Zen Japanese Restaurant
Recently, so called Japanese restaurants crowd the streets we live on. However, many of these places have no knowledge of Japanese history, culture, or cuisine and they focus more on making a profit. We, proudly being Japanese, believe strongly that running a Japanese business requires having an understanding of the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine.
The best !!! All the time
It was so nice! I ordered a steak and my bf ordered a sushi combo, as well as the tofu. The tofu was so smooth and tasty. We felt kinda full when the sushi came, we even packed the hand roll up. It was such a nice place. Love it, think next time we will try the counter.
So so nice! I’ve been to Zen before for lunch but this is my first time having their omakase and it was amazing! A lot of dishes were made in house such as the tofu and the desserts (Mochi, Soybean milk Ice cream, and more!) everything was absolutely delicious and I loved the freshness of every bite. Staff were lovely, all of them were Japanese making the experience extremely authentic! We also got extra desserts on the house for Valentine’s day! Thank you Zen!
We did the full chef’s choice experience for $180 each. I was expecting more flavorful sushi for the price and given it was coming from Japan. The wagyu beef was delicious and the smaller dishes were interesting. it was a neat and mostly yummy experience but I don’t think I’ll be back based on the cost.
For $140 per person, the presentation of sushi and sashimi was very crude. Portions are unreasonably miniature especially for the cooked tofu etc.. it’s worth $75 !
The freshness of the fish and the art of the preparation are outstanding.
Really fantastic restaurant. Food is outstanding, and the service is professional. Restaurant is clean, quiet and lovely for a special occasion (or a nice night out!).
Hands down the best sushi place in the city. Always fresh and the quality is exceptional. The staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly.
The only place to go to for authentic Japanese Omakase.
Had a great Sushi & Sashimi Omakase lunch at Zen, which was our first visit, to celebrate my wife's birthday. The hospitality was overall very good, with all staff being very attentive. The food was outstanding and the chef's choice was spot on. Our favourite Sushi was the BBQ eel and the spicy salmon hand roll. Highly recommend, next time you can take your time to enjoy some really high quality sushi!
My wife’s favourite omakase sushi restaurant in the city. We’ve been to plenty of other omakase sushi restaurants but ZEN is the only one that always satisfies us in terms of quality of food, price, service and ambience.
They have a 10% discount for their lunch omakase set which is an amazing deal!
Keep up the great work and continued success Zen!
Great!!! Best spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll!!
Fantastic sushi, and exceptional service! An authentic sushi experience!

The spicy tuna and shrimp tempura are the very best!!!
Best value for authentic sushi in Toronto. Been eating here for years dating back to their old location in Scarborough and they never disappoint.
Returing with a friend from overseas. A very nice restaurant with excellent fresh ingredients and good value.
Best Japanese food in York Region. Hands down!
We had a great time to ate Sushi Kaisei.
They provided Good service and hospitality .
We always feel satisfy .
Food was terrific. It is a great place for a date, special occasions or family dinners with small kids. We have done all at this restaurant and the staff have always been terrific every time. Service has been exceptional every time we have dined here. It isn’t the cheapest Japanese restaurant around but you get very good value for money spent.
First time I didn’t feel bad for the amount of money I was spending because it was that amazing.
First time a Japanese restaurant has truly reminded me of the quality of sushi similar to that of the Tsukiji fish market in Japan.
I think this place comes very close to the word ‘perfection’ and I don’t mean that lightly.
Excellent tuna hand roll to start. The seaweed wrapper comes directly from factory in Japan. Cannot get anything like it any place else in Toronto. Fish for Chirashi was fresh, flavourful and in appropriate quantity. Add a very warm conversation with Owner / Sushi chef and it was one of best sushi experience I've had. Truly authentic Japanese Sushi experience. Highly recommended for the true foodie.
The sushi and sashimi were very fresh. Wait staff very attentive
Very good environment and foods for dinner.
Recommend this omasake sushi course
