Zee Grill Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar
We were celebrating an 80th birthday and a great time was had by all!
Enjoyed our experience, service was very good, food was very good, nice and quiet so we can have a conversation. We would definitely recommend it and return
Excellent food and service. Down side is that the place is very loud and there is not a lot of variety in the menu.
Delicious food, well presented!
We’ve dined here several times but the last visit was outstanding the special Fogo Cod was perfectly done.
Oysters were amazing as usual and the muscles and frites delicious.
The waiter was very attentive and described the oysters perfectly.
Highly recommend this Gem.
Our most favourite sea food restaurant in Toronto but could stand out to similar seafood restaurants in Spain, France and Italy.
One of my favorites for years. Consistently meets and exceeds expectations. A must for oyster lovers.
Very good. Great seafood and great service. Would definitely go back
Place opened as Phoebe's in 1980. Still a fabulous spot.
Service was a little slow
Nice surprise. Busy but not noisy with easy conversation with our friends.
Fresh oysters and calamari. Two of us had the seared tuna and two of us had the fresh cod. Really fresh and well prepared.
The owner stopped by our table, introduced himself and gave us a breif history of the place.
We were impressed.
Will go again!
Thanks so much for the great food. The oyster selection is extensive, staff are very polite and friendly. Would took my girlfriend here, and we just ordered a bunch of dishes to share. The tacos are also quite amazing.
Always dependable for excellent food. Service was also very good.
We have been consistently pleased with all aspects of The Sea Grill. It is and has been our go to in the neighbourhood. Everyone we bring agrees.
I have not been here in ages. Came to celebrate my birthday. Had the steamed lobster. It was juicy and tender...just perfect, accompanied by crispy fries. I was not disappointed. I will not wait so long to return to this wonderful spot.
LOVE this place
Our neighbourhood gem
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name................
Was a perfect dinner! Food fabulous, the waitress was very professional and pleasant l would recommend this place 👍🏻
Server not attentive enough, for which there was no excuse because there were only 2-3 other tables being served while we were there. Although the table was set, it was sticky and could have been cleaned better. She walked by our table several times empty handed when we clearly needed plates removed. It took much longer than it should to get our initial drink order in. She was not engaging at all and appeared quite disheveled. We actually regretted tipping as much as we did. The rest of the staff were cheerful.
The oysters were very good, although a bit overpriced at $3.75 each, some of which are readily available at other establishments for a dollar or more less. The dishes were creative, fresh and flavorful. Food portions are small. We ordered two appetizers and two main courses and we were not completely sated.
Overall we were not thoroughly disappointed but based on the prices and portion sizes, we will move on.
Excellent restaurant. Good service, and food always fresh. Fish is excellent, with a nice range of choices.
Food is always great as is service. BUT I have come to realize that if you are hungry don’t eat here as portions are minuscule. We had the lobster and fries which took about 30 seconds to eat. Price should be half of what they are based on portions. Have gone here a dozen times but won’t bw returning as there are many other good places to eat with great service and food.
Loud neighbours next to us Great food as always. Fresh oysters and seafood.
My husband and I have been going here for decades. We usually have an appetizer of oysters (always super fresh) and then have mussels and frites. This time we invited friends who had not been here in years and they loved it. To celebrate we had deserts and they were amazing.
My wife and I were very pleased with the quality and presentation of the food...the Trout Pate... her whole lobster, and my Halibut Fish and chips were excellent.
Deb, said "Best Lobster".
The large, loud and mobile birthday party in this small restaurant enjoyed their evening; as a result, I did not.
It would have been useful to know of this booking in advance, or at least to have had an apology from the waiter when seated near the table.
Food was adequate, but not worth a special trip; the alcohol markup was excessive.
This was a second visit - the first had been encouraging, but the second disappointing, so unlikely to return.
On leaving, did notice 2 appealing menus nearby, so will definitely be back to the area.
We absolutely loved our experience. The food was incredible. Our waiter, Ken was kind and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the music and that it was too loud so we could converse. Overall great experience.
I have been to Zee Grill many times and have always been satisfied. This time, we were taking friends who were newcomers to the place. They requested a card so they could recommend it to others. Great food, easy-listening music, fantastic service!
Great as usual. Have been coming here since the early 80's. It only gets better.
We were dining with friends and chose this restaurant as a midway point for the two couples. It proved to be an enjoyable evening with delicious food.
Clam chowder, trout pate, beautifully prepared duck, seafood ‘stew’ and grilled halibut were all delicious.
The only downside was the very haphazard and slow service. We were never sure if we had our own waiter or if it was team service. Whichever it was it really didn’t work.
During the meal we were kept occupied chatting with our friends, but after a couple of hours we began to get a little annoyed with the slow pace.
Four piping hot coffees went cold waiting for cream which required 2 requests and 10 mins till it came. Surprisingly it took 20 mins to get the bill settled. 10 spent waiting for the bill after 2 requests and 10 more for the machine to appear, after two or three requests. Eventually the men had to go to the bar to expedite it!!
Like I said the food was excellent but I would suggest management look at ‘tidying up’ their service model and possibly the caliber of staff.
We did not eat extravagantly and at $100 per head it could have been a bit better.
Always great. One of my favourites!
Service was great! Closes early, Portions not big. Order lots of apps to help fill up. Beer options only local.. meh..
Excellent food, quality drinks, and extremely polite servers makes this one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a very long time. Highly recommend!
We have been to this restaurant a number of times before, but the last was probably 15 years ago. This place is a gem. I wish I lived closer to enjoy it more frequently. I had the Zee Salad. An outstanding presentation of the classic Caesar salad. Absolutely delicious. For an entrée I had the King Cole Duck. It was cooked perfectly medium rare as it should be, accompanied with two quenelles of potato....very yummy...a wonderful mix of mushrooms, tender haricots vert and a magnificent sauce. Just simply excellent. The service was also outstanding.
Thank you Chef and your team.
Three of us ate here and enjoyed ourselves - between us we had the crab cakes, zee salad, duck and encrusted panko halibut. All delicious and beautifully served. We did find the noise level
High which impeded our conversation. Great service.
Food was absolutely fantastic- Scallops and Mussels to start, and a half lobster dinner to finish. Everything was perfectly cooked, prepared and presented.
However.... our server really looked like he didn't want to be there and it was a bit off putting with the rest of the fantastic experience.
The quality of food and service was phenomenal. Staff were accomodating and always there to check up on you. The food was fresh and soooo good.
Absolutely wonderful. Food and Service was excellent. After going to the "best" seafood restaurant in Boston for virtually identical meal, Zee Grill beat Boston!
Came for anniversary. Great selection of oysters, though not cheap. All food choices were amazing. Service was great, attentive and helpful. Indoor dining room very noisy (patron conversations) so we decided to eat outside. Nice little patio, open air. Only suggestion would be to relocate dumpsters which are just outside patio area. Didn't notice any smell but did take away from the ambience. Would go back.
We have been coming here for 35 years or more and tend to come on special events. This past Saturday marked our 49th anniversary. We can count on great service, fabulous food and a pleasant atmosphere. Next year, the big 5 0, and we'll be back to share it with you.
It’s not a cheap evening, but for a special occasion it’s worth every dollar. Love the food and ambiance. Definitely recommend.
Amazing food! The seafood was fresh and delicious. My 7 year old love the fresh Newfoundland Cod fish and chips and my 9 year old tried his first oyster!
