Zenkichi quietly entered the scene in late 2006 in a then up and coming Williamsburg food scene. The unique cuisine and dining experience have had restaurant goers and critics catching on ever since.

The restaurant offers semi private tables for all of its customers and Tokyo-style Japanese cuisine. The focus is on small plates for sharing and tasting with sake. The menu emphasizes Omakase (chef's tasting menu) which changes every five weeks to incorporate the freshest ingredients of the season. The sake selection includes over 50 kinds of carefully chosen premium sake labels.

Zenkichi continues to evolve with a recently added garden. The space is inspired by a Japanese mountain retreat with a glass ceiling that incorporates two 50 year old trees. Which expands the seating space and adds a new dynamic to the already unique décor.

My girlfriend and I had a beautiful and pleasurable dining experience. Their Omakase menu was delicious! They accommodated my dietary restrictions without batting an eye. They had an extensive sake menu and provided recommendations we enjoyed.

Girlfriend’s birthday dinner celebration with just the two of us. I had read about this location from 12 top romatic restaurants in nyc so we decided to give it a shot. It was a very cozy location with wide selection of Japanese cuisine. We opted for the omakase as it doesn’t require us to study the menu. Everything was fresh. Unique and delicious. Definitely a great romantic spot for a really delicious bite that was worth the value.

1st I’ll start off by saying that I am not the type of person to leave reviews. If I’m going to take the time to leave a review it was either the Absolute Best or Worst experience. Zenkichi was not only THE BEST Experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant but it was THE BEST Food I have ever had in my life!!!An extremely intimate atmosphere, very private & absolutely perfect for any special occasion or date night!!! I could go on & on. Will definitely be back for more!!!

The restaurant is a great spot for dates if Brooklyn isn't too out of the way for you. The location is much larger than pictures would lead you to believe and has a great ambience. Staff is very attentive and caring, highlight of our experience was definitely the service. The meal was also enjoyable however slightly lower than some other Japanese places at a close price point with the exception of their tofu, which is made in-house. Definitely the best tofu I've had in a while. All in all its a 5 star experience for me as there is nothing to complain about and my girlfriend who is Japanese suggests that the dishes they serve suits a more Japanese palette and gives it a full 5 stars as well.

Zenkichi is a delight. Always courteous and always detail oriented. The food was delicious and the sake was too! We ordered a sake from the specials menu - and even though sake is expensive this was a lower priced bottle and it was VERY good. I always love bringing my friends to Zenkichi because it reminds me of home and the graciousness of Japan. Yay Zenkichi! Also, they told me about Akari, the next door spot who's space is more open...so we will definitely come back to try that! Thank you!!

Food was simply divine, the sake pairings perfectly fit each dish, especially delicious was the plum sake and the monkfish tempura. All the food simply melted in your mouth and the semi private booths were so cozy and romantic.

Really cool spot and atmosphere! Food selection extremely limited and and portion sizes were extremely tiny !! We had one waiter - was nice and accommodating- then another waiter took over- Ika-she was rude and miserable !!! We asked for another order of spicy mayo - she told us there was already one on the table - to use that one ! (It was my friends spicy mayo ). After we insisted - she brought us another one.

Perfect for a date or special occasion for a party of 2. The quiet secluded booths are perfect for conversation and intimacy. The pre-fix gives a wide variety of authentic cuisine. Highly recommend.

This place was fabulous. The energy and ambiance were impressive. What I like most was the closed in booths for privacy. Definitely a must visit place in Williamsburg.

My wife and i have been dining at Zenkichi for a long time and I have left many positive reviews in the past. Unfortunately this past visit turned out to be disappointing. This time we decided to try their special Valentines Day Omakase which was $125. Their normal Winter omakase was $75. The number of courses, 8, was the same for both. Most of the courses turned out to be good. But the portions were very small for every course. The worst part was that we felt cheated when the dessert course turned out to be a piece of chocolate truffle the size of a finger tip and another firger size jelly like candy next to it. We were pretty sure the real desert course is yet to come. It never did. It is like calling the amuse bouche a course in a nice French restaurant. We ordered 3 glasses of sake each. But the sake portions were very tiny, half full, small glasses. So we both felt cheated paying a tab of $375 for dinner. This is not the Zenkichi we used to love.

My husband and I have been celebrating his birthday at Zenkichi for the past couple of years. The food is always delicious, and the ambiance is very romantic. This year, they gave us a little dessert plate to celebrate his birthday, and it was a very nice touch.

Everything about Zenkichi makes for a most memorable evening -- the private booths, the polite discrete staff, the incredibly beautiful AND delicious food... get the seasonal omakase! (For an extra special -- though $ -- night out, get the sake pairing!)

Came here for an anniversary. Overall, was very nice! Food was delicious and service was wonderful. I thought it would have been more intimate, but we were surrounded by other couples who were talking loudly. Prices are a little high, but we did the A La Carte instead of the pre-fix which we liked because we got to choose our actual dishes.

The omakase dinner was good. It was I believe 8 courses and worth the money and the trek out to brooklyn. The most memorable was the uni which was an addition to the omakase. Went there to celebrate wife's birthday. The description of the restaurant being romantic is not right. It is just a typical Japanese restaurant decor that you would find in Japan.
