Great and convenient location, nice space other than noise but well below average sushi, sashimi, rolls. One of three special rolls ordered was good (fusion), other two not good (old city and hot tuna).
The food was very tasty however we waited an hour for food and only half was brought was and the rest took another 45 minutes. This is our 2nd time going there in a sat and both time the wait was ridiculous. They need to hire more cooks and servers.
Sushi portions small and just not great. Expected more.
The food was pretty good, but they had one server for the entire place. It wasn’t very full and our food took pretty long.
Read ambience perfect sushi a great service
Service was super slow, not sure if it was just that night. Sushi rolls were good, but unusually tiny
No matter the occasion, Zento never disappoints!
Good time overall
Portions were very small for the price
Not happy the menu of web site and open table is nothing like what they actually office. All the hot foods are gone form the menu. Of the six of us, two do not eat sushi. The staff had no answer on why web site was never updated.
Food was delicious but service is a bit slow
The sushi was great, wine selection not so much. But above all, we were disappointed in the service. The waitress just walked up to us, not even making eye contact and just said "Are you ready". No hello or anything, which I thought was odd. Then we proceeded to wait an hour for any of the food. She came by and apologized but never offered a drink on the house or any sort of compensation for waiting way too long for food. I get sometimes you get backed up or find yourself understaffed and I'm usually very patient when that happens, but at least offer your customers that are feeling the most pain of it some sort of food/drink/monetary "sorry for your troubles".
Staff stayed well-beyond closing time without any pressure for us to leave. Thanks for great sushi!
Zento was a most enjoyable sushi experience. Service was pleasant though a little slow. The sushi & saki were excellent.
Family New Year's Eve dinner
Delicious, creative, friendly staff, knowledgeable waiter, chirisushi bowl awesome! Signature cocktails, Fair prices,
The place looks very nice, the service is average, the food is just OK and all of it is way overpriced.. Will never come back and would not recommend to anyone.
Favorite sushi spot in Philly. Truly perfect for any occasion and every night! The menu and sushi is perfect!
My husband and I wanted Sushi for our 1 month wedding anniversary. Love this new hidden treasure we found in our neighborhood. The sushi was amazing and the shrimp dumplings.
Liquor license lapsed which we didn’t know so it became a byob
Cool cozy, scenery with great food choices. Taste great! Double check before you go to see if they received their liquor license. Sign says “& Sake Bar” but we needed to BYOB.
Out of date website
Everything we picked out from the online menu wasn’t actually on the menu any longer
The ginger dressing salad and the seaweed salad were perfect. The sushi was delicious and was made very quickly. And the mochi was nicely made and sliced because we were splitting it.
I made a reservation but the restaurant didn’t honor the reservation system. They were open but were not sitting customers due to a catering event. It would have been more appropriate to update the reservation system or call the customers who had reservation and inform them about the circumstances. Driving to the restaurant and learning that the restaurant wasn’t sitting customer isn’t a good practice.
Excellent sushi! Great variety. Very efficient service as well!
Appetizers (edamame and a rainbow trout ceviche) were very good. Two of our rolls were generally good (though not as spicy as expected), and the branzalino (sp?) roll was excellent. The flight of sake was also very good. The service was very good. The atmosphere while we were there was relatively quiet, although it is the type of place that I could see getting loud if it had been more crowded. Having TVs in the back dining area (rather than just facing the middle bar area) was a little odd, and hurt the atmosphere a bit, I think (though I’ll admit to checking scores out as the night progressed). The cost was about what you’d expect for a nice restaurant in this area. Overall, very good; we will come here again.
As always the food was amazing. Christian our waiter was great! Made sure we were happy! I highly recommend Zento!
Great service! Great food! Our server Kelly was very helpful and took the time on a busy night to answer our questions and help us to enjoy a great night
Every piece on every plate was fresh and vibrant. The presentation was beautiful. Christian, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly, and offered the perfect suggestions while guiding us through the menu. We had a delicious and memorable experience. Thank you Zento!
Always a pleasure to dine here. We are eat here everytime we are in Philly.
It was a really nice dining experience. The seating is a little tight, but still quite comfortable. I love the atmosphere and our server was just the right amount of attentive and friendly. The sushi was very good quality.
My husband and I had a great meal and enjoys the calm, easy-going energy on Friday night. We definitely will be back as the sushi was very good and you're able to BYO (although we didn't this time). Will be spreading the word, for sure.
We always look forward to returning to the location of our first date ( down the street at the original). Food was good but clearly the original chef is no where to be seen. It was good sushi but to us lost it's vibe. Not sure we will return
My favorite sushi in Philadelphia. Freshest, most delicious fish. Never want any other sushi! Mexican Roll and Maguro sushi are my top favs. Very flavorful miso and awesome shrimp dumplings too.
Service was efficient and very friendly. The sushi and specialty rolls were excellent with lots of flavor. Also, loved the steamed dumplings and spring roll.
The sushi was excellent! Everything was so fresh. Service was friendly and efficient.
The 4 of us willBe back! A very good experience!
Zento was a bit of a disappointment after reading all the great reviews. My husband and I ordered sushi but we found the rice a bit 'wet.' The Tamago sushi was squishy and wet, it must have been frozen before. The portions and value is great, definitely not the best sushi. My salad was over dressed as well. If you're looking for authentic, look elsewhere.
Always good food and drinks. Great for a night out with friends.
Three friends for a Saturday ladies night out. We requested a relatively quiet table and we were able to hear each other just fine (sitting right up front - we didn't mind. Not much change from outdoor temperature during a hot July night). The service wasn't perfect but we were far away from our servers other tables, and also we didn't need much attention. Our waitress was kind, helpful, understanding, and warm. Food was delicious. 2 miso soups, 4 specialty rolls, 1 app, 2 desserts = less than $30/pp. Highly recommend and will be going back for more occasions!
I had never been to Zento until last night 7/15/17 and didn't know what to expect. My date and I shared 2 apps. One was tuna tartare and the the other was a very small yellowtail sashimi. Both were enjoyable with the tuna being very good and the other was good despite the very small portion size. The rolls were very good and desert of fried ice cream was OK. I definitely would go back as I like the vibe of the area.
My pinky is bigger than the size of their eel that they have in the sushi roll.
Very fresh sushi and great service! We've been to Zento once before using a Groupon too. Great location in Center City Philly near many tourist attractions. The only downside is that the main restaurant is very dim, beyond romantic. Be prepared to use the flashlight on your phone to see the menu details.
