Zengo - NYC Ratings and Reviews
We went on a Sunday for brunch, and the experience was great. Our waitress gave us the option of ordering things we would like or bringing it all to the table so that we had the opportunity to sample different foods, and sample we did! Food was great, drinks were great, atmosphere was great. We will definitely recommend to others and return ourselves!
This was advertised as a 2 hour bottomless brunch but they stopped serving drinks after an hour and a half and said it was 'on the website' it finished at 4. Very disappointing. In addition they were serving the table behind us way after the time - i do not appreciate being treated differently to other people and being lied to.
The server in general was excellent and the food was great however.
Food was delicious- we had allergies to worry about and our waiter knew all the ingredients for all of the dishes and gave us great recommendations on what to order. Service was perfect and the food was awesome. Will definitely go back!! We caught the tail end of Happy hour - drinks were really good at half the price
Incredible dinner experience!! I was celebrating a special occasion with six friends and I was looking for an upscale place close to Grand Central where we could enjoy an ice meal together. I highly recommend trying Zengo! The food was incredible, we tried a platter where the chef prepared special sushi dishes and my only regret is that we didn't order 2x!! I look forward to my next visit back.
The menu covers many countries in regard to the dishes. The sushi and steak were very good. However the ceviche was awful. It was a fruit salad with red snapper. Very bland and the flavors did not compliment each other. I am not sure I would return to this restaurant. It was just OK for me.
Went to Zengo for Restaurant week Summer 17. I suggest having more shell fish- less and vegetarian options on the menu. It was a very limited restaurant week menu. The service was amazing, very attentive staff. I ordered Tuna tartare, Lomo salteado and flan. My friend ordered veggie postickers, orange beef, and cheesecake. apps were okay (Tapas style), entrees were good but a little on the spicy side, and desert was good. I would return for the flan, but the cheesecake was nothing to rave about.
Got to see the bar downstairs which had a pretty nice scene, more of a romantic, date kind of scene. But at the same time it looked like a fun young adult crowd. It was a Monday evening and there were about 5 couples there, would go back and check out the bar downstairs.
Have been here several times. Food is interesting and attractively served. Even though we were the first customers, and our party of three ordered quickly off the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu, it was 90 minutes before dessert was served, at which time I asked for the bill. If you're expecting to be in and out for a business lunch, this may not be your best option.
I truly enjoyed myself at Sunday Brunch. It's $42 pp for unlimited everything. When I tell you I was drunk...that's just an understatement. There could have been more fruity and sweet options for drinks, because my cousin wasn't able to indulge as much but we did just fine.
Showed up 30 minutes early to our reservation and were seated immediately without a problem. Booth was very comfortable. Our server graciously guided us through the menu, offering amazing suggestions and tended to our bottomless brunch drinks/tapas orders constantly. Music playing was mostly spanish which kept me dancing in my seat (drink in hand). Food was absolutely delicious. Things I didn't think I'd like (lobster grits) turned out to be absolutely amazing. It was supposed to be only 2 hours but even after paying, and well over two hours later, our server gave us another round of drinks! Venue is very spacious and though my group was small (4) I would definitely come back with a bigger group. I was also brought a plate with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate syrup with dessert and a candle! Overall amazing service, amazing venue, amazing food/drinks, amazing time! Would HIGHLY recommend.
I had my birthday brunch here. I did not feel that the waitress was as attentive as she could have been. Some of the drinks were warm and unsatisfying. The food was delicious and came out regularly.
Only disappointing aspect was the "2 hour bottomless"
I would still recommend. Everyone was very friendly and the ambiance was ideal for a birthday.
We were celebrating two special events at once and Zengo did not disappoint. The cocktails were really good according to my husband as was my mock tail, which was fresh and delicious! For starters we had the crab guacamole which was really, really good- the flavors blended so well! The other starter was the lettuce wrapped shrimp dish- out of this world! I could eat this for an entire meal! Our main course was the fish tempura for my husband which he loved and was large! I ordered the Chilli crab Hong Kong style noodles, which was ok- it lacked a certain punch, which our starter's certainly had. Our server was really, really nice. He was attentive, friendly and just very pleasant.
The ambiance of Zengo is hip and the perfect place for a date, to celebrate something or just to have a great meal. We saw lots of office goers seated at the bar after a long week, groups of women, couples and a family or two. We'll definitely be back here, probably to try the brunch menu!
The food was pretty good, but the lunch menu really doesn't lie when it says "small plates." I ordered the vegetable potstickers and it was just 6 tiny potstickers with dipping sauce. It was pretty much a snack. Thank goodness I ordered the yucca fries on the side, which were quite delicious and a bit more filling. I don't think that you're getting everything you should for the prices you pay here.
The service, on the other hand, left much to be desired. The hostess was friendly and offered to move my party of three to another table if the sun in the window by which we were sitting was too much. After a few minutes at our table, we realized that the sun would be a bother and asked our server if we could be moved to another table, but she said it wasn't possible, as the restaurant was completely full. And when I looked over at the empty tables nearby, she said that they were all reserved. Really? Those SPECIFIC tables were reserved? That wasn't what the hostess just said. The server acted like she couldn't be bothered and made NO effort to accommodate us. The entire time, she pretended not to see us, while catering to a table of business men right next to us.
Overall, the experience was ok. I would only return if someone else were paying, but I wouldn't spend my money.
I had lunch with a new date and found the restaurant comfortable and the ambience good for conversation. The food was delicious. I had the fried chicken sandwich served as a salad not a sandwich. The server was responsive and helpful. I would definitely go this restaurant again.
