We had a wonderful time as always.
Food was simply divine, the sake pairings perfectly fit each dish, especially delicious was the plum sake and the monkfish tempura. All the food simply melted in your mouth and the semi private booths were so cozy and romantic.
The best restaurant I've ever visited. Nice staff, nice food. It was my girlfriend's birthday. The staff gave an amazing surprises.
My favorite restaurant in NYC. Excellent food, excellent service, lovely setting, privacy. Authentic regional Japanese cuisine.
Really cool spot and atmosphere! Food selection extremely limited and and portion sizes were extremely tiny !! We had one waiter - was nice and accommodating- then another waiter took over- Ika-she was rude and miserable !!! We asked for another order of spicy mayo - she told us there was already one on the table - to use that one ! (It was my friends spicy mayo ). After we insisted - she brought us another one.
Nice restaurant for a quiet dinner. Great service and food is good.
Waiting room smelled like fish, food was mediocre at best. Service was very good, but food definitely was not worth the money.
This place was fabulous. The energy and ambiance were impressive. What I like most was the closed in booths for privacy. Definitely a must visit place in Williamsburg.
My wife and i have been dining at Zenkichi for a long time and I have left many positive reviews in the past. Unfortunately this past visit turned out to be disappointing. This time we decided to try their special Valentines Day Omakase which was $125. Their normal Winter omakase was $75. The number of courses, 8, was the same for both. Most of the courses turned out to be good. But the portions were very small for every course. The worst part was that we felt cheated when the dessert course turned out to be a piece of chocolate truffle the size of a finger tip and another firger size jelly like candy next to it. We were pretty sure the real desert course is yet to come. It never did. It is like calling the amuse bouche a course in a nice French restaurant. We ordered 3 glasses of sake each. But the sake portions were very tiny, half full, small glasses. So we both felt cheated paying a tab of $375 for dinner. This is not the Zenkichi we used to love.
My husband and I have been celebrating his birthday at Zenkichi for the past couple of years. The food is always delicious, and the ambiance is very romantic. This year, they gave us a little dessert plate to celebrate his birthday, and it was a very nice touch.
Everything about Zenkichi makes for a most memorable evening -- the private booths, the polite discrete staff, the incredibly beautiful AND delicious food... get the seasonal omakase! (For an extra special -- though $ -- night out, get the sake pairing!)
Impecable service. Fantastic food.
This was our first authentic Japanese restaurant I was happy to see vegan course offered paired with sake. The overall experience was nice and would recommend friends.
Absolutely recommend this place for special date night
Came here for an anniversary. Overall, was very nice! Food was delicious and service was wonderful. I thought it would have been more intimate, but we were surrounded by other couples who were talking loudly. Prices are a little high, but we did the A La Carte instead of the pre-fix which we liked because we got to choose our actual dishes.
Very cool New York restaurant with an great atmosphere. Private booths and excellent service. Great date spot.
The omakase dinner was good. It was I believe 8 courses and worth the money and the trek out to brooklyn. The most memorable was the uni which was an addition to the omakase. Went there to celebrate wife's birthday. The description of the restaurant being romantic is not right. It is just a typical Japanese restaurant decor that you would find in Japan.
I have been to this restaurant many times. The food is high quality and the service is excellent.
Great place for a date
The best Japanese in Brooklyn
Amazing service and ambiance
Really nice place with excellent good!
You can experience the Japanese dining culture here.
Food was delicious and service was great
The ambiance is warm and instantly lets you know that you’re in for a wonderful experience. The tasting menu is the way to go. Every dish is creative, visually stunning and incredibly delicious. It’s one of the most memorable dining experiences one could hope for.
LOVE THE ATMOSPHERE.
FOOD WAS FRESH AND GOOD AND SERVICE WAS GREAT.
Really great ambiance as it’s a very private & intimate dining experience. The service was great and the omakase menu was a different and recommended experience!
Our waiter was very nice and offered my friend and I a small tasting of sake since we were unsure about which one to get -- there were too many options. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. The servings are very small so it's good to order enough to share. Each table is closed off with a blind so you get a lot of privacy.
Absolutely incredible meal. Got the omakase for my girlfriend and I for our 5 year anniversary, and it was probably the best food I've ever had, period. The service was great, and they made us a special dessert plate for our anniversary, which was really sweet. Totally recommend.
Zenkichi was a perfect place for an intimate birthday dinner. Our server Kei was very knowledgeable and very attentive to my food sensitivities! The atmosphere was even better in person than in photos, and the food was incredible. Kei helped us determine our preferences for sake and paired the glasses with our food well. The potato mochi balls were to die for, and honestly every plate had complex but complementary tastes and out of our 7 plates we didn’t have anything we didn’t like. Would highly recommend!!
We felt like we were transported magically to Japan during our dinner in all respects: ambiance, service and food. The wait staff were attentive and did a very good job explaining the courses and offering ideas to try. We did the 8 course tasting menu which was a very good deal for everything that was offered - plates were prepared with amazing detail. The ambiance was so cute and offered private dining perfect for a business meal or a date.
I come here every year for my birthday. It's always phenomenal overall and never disappoints. I'm always transported out of Brooklyn and I can truly relax and forget my troubles with tastes and ambience like nowhere else in Brooklyn.
I highly recommend Zenkichi to anyone who wants an authentic Japanese dining experience. It's very intimate and great for any occasion
Loved this place! Me and my gf celebrated our first anniversary there, and it was just perfect. Awesome sake must say, and delicious food. Props to the chèf. Very beautiful space, it makes you feel like you are walking through a small bamboo jungle and its very chill. Highly recommend this place!
Excellent service, great food, would definitely recommend.
I really like Zenkichi. It was my second time eating here and I must say the second time around was just not as satisfying as the first. Maybe it was because we went with a larger group and didn't go with the Omakase menu, but I just did not feel like the meal was fulfilling at all. We actually made a joke about how after Zenkichi we'd go next door to get burgers since we left hungry. It's not a cheap place and I'm not a cheap person, but it was just such a bummer seeing these itty bitty portions. Despite this fact the service is great, I love the intimate cozy vibes, the restaurant's aesthetic is really unique, and the food is delicious even though the portions are teeny tiny. I most likely won't personally be coming back, but I'd still recommend it to friends with just a warning that they may want want to eat a meal before or to be prepared to grab a bite after.
It is the most wonderful and romantic restaurant in all of Brooklyn
Food was good and traditional, with no creativity.
Service was professional, but mechanistic. It was impossible to understand the hastily description of the composition of each dish.
Omakase felt too expensive for what is a well done yet regular Japanese meal.
Atmosphere and decoration is nice and original, with a mix of tradition (wood, bamboo, flowers, small semi-private booths) and modernity (lightning, mirrors).
Great place to have an intimate conversation
It wasn’t good straight up
