A molecular gastronomy experience! Outstanding and creative food paired with superb service
Whenever we visit Charleston, we always plan to have dinner here and it was excellent as always. Worth the drive from Washington DC.
Went for anniversary dinner. Beautiful setting out in the courtyard. Food was good, but not outstanding. Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. It was pricey, but it is Charleston.....Feel like we checked a box in going there but with so many great places to explore, we probably won’t make it back there for awhile.
One of the best meals my wife and I have had. Ever.
Food great. Over priced. Waiter pushed us to higher priced fixed menu. Spent $280 and were made to feel cheap.
Great food annoyed by rock music and service asking “how are the first bits”; not expected or appreciated in a high end restaurant.
Very interesting and well prepared menu. Very knowledgable staff regarding the details of preparation. Will be back and will recommend Zero to our friends.
Always an amazing experience from service to the beautiful food. The BEST restaurant in Charleston!
Portions small, not informed about the extra charges on a fixed price menu.
Lovely setting, excellent service, artistically beautiful food
, but not memorable in terms of taste. The pork was tough and needed more flavor. The dessert was good. I'm sorry to say nothing was exceptionally delicious. We love the environment, the setting, and everything about the ambience. We were there to celebrate a birthday and were hoping for an exceptional dinner. Hope this helps because we want to see you succeed as a great place.
Anniversary. Waitress and host congratulated us. Awesome dining experience.
The restaurant is definitely unique and the dining area is so lovely for outdoors. Beautiful Japanese Maples and a nice fountain. Menu is a we bit confusing and high priced- but for a special occasion- Zero will surely please.
Hopefully next time we go the menu will be varied with other local fare. I had the snapper - and honestly I’ve had better. I prefer whole snapper. More flavorful. 3 items to choose from is a bit narrow- but i understand the chefs focus.
I give the food a 6 out of 5!!! My goodness it’s spectacular. Creative and exquisitely prepared. Perfect flavor balance, lots of texture intrigue and visually stunning. Some of the best food we’ve had second likely only to Alinea in chicago. Better than per se in NYC and McCradys in Charleston (which we truly loved BTW).
It’s a small and entirely charming spot, very romantic and intimate. I only wish it was a bit warmer when we were there to sit outside in the gorgeous and quaint courtyard.
Our only complaint is the wine pairing. It wasn’t very well paired. The wines were great and very interesting and the staff was knowledgeable about the wines and the wine makers. The wines acted more as palate cleansers versus palate enhancers. Only the final dessert course truly felt like a great pairing choice. McCradys does a better wine pairing in Charleston. But Zeros food is far more masterfully engineered and imagined.
I’d go back again for sure, I think once they master the wine pairing this place might be the best in Charleston.
My wife and I had heard good reviews of Zero from friends so we decided to give it a try. Parking was convenient but finding the entrance to the restaurant proved a little difficult. The main entrance looks like you are entering the kitchen area but I guess this was by design.
Once we had entered, we were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated in the mostly empty restaurant. Our server came and greeted us and helped us with our drink orders. The cocktail was very good, never would have thought to mix Scotch and Madeira but it worked.
Our server was very helpful and gave us friendly and helpful service throughout the experience. We decided to go with the tasting menu with the wine pairings.
The wine pairings were top notch. We just did the base wine pairings, not the upgraded pairings, and we were glad we had as we enjoyed all of the pairings except for the dessert wine.
The food was unfortunately the weak link in our experience. I feel like form was put before function. The presentation ideas were well thought out for the most part but on the palate they were mostly bland, under-seasoned and seemed to be unenthusiastically prepared.
At over $400 for two people this was comparable in cost to that of the tasting menu at McCrady’s but had less than half as many courses and there, each was an adventure. At Zero each course was at best a little boring and neither of us even finished half of the Beef Wellington.
The pasta course was the highlight of the main courses, but the dessert was the only winner of the night. We upgraded one of our dessert wines to the Madeira flight and it was well worth the upgrade as it was far better than the standard pairing and it was generous pours of great Madeiras.
I wish them well and hope they find success as it’s a nice location and a cool concept but McCrady’s food is so much better that I don’t think we will return to Zero anytime soon.
Zero was an amazing dining experience! Every bite from the "snacks" to the dessert was impeccable. The service could not have been better. It is definitely an experience - not something you want to rush through. Great for special occasions! Worth every penny!!
The tasting menu was delicious. Especially enjoyed the wine pairings.
Awesome. Perfect dinner.
We had a wonderful evening at Zero restaurant. Really a lovely place with a great atmosphere. We enjoyed a tasting menu with pairings. The food was creative and beautifully presented. The only thing we didn't like was the pairing of crab with beer. I am not a beer drinker, and would not expect to be drinking beer with a nice dinner. We also did not care for the beer-like "dessert wine." Otherwise, we enjoyed the tasting menu, and the ambiance is off the charts. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive.
Zero George never disappoints! Amazing creative cuisine and outstanding service. I highly recommend.
Two delighting experiences. Distinctive food and knowledgeable, gracious, staff. Great fun.
We went all out and had the tasting menu- many courses with wine pairings, even the caviar. It was all fabulous! Each dish was artistically prepared and presented, wonderful flavors, colors, and textures with imaginative presentation.
The server was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly. We had only two comments - We would have liked a much more generous serving of the accoutrements with the caviar (I know - such a problem!!) And one of the wines I didn’t care for, but good news, they changed it right away.
Well done, All! Thank you. We will be back.
PS We’ll order the three course tasting menu next time. It will be plenty. Now we know what you can do! Thank you!
Extremely creative menu. Delicious food. Great Service. As good as I've had in Charleston.
Absolutely charming atmosphere small inside area & garden, lovely gathering areas for cocktails . Service was very attentive (without being overbearing) and very pleasant, and they were well informed on the tastings and the wine pairings. A must for something special
We live in Mt Pleasant and Zero Restaurant is our favorite Charleston spot. We’ve dined at Michelin starred restaurants all over the world and the food + service are on par. The presentation and beauty of the dishes are as palatable as the food itself. Additionally the ambiance is charming and quaint without an once of pretentiousness. Five stars!!!!
Brilliant food , service and atmosphere!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EVERY TIME
Great all around. Only issue was very low light at our table outside. Could not see our food.
Great service! All the servers were pleasant and properly attentive. We sat upstairs which was quiet and a nice atmosphere.
Lovely in every respect.
We arrived a little before our reservation and were told that they were not yet ready to seat us. No problem. We found two seats at the intimate bar, where the bartender was seriously focused on delivering orders for cocktails as received, while acknowledging our presence. The innovative cocktails we selected from the menu did not disappoint.
Before we finished our drinks we were invited to come to our table in the very intimate dining room. The menu was presented and while we contemplated the tasting menu, we chose instead to order a la carte. The presentation and tastes were exquisite. The Beef Wellington in particular was amazing. The dining room tables, while close, allowed for ease of conversation without excessive noise.
This is a restaurant experience everyone should consider.
Romantic relaxing evening
Wonderful food and service. More crowded and noisy than we are used to. Still an excellent experience.
VERY quiet evening, fabulous food and service but very expensive. reserve for a special occasion and bring another couple
Our experience was nice. Our waitress was very cordial and informative. However, I don't think we would visit again because the food being very good was not filling.
I understand your concept of the restaurant and the chef's vision but a one time visit will suffice.
Our wine choice was very good.
Good luck with this venture!
The food was amazing - really loved the small-bites that started out the meal (Soft Warm Eggs!). We had the Omnivore tasting menu with elevated wine pairings and everything was a delight. The entire staff was helpful and welcoming, especially our server Marlee. Thanks to Zero for the creative menu and lovely evening. :)
Great experience. Tasting menu delivered on all levels, and seasoning and execution was flawless. Interesting wine pairings with some more obscure varietals and regions represented - which provided for an educational experience as well. One of the best meals and dining experiences to be had in Charleston.
Zero George is our new indisputable Charleston favorite for fine dining! Experience was comparable to some famous San Fran area greats. Without a doubt in the top tier of Chas restaurants, alongside (if not surpassing) Chas Grill, Peninsula Grill and Circa 1886. I would even say the value and creativity are much greater at Zero George. The 5 course tasting menu, along with with hors d'oeuvres and wine pairings was amazing, and is an excellent value compared to similar restaurants. A must for a trip to Charleston and/or special occasions!
Tasting menu was excellent and they accommodated me for one course, which they usually do no substitutions, since I'm pregnant. Wine pairing per my husband was terrible. Service was excellent and ambiance lovely. Would return if we lived in the area.
Daughter’s 23rd birthday with her sister. We had a delicious meal and the service was outstanding! One of my absolute favorite places to dine in Charleston. Loved it all!
