Even though we had a reservation we were seated >30 minutes after our reservation time. The waitress seemed nice but also stressed. It felt as though she was trying her best but has a lot on her plate (no pun intended). She would bring a tray filled with drinks and then disappear for the next 15 minutes, which made ordering food difficult. If a friend really wanted to try out this place I would go, but I would not recommend it to others without caution. It felt as if we were begging for service and I don’t believe the price of their brunch is worth that.

I live around the corner from Zengo and therefore I pass it all the time, but I had never been there for food. This past Friday night, my roommate and I were looking for a local dinner place and after looking at the menu we figured we would give it a go. We walked out of there feeling like we found our new neighborhood spot.

As soon as we walked in, we were both blown away - Good music, tons of smiling faces, and the dishes we saw on the way to our table looked delicious. The seats were comfy and the table was clean. The cocktail menu was extensive and also was on a cool leather design, and the food menu was also perfect for the kinds of dishes we were looking for.

I ordered an old fashioned off the cocktail list and it was perfect. For food, we ended up splitting a bunch of dishes- We ordered chicken lettuce cups, a sushi roll, fried rice, and tuna tacos and everything was perfect and extremely reasonable.

I definitely plan on visiting again soon... tried to visit this Sunday for their bottomless brunch special but unfortunately they were completely booked!

I took my daughters, who are both college students, for NYC restaurant week and we ended up ordering off the regular menu. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and helpful.

Our party was for 15 people and I think the restaurant could not handle so many people at one time, as half of the food was either burnt or very cold. Appetizers were perfect though!

Great, fresh, quality food. Excellent attentive service. The portion sizes are not to big and not too small, but just perfect. I went for restaurant week, but would definitely consider going there on a regular basis.

I was there last week on a Thursday night with a bunch of my girlfriends. It was a birthday celebration of my friend so I was kind of hoping it better be good.
So lets start talking about the place first. So we walk in into this huge 3 level restaurant which is a rare sight in New York City. The place is brimming with people still doesn't seem to be crowded. The vibe, the music , decor ,everything was great.
Lets get to the food and cocktails now. We ordered the Zengo margarita which was really refreshing and slightly different from regular margarita must try if you are at Zengo.
Food we ordered a lot of food and everything tasted great.
The chicken pot stickers, veggie pot stickers were really good, shishito peppers were average, fried rice was amazing, the tofu entree was amazing don't remember what it's called, we also got the veggie tacos and roll. They also got a complimentary birthday dessert which was the Tres leches it was damn tasty.
Overall great experience at Zengo will visit again.
Perfect for a special occasion , date night or just a night out with friends.

Unfortunately, my restaurant week dinner left much to be desired. The only enjoyable part was the appetizer. It was the lobster tempura sushi roll. My main course, the mahi mahi, was bland and dry. It was served over a bed of quinoa that was cold. The red sangria was also watery and seemed to lack flavor as well. Dessert was a puff apple pastry with a tiny scoop of ice cream..something I could have done up at home. The restaurant was beautiful and had a nice atmosphere but the food selections mentioned need a lot of work.

Food was ok. Service was not great. One server had an attitude and the other was average. I told him my chicken was undercooked and he said “well it looks cooked” and walked away. I was not impressed with this place at all. The best part was the friendly hostess.

We had a party of 8. They were able to seat us before our reservation time (830pm), which was quite accommodating. We ordered some drinks and appetizers to start while waiting for one more friend to arrive. Drinks and appetizers were very good. When our whole party is ready to order, things start to slow down. It took longer than average for our food to come. During the main course, we thought they were slow serving all the dishes but it end up they left out two of our dishes. By the time they brought out the remainder two dishes the rest of our table already finished our dishes. No one came out and gave us an explanation. Lastly, we got our desserts, our strawberry ice cream on the chocolate lava cake were all melted. We were all very dissatisfied with the service.

I really had to downgrade this place based on the service. We visited this establishment for restaurant week with an 8:30PM reservation, and the menu options for the event were pretty solid sounding. Probably not the experience most people will have, but we were not satisfied with the table we were given, and even though we had a reservation we were seated in what felt like an old table brought in to capitalize on space. Our server came to us right away to introduce himself, provided us with water, and promptly disappeared for about 25 minutes while we waited for him to return to take our order. We wanted a bit more to share besides the restaurant week menu, so the 4 of us also opted for extra appetizers, and it was then that a fruit allergy was shared. The appetizers came out around 45 minutes later, and the entrees what must have been another hour after that. In between the appetizers, one of the staff came to top off the water on the table, which apparently also meant pouring water into my Sprite. The desserts took an equally long time to come out, and the cake and ice-cream was basically cake and puddle - clearly it had been sitting around for a while. To top it off, the desserts were covered in the fruit allergy listed above for the person who specifically mentioned it to the server. The server did come to check up on us for dessert and after being informed of the problem did bring out a new dessert, but by this time (around 11:45PM) we were already sour about it. Not to mention that while eating our desserts the restaurant had already emptied, leaving only us and one other table, and many of the employees had their coats on and were lowering the music, and stared at us. We didn't expect to be there by closing either, but we hurried through our desserts paid the bill and left. The food was good, but I don't know if we were a lower priority or whatever it was, but our experience was not an enjoyable one.
