Zengo - NYC
Book your next event with us
I made a reservation for a milestone birthday in which I called the restaurant twice to ensure we had the appropriate accommodations for the small surprise. From the beginning the host that called to confirm my reservation told me 2 different prices for plating fees because we wanted to bring our own cake. It was a very quite Thursday evening. The restaurant was empty which was perfect for me. But for some reason our waiter was slow and not attentive. So much so that we ended up sharing water because they barely came back to refill. All in all, I expected better service on a night that wasn’t busy but we enjoyed the ambiance and the people we were with.
Very disappointed this time. They ran out of 3 of the 7 entrees available for Brunch. Overcharged us and had to redo bill. Have been going to this restaurant for years and was shocked with the lack of service and food.
Zengo’s brunch food was less to be desired. It’s mainly a place to drink unlimited Mimosas, Bloody Marys and Sangria for 2 hour while having something to snack on. Unfortunately the food wasn’t that tasty.
Held our Galentine's event here and had a fabulous time! The waiter was so patient with our group of picky eaters and really helped make sure the event was a success. Would definitely go back! Best brunch I have had in a while and great drinks.
Restaurant Week menu was excellent. We two couples enjoyed sampling the 3 - course menu. We will be back again for dinner.
It was my third time in a week here. I fell in love with this place and their endless list of Tequila and Mezcal. This last time I requested a specific server who I loved the 2nd time I was there, Andrew, he is the man! I was not sat in his section and the service did not compare to that of Andrew’s. The food is always fantastic!
In fairness, we were the first to arrive at 5:20 for dinner at 5:30 following a show. We went to use the ladies room and it was a HORROR show. Worse than any fraternity party day-after. Of 4 bathroom stalls, 2 were unusable, and you can use your imagination as to what other remnants of the intoxicated were left behind. That was a very poor first impression. Our waiter was very nice and provided good information on the food but drinks alone took a very long time to arrive (two were beers, two were cocktails). There was hardly anyone in the place at that hour. The food was pretty good and inventive, though not awesome. The menu is relatively small so I would check it out carefully before going to be sure you will find something you like. We ordered dessert and coffee. We finished our dessert and waited another 10 minutes for the coffee to arrive. So, while the food was pretty good, I would not go back there. Great restaurants are everywhere in NY and I would go somewhere with better food, faster service and clean facilities
Changed the menu. Used to be fantastic, and now has been dumbed down and limited to less high end menu
Food was good, service was prompt and friendly. Went for brunch and our cups were always filled. Will definitely go back.
I had my 30th bday brunch there.
My waitress had an attitude. It was clear she did not want to be there. The drinks are pre made and watered down. The flavored mimosas were separating in the glass. We had to keep asking the waitress to fill our glasses. The sake sangria tasted like colored water. They hardly had anything on their bottomless menu. I was really looking forward to the dumplings but they said they don't serve that anymore. The food was tasteless. Only thing i enjoyed were the noodles. Everything else came out freezing cold and sweaty.
The concept is great but I could have did without.
Food and cocktails were very disappointing
We didn't finish our food or drinks and staff didn’t even acquired the reason.
Decided to try the restaurant week menu which you would expect has been designed to showcase the restaurant’s food at its best! However, I would not recommend trying it. The appetizers (butternut squash and ginger soup and salad with blue cheese) were “ok” but the shrimp pad Thai was terrible. Service was not great. Drinks were good, but overall it was an unpleasant lunch experience and would never go back.
I always enjoy Zengo. I love the Cadillac margaritas, the zengo rice and the edamame. I also had the sea bass. it was fabulous! our server was great. He misunderstood my friend's drink order but immediately went back and corrected it. He checked in on us after we were served but didn't bother us.
Unfortunately, I won't return and it's in such close proximity to my office. The food was marginal. I was with a party of four and much of our food came out cold and some was so overcooked it was too tough to eat. The server, while pleasant, was not very attentive. The restaurant was not very busy, but service was still su-par. I received my appetizer and entree before my entire party was served. One person in the party received his food 30 minutes after ordering and didn't have enough time to finish. And, he never got his beverage -- which was merely iced tea. Such a disappointment, overall.
They had no Bloody Mary mix for an all day only brunch menu with zero substitutions.
For the price and the amount of food and drinks my table had gotten it was well worth it. They ran out a few things which is completely understandable. That didn’t take away from how amazing all the food was. The only thing we didn’t like was that we had to keep calling for our waitress and somethings we ordered we never received until we called her again and she said it was “out”. But overall, great food, great atmosphere, great vibes, very clean and organized. Will be returning soon.
I would recommend Zengo. The only thing I didn’t like is that their drinks are warm. The sangria was the only one that had Ice. I’m not sure if it’s because the mimosa containers are just sitting there on the counter but they definitely need to chill them so they can taste better. Mimosas are made with champagne so that should be kept cold.
I had great time at Zengo. Will definitely bring a larger party next time
It was for my birthday and it was great!! Love the food and ambiance
It was a birthday - service was great and the staff took care of us. Food was plentiful and efficient. Drinks were never empty
I think this space works well for both larger groups and 1x1 dining (as I was). Service friendly and prompt. Food was very tasty, and a decent wine list. Buzzy atmosphere but easy to have a conversation.
Great food. Great service!
Taylor the receptionist was terrific! Food was great, ambiance was festive.
Nice ambiance, and interesting food. Think people should try it out for the combination of styles, but wasn’t blown away by the food combinations
Had an awesome experience at Zengo. Had a group of 12 for a birthday brunch. We had the unlimited food and drinks - a glass was never empty as they refilled so fast- and our table overflowed with food. The service was awesome and the food / drinks were delicious!
It was a wonderful experience. The guest of honor was beyond please with the event. Thank you!
the food was really not that tasty, disappointed. staff didnt explain the menu correctly and a lot of confusions
Excellent! The service was terrific from the hostess, bartender and wait staff. Our group ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and try many items. It was tough to choose as the menu was creative and had quite a few choices. Well thoroughly enjoyed everything and can't wait to go back. It was a nice treat for my out of town guests.
The menu seems creative, it feels the touch of the real chef.
Execution 2/10. All the dishes were soggy, soaked with the low quality oil.
Love the bottomless brunch . It’s Saturday and Sunday which is nice. Unlimited drinks and small plates . Never seems to be too busy . Totally underrated ! Brought the kids once and they loved trying all the different foods . This is a must do brunch !
Diverse menu options, quality food, really nice atmosphere.
Great time great happy hour specials and very nice service . The tequila flights were awesome !
Everything was so how I remember the food was so great
Great place to start to get your brunch on! Their $50 all you can eat and drink combo is like no other. Highly recommend coming with an empty stomach cause when they say unlimited they’re not kidding!
We went on Sunday noon. Noise level wasn’t as bad as my first visit. Food is tasty and full of options. We didn’t go for bottomless drinks so I could not comment on it. Generally speaking, it was enjoyable dining experience.
Appetizers were very tasty! Main dishes were just OK. Stick with appetizers and drinks. Nice place overall.
I had lunch at Zengo during a recent holiday visit to NYC. We had our two young boys, and met up with my daughter who works for an advertising agency next door to the restaurant. The service, food, and ambiance were outstanding. They're also very kid friendly, making it especially enjoyable.
The quality of the food was good but everything came out cold. This is a restaurant, not take-out, so not sure why food was not warm.
Great selection of food, well prepared and excellent service
The waitress seemed to rush things along, we could tell she was leaving soon. We were sitting down about 90 minutes by the point when she asked to close the tab because she was leaving. Otherwise the food was good.
