Nice options to choose for brunch. Love it , very different!
Music was bad, not latin or asian. Just weird. And drinks took too long. Think our server was just slow.
Really enjoyed the brunch here. You definitely get way more food than you can imagine. I would totally recommend this spot for large parties and bday brunches. Such a great deal!
Our office is right behind Zengo, and we go often for internal meetings and client lunches- the food is very tasty and ambiance is pretty- but the service is subpar. Management needs to re-evaluate it's servers. I won't go back after the snippy attitude I received from a server. I ordered the prix fixe and he stated that management didn't want to make any substitutions, as I was just asking for veggies instead of potatoes.
I'll take my money elsewhere.
I always love the food and service at Zengo
Food and service during the bottomless brunch was excellent!
We arrived for the first brunch sitting and with a nearly empty restaurant was seated in one of the darkest corner. Waitstaff was ok. Could have been a bit friendlier, upbeat and informative. Didn’t crack a smile once. Great value for two hours and most of the dishes are decent.
The quality of food was not consistent with the positive experience that I had 2 years ago. Service was slow and at times their body language seemed to express that they were annoyed to have to assist. Half way your meal the volume level on the music increased which struck me as odd be the restaurant was roughly 30% full and the lack of people caused the music to echo. It was bothersome because it made it difficult to hold a conversation. I did request to have the volume lowered and our server was initially reluctant to share the request with the manager who he said was in charge of the music. Shortly thereafter, the volume was lowered to a more acceptable level.
New Year’s Eve dinner - we were a group of 15, including 6 toddlers. Resi for 5:30, make it a point to tell the hostess we would be out by 7:30 so as to not disrupt the service. Yes we were loud and that’s why we were in a corner. She was rude, obnoxious and just down right nasty. The servers were super pleasant and went out of their way to make my group feel welcome. Hostess, bad idea to have her at the front on your biggest night. Thankfully the food and the service made up for it.
Simply pathetic. So disappointed that i dont even wanna write a proper review
Christmas Eve meal, very quiet. Loved the sushi.
Wonderful weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) brunch. The food was diverse, unique and delicious. Free flowing mimosas and margaritas. The service was so attentive and the waiter was great at making suggestions and modifications to certain dishes to meet our needs. This was the second consecutive year my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary for brunch at Zengo's and we intend to maintain it as an annual tradition.
I've been here many times w good service and drinks. Our waiter had poor skill, and was not attentive after 1st round of drinks and tapas. At the end, we split the bill on credit, and the suggested tip at 18, 20 ,and 22 %was based on the full amount, not the half. Unfortunately didn't realize til on way home, so pd double, when he didn't even deserve the regular tip...sangria was delicious, lol
Terribly disappointed in the service and food. Appetizers and main courses all arrived at the same time and the food was lukewarm and cold in some cases. This is unacceptable given the restaurant was only half full at the time. Needless to say, we will not be planning any further events at this restaurant.
The sushi was ok but the main coarse (chicken) was over sauced. So was my co-workers fish.
Amazing food! There were a ton of great vegetarian/pescatarian options. I loved the tuna tacos and the crab guacamole. It was just a bit dark, but it’s good for a bar setting.
Waiter was excellent his name was Alberto. Food was good but nothing spectacular for NYC. The sushi rolls were good but again nothing out of this world. Cold sake was great, sashimi with Wagyu was also very delicious. Good experience but would not go again.
This place had us wanting to go to the Shake Shack across the street. The food just wasn't good to us. Some people may like it. The drinks are the real problem. Ridiculously expensive and it may as well be flavored water. The passionfruit mojito tasted good, but it was not worth the price. The service was okay. The waiter was nice, but some plates took too long to come and they forgot one dish completely. It was also way quieter than I expected, which isn't a fault but wasn't what I was expecting.
Good for lunch, as they have a Bento box and a Prix Fixed menu. Both have decent choices. Nothing too exotic or unusual on the menu. Service was fine, but nothing to write home about.
Very good. Really enjoyed the tasting menu design of the bottomless brunch. If there’s 1 negative I’d say they need to do a better job ensuring those that have finished dining are not loitering around the tables. I had a group of around 10 ppl standing in front of my table for about 20 minutes after they stood up to leave. But I loved the brunch and will be back!!! ❤️❤️
Zengo never disappoints! I always have a great experience here. The food, service, drinks are all worth every cent. Amazing place for a date, friend catch up, birthday, all of the above!
This was a great brunch! Service was amazing and quick. Highly recommend!
Great food, good service - my only grouch is the two-hour seating limit for brunch (which does not appear clearly when you make the reservation), even when the restaurant isn't crowded. Did not make sense.
I've been here before and have had a great time in the past. Sadly this was not the case in my most recent visit. My server wasn't polite didn't check on my table, didn't bring me half of the things I order, ignored special request. He seemed rather annoyed we were even in his section. He was at one point just walking past us even when trying to get his attention. I'm never going back. I use to suggest this place to everyone, but not I'd say do not go unless you want to have a bad time.
This place has 2 things going for it. First, the food is outstanding. We got 4 appetizers/dim sum items and one main, bibimbap. The apps were outstanding. The potstickers, Thai-style lettuce wraps, and satay were really just extraordinarily good. And we got a cheese & meat flatbread combo that was very tasty.
The other thing is a long, 3-hour happy hour, with drink specials. And a groovy-looking lounge downstairs with large tables and smaller-group banquettes. I'm not sure if the apps are discounted at all for the happy hour, but either way, that makes this a great cocktails and snack place for after-work carousing.
This was my frst time here and I plan to make it a regular hangout.
We had an amazing time for my husband's birthday. We did the all you can eat and drink brunch menu for $50. The food was outstanding as well as the service. Our waiter Carlos was on top of everything and gave really good food recommendations.
We have been followers of Richard Sandoval's restaurants for awhile, and we frequent his other restaurants religiously. The Zengo in DC was always our favorite, so when it closed we tried the Zengo in NYC a few times. Overall, we find it hit-or-miss. For brunch, the food sometimes comes out cold, and despite great service we just don't think it's worth it. Much better food quality at dinner though!
Sangria quite good. The red wine was not. The sushi and stir fries were delicious.
However, it was so COLD in the restaurant we could not take off our coats.
Beautiful restaurant, food and service were great but it was freezing inside. I ate dinner in my down winter coat.
The bottomless brunch is a great value. The only thing I would improve is the consistency of the drinks. I ordered the sake sangria and it tasted different each time. Some people at my table complained that the margaritas were more mixer than tequila while others loved their mimosas. Everyone enjoyed their food. There are a lot of options so no one was left out.
Luv the crispy tofu! Never disappoints.
Weekend Brunch is a great deal and the food is pretty good. It is served family style so you can get a bit of everything on the menu. The arepas are my favorite and the Koren chicken.
I have been to Zengo quite a few times and I always have a great time 😊
The service was great Carlos our waiter was great, the food was good But was brought to the table Warm instead of Hot meaning room temp! We were celebrating my mother’s birthday and the manager came over to check to see how everything was and then Comp us our Desert! Very nice gesture
Eva is the best server in the world.
Overrated and overpriced for what it is. Food was good but not exceptional. Lots of potential but did not live up to it.
Definitely a different flavor food I always enjoy coming here
The absolute best brunch deal NYC has to offer. The food and the drinks are amazing! Zengo is a must!
I enjoyed the idea and choice of a bottomless brunch (bottomless mimosas and all you can eat small plates). However, for the money paid I was disappointed because the food did not taste fresh. The meatballs were rock hard and cold in the center, and the chicken was warm to the touch. The food did taste delicious and maybe timely delivery to the tables could prevent the customer from feeling like the food is not prepared fresh but instead ineffectively microwaved.
Do not get me wrong, the ambiance is an A+ and so is the service from the waiting stuff, but a few changes could make this experience exceptional.
