Zengo - NYC Ratings and Reviews
It was amazing as usual. My fiancé and I have been here for brunch and highly recommend it. $45 for bottomless brunch is a little steep since we live in TX but the food, service, and ambiance is well worth every penny. The Korean BBQ chicken is delicious. Bacon fried rice, fish chicharron, and the chocolate waffles are my absolute favorite. I know for sure every time I am in NYC to visit family I am stopping here for brunch. Our server, I think her name was Valerie was great. We have been fortunate to have her every time we have visited.
My wife and I went for Saturday brunch. our first time at Zengo. we loved every aspect. The brunch is unlimited served dishes and free flowing alcoholic beverages (margaritas, mimosas and bloody mary's) Service was great - we were constantly offered drink refills and the opportunity to order more food. The food was eclectic, tasty and well presented. food arrived hot and presentation was fabulous. Will definitely go back.
Very slow service and the place was not even half full. Food came with no cutlery, napkins or offer of water. Hostess at the front didn’t smile once that I saw and I was sitting facing the door. Food was cold by the time we got our forks.
Underwhelming to say the least.
I was sorry to see the restaurant nearly empty in the height of the holiday season. Yet with so few people we still had to wait for any kind of attention, and ultimately had to flag down someone for every request. I requested upstairs and checked that restaurant could email/text me, but was never contacted that upstairs was closed on that night. Food was good, prices reasonable.
I came out to Zengo for my fiance's birthday over a recommendation. We had a party of 10 and did the bottomless brunch. I love that they do family style it keeps everyone mingling and having a great time. Drinks were good and the price was perfect. Thank you for making our celebration awesome.
My friends and I traveled from DC and Rhode Island to celebrate my birthday brunch at Zengo NYC due to the closing of Zengo DC which is an annual birthday tradition. The restaurant was very accommodating to adjust the time due to the delay of our bus due to traffic. When we arrived, we had a short wait prior to being seated. The food and drinks were excellent! However, the service was not that great. They enforced us to the 2 hour time limit which would not have been an issue if the waiter would have made more frequent trips to our table. There were times when we waited up to 20 minutes for drink refills and for the correct food to arrive at the table. We also didn't get a warning that our time was running up and when we tried to order another round of food is when we were informed that our time was up. Prior to that we hadn't seen our waiter for 20 minutes. He would occasionally walk by saying he would be right with us but we he was overwhelmed with his tables and wasn't able to keep up. The vibe in the restaurant was great. Great music, energetic vibe, great crowd. I plan to come back but hope for better service.
I went zengo restaurant last Monday with my family because of my cousin birthday. It was an amazing dinner, our server Carlos Q was amazing too. We are grateful to him for his attention. We’ll back soon and hope to have Carlos Q as a server. Thank you for everything.
We had a large group, so there was a good variety of dishes tried and they were all wonderful. It's beautiful inside and the wait staff is very polite and helpful... Only complaint is that it took longer than desired between getting seated and getting to order beverages and then to get to order our meals. Food and drinks were well worth the visit, just wish service was a little more prompt.
Went for my birthday on December 2nd and had a good time. Food was good and kept coming out. Only complaint was the waiter seemed to be overwhelmed and kept forgetting drinks, not coming around as much, and spilling drinks on people in my party. We ended up asking another waiter for what we need and it was great from there.
Good food but terrible service.
Nobody was there to host us at the entrance, and after few minutes waiting we had to look for someone to get our table, and we’re told that we have to ask to the hostess at the entrance...quite ironic.
They asked us if we wanted to have all plates together and we said yes. Dishes arrived one by one, and the last one after a long time while the restaurant was almost empty. I had to ask few times.
It’s a pity because the food is good.
Warning to anybody with food allergies. After informing the staff about allergies when ordering, it took multiple conversations to convince them (to the point where we were actually asked if it was a legitimate allergy), where it seemed more important to try to upsell the brunch pricing over somebody's health.
I'll just begin with I never ever leave reviews, but this was so bad that I feel compelled to speak up:
It took 10 minutes before we saw our waiter.
For 15$ drinks, you would expect them to be good, but they were terribly watered down. The food was just OK, and there was a 20 minute gap between appetizers and our main entrees. Then it took 25 minutes to get our check.
Meanwhile we saw our waiter being attentive to other larger tables so we clearly realized he was prioritizing where he could make a better tip.
$146 for meager service, food and drinks for two people? What a joke! Too many great restaurants in NYC to waste your time and money here- next!
Sunday Funday brunch before leaving NYC...WOW. What a disappointment! We should have turned around when we noticed the filthy entry way rug (it was right at opening hour, so it most certainly wasn't due to high traffic that day) and windows upon entering. We were seated at a booth that overlooked the restaurant and given a menu, our drink orders were taken and then the waitress was MIA for about 15 minutes; we questioned a bus boy as to why others were ordering and getting food...then our waitress came over and explained we weren't supposed to order, they just "bring everything out in courses". So, we waited about 15 more minutes and received our first course of the MOST awful excuse for food in NYC. It was as if Sysco foods had just delivered and they served up everything right out of the freezer! I will give them props for presentation...HOWEVER, the dumplings were cold, the chicken in the empanadas tasted so bad that I spit it out, and the salad they served appeared to be bagged salad with ginger dressing on it. The pork on top of their corn cake was ice cold--like it came out of a container in the refrigerator! The cocktails were just as bad. Two courses in, we asked for our check...worst $45 ever spent. EVER. There are simply too many fabulous choices in NYC to eat bad food-hot dog vendors care more about their food than this place! Take your money and go spend it on two cocktails and some deviled eggs at the Spotted Pig in the village. You'll be glad you spent way more money on two craft cocktails and some eggs.
I had been to the first location in Denver and we so excited when i saw Zengo was in NYC!! Brought some friends for the bottomless brunch and we all agreed the $45 was totally worth it. Unlimited drinks and tapas?? Who can say no to that! My only complaint was we were never brought the desserts, our waitress told us they were on their way but an hour later still no dessert and she avoided coming back near our table.
Although the food was terrific, the service was unprofessional. Orders were mixed up. Main dishes for the table arrived at different times. Waiter had to be reminded several times to bring items that were asked for. We had to ask for coffee and tea service; they were not offered. The wait staff did not seem to care as if they were doing us a favor. A disappointing experience.
We came for Zengo's bottomless brunch and endless small plates special. What a deal this was. Almost 2 dozen dishes to choose from and bottomless mimosas, sangria, margarita and bloody marys. You have two hours to eat and drink but we were well stuffed before our time was up.
We had 6 people total and tried everything. Staff were wonderful and kept up with us.
