will be definitely be back.
This was our first time there. The food and service (Everette) were outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Going back for the lamb chops app.
Friendly bartender and good service.
This was our second visit, this time on a Thursday night. Between both visits we had 10 entrees and lots of apps. Avoid the scallops, three of the 10 dishes were just OK. The risotto was bland and the scallops were too fishy. Instead get the duck. It’s delicious. If you get the veal chop, ask for a center cut. Mine was an end cut. Delicious but not as meaty. Once on each visit we sent a drink back because the second was not as good as the first. Some consistency there is needed. Apps are all very good.
For the second visit we ate outside. The view is nice, the sunset was pretty and street noise is low. The floor is not designed for dining. It’s a rubber mat laid over a rubber roof so the seating area follows the contours and leanings of the roof. Our table was crooked.
Tip: in warmer months park at the top floor of the garage and walk across the open air bridge for nice views of the south side.
Fantastic food, drinks and service!
We sat outside and it was great weather. The service and food were exceptional. Can’t wait to go back.
Great time at Zest. It was my wife’s birthday and they had a special table with a view and bottle of Prosecco chilling for us at my request. Great service, knowledgeable wait staff. Varied menu and everything we had was cooked well and very delicious. The space is great and has a ton of ambiance.
We had a great time at zest. The food was great and the rooftop terrace was beautiful. Our server was helpful with suggestions however was a bit slow to respond to requests.
We ordered the fried cauliflower expecting it to be lightly or flash fried however this is a deep fried dish. Be prepared for a filling appetizer.
We ordered the avocado with fruit salsa and it was great! It was soft and flavorful. The bread was a bit basic with it (maybe consider changing it to a crostini) but overall very good.
We ordered the shaved asparagus salad and this was phenomenal. The serving side was perfect and all flavors worked well with each other.
We ordered the peanut butter and jelly torte which was more of a chocolate cake with a smear of peanut butter on the plate. Not sure where we were supposed to get the jelly flavor from but either way, the cake was delicious. Very rich.
Lastly, we ordered the sorbet and these were phenomenal. The flavors were smooth and refreshing.
Overall we would go back. Especially for the sunset view.
Loved the view and modern atmosphere. Food and service excellent. Thanks for the "subsidized parking".
We sat outside on the patio overlooking the steelstacks. It's a perfect spot for lunch with the girls, your sweetie or even a quick business lunch. We can't wait to go back!
Food was perfection. Drinks were delightful. The views made it fun for our out of town guests. It was nice they validate parking.
amazing food and amazing service
This was our first visit to Zest and will definitely come back. We have been to their sister restaurant, Grille 3501, and I’d have to say, I think Zest is better. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the awesome view on a beautiful night.
We went with some friends and tried two appetizers, the chicken dumplings and the bone marrow. The chicken dumplings were awesome!!
As for entrees, I had the veal. It was good, but I will get something else next time.
Overall, we had a great night out. Service was excellent!
Everything was really good. We had some guests in town and they loved the view and the menu variety.
Great atmosphere and view of Bethlehem! The filet was delicious. Staff was friendly and efficient.
