We ended up there because of last minute plans and they had availability. You walk in and it’s half full. On a Saturday night. Not the norm in East Cobb.
They were out of what I ordered, which is understandable (or is it given they were half full). But I wasn’t told when ordering I was told 10 minutes later. Then I ordered the steak which was tough and fatty and wasn’t what I wanted.
This is my 3rd or 4th visit and my last. I see now why it was so empty. Too bad because the atmosphere & location is great.
This place is always right on point. Right down the street and the quality of food and service surpasses the dollar.
Always a go to spot!
My friend and I decided on Zeal before a movie on a week night. We arrived at 6pm and were seated in the dining room. There were no other patrons at all in the restaurant (other than a table in the bar having drinks). The waiter was not attentive in the least. He was not knowledgeable regarding menu items (oysters in particular). We were mainly served by the busser who was actually very nice and filled our water on occasion when the waiter was no where to be found. He took forever to take our order, he didn't deliver the food items, he didn't refill water, and it took forever to get our bill delivered at the end. We barely made it to our movie at 7:10 and as I mentioned there were no other patrons in the restaurant. Not a great experience to say the least. The staff was more interested in chatting with each other at the host stand than serving the one table that was there.
Food is very good. 90% of menu is gluten free too.
Steak said over risotto but it was over rice.
Very slow to get food out but food and server were great.
the food here used to be great. I always order the Scallop [st. Georges?]. This time the portions got smaller. The waitress brought me extra veggies. Not a help. The scallops were small and overdone and the veggies were dry as a bone. I had just had dinner at Drift last week for Easter and there portions were bigger [5 medium scallops instead of four small ones]. The scallops at Drift were juicy and delicious. The plus was that the waitress was great at Zeal. I probably will not be back; I'll go to drift instead.
We dined at Zeal for Easter lunch. They had a very creative Bloody Mary bar and a buffet brunch/lunch set up. While we had very good service, the buffet options were not very well explained -- no menus at the tables, a piece of paper to order an omelette. Buffet choices were good but not great -- obviously geared toward feeding a lot of people and not much originality in choices. I would not dine there again with a buffet set up, but in the past have very much enjoyed their unique menu so we will return for other meals.
We have had dinner there before and enjoyed it. Easter brunch was a disappointment. Food lacked flavor (no hint of truffles in Truffle Mac N Cheese), grits needed seasoning, and most items were cold (room temperature). For brunch buffet, I’d look elsewhere.
Delicious Sunday brunch - everyone raved about the food! The patio is adorable and quiet and perfect for a larger group. My favorite thing is that 90% of the menu is gluten free- Will be back!!
Great food...Cara was very friendly and attentive
I am writing this for my son who took his prom date there. He doesn't understand how restaurants work but told us they were seated and then ignored (or not waited on might be a better description) for about 20 minutes. Luckily, they left plenty of time to get to the prom and I told him after about 10 minutes with no service, you need to find a manager but unfortunate this happened on such a special night. Not enough to trash Zeal at all but a manager needs to be on the floor to make sure these things don't happen, particularly with kids who just patiently wait rather than do what you should do: Politely request service.
Did not have mignonette or fork for raw oysters, and food and drinks overpriced
Great find! Excellent food, excellent service. Will for sure return to Zeal.
Zeal never disappoints! Leo our server was so attentive for my mother’s birthday celebration. I love the gluten free options and the burger and brew night on Monday is suck a great value. It is our favorite place to go in east cobb!
Awesome food and awesome service!! We found this randomly on Opentable because we needed a spot near East Cobb to meet friends. Will defiantly be back!!
Excellent food and service. I always have a great experience at Zeal.
We went for a family get together and decided to go early because we had rwo small children with our group (2 and 6 months). The staff, and in particular, our waiter, could not have been nicer! So great with the kids and made us really welcome.
The food was amazing and the wine list is stellar. Sometime I am going to try one of the bourbons on thier extensive list of premium, small batch offerings. Will definitely go back whenever I am in the area.
The Fritters and tuna appetizers were great. I ordered the halibut; however, they only had sea bass. In my mind, that was a win because I love sea bass. The fish case out dry and over cooked. Everything else was good.
Everything was spot on. Very yummy Tomato Soup.
It was a birthday celebration for my Granddaughter. We had brunch and all enjoyed their meals very much. The brunch menu was varied enough so that everyone had something they liked. The special of the day was delicious. I usually do not order potatoes because I'm a Southern grits girl but the hash brown potatoes were the best I've ever had. I would have them again as my side for sure. I have eaten at Zeal's several times and am always pleased with my meal. They brought my Granddaughter a bread pudding dessert for her birthday with a candle. We had the booth in the back of the restaurant so it was like having someone taking care of you in your home because it's such a private area. We all loved it and will come again.
The reservation was made for Valentine’s Day. The time of arrival was early evening so it should not have been too busy for the restaurant. However after being seated it took exceedingly long for a server to arrive to arrive our table. In fact, I had to stop another server and inquire who was waiting on our table. Once we got our server, food arrive promptly and it was very tasty. The only other Faux pas was the need to ask the server for a spoon for the sauce bowl for my dish. My wife loved her salmon and indicated that she would order it again. So in that respect the meal was a success.
Clean, healthy food that is delicious!!! Great service!!!
Eaten there five times and service is always uneven. This time, Hostess sat us at table that was already available when we walked in 15 minutes earlier. We wanted and were told at that point we could have a booth after it was cleaned. Went to the bar and came back 15 minutes later and booth was being given away. Large party made the table we were given very noisy. They moved us and asked for my sandwich medium and got it well.
We had two veggie burgers and three draft beers and it was $50+. Not including tip. I always like going here but $$ for what you get.
Great food and service!!
best lunch spot in East Cobb. amazing salads, best wine selection and attentive service. Jake our server was great, very knowledgeable and welcoming. We are coming back tonight for wine down Wednesday and live music. Such a gem of a place.
Service was good, food delicious and ambience was pleasant.
What a disappointment. Review their menu on their website before making reservation.
It was NOT the same menu we saw online. Very limited choices. Order the fried chicken, it was just OK.. The burger was dry and tasteless and pricey for the quality of food. Too many other good places to eat in this part of town. Will not be returning
The service was spotty at best and inattentive at worst. We ordered two cocktails, which had creative and delicious sounding descriptions but were overly sweet. However, they were both generous pours. We had the goat cheese grit fritters for an app and were excited about them; however, we felt they were underseasoned and the red pepper jelly was overpowering and too sweet. Our entrees (fried chicken and redfish special) were both overcooked and underseasoned. The best part was the creamy red pepper sauce on the fish special. At the price tag we felt this was an underwhelming dining experience and we will not return.
Salmon over cooked, order was incorrect and I had water poured in my lap.
First time diner - server was amazing - food, wine, drinks - all exceptional. A new favorite. Will be back - often!!!
Great food. They focus on non-gluten options. It's not a big deal for me, but they definitely do it well.
Love to sit at the bar and eat dinner.... great food and friendly service.
Excellent dinner experience. Good wine list and selection of spirits. Attentive wait staff. Food was fresh and well seasoned.
Late Christmas lunch gathering at Zeal was a good choice. My girlfriends and I decided to do our holiday lunch at Zeal and we really enjoyed the entire experience. The gluten free Zucchini fries were my favorite and I am glad they have a nice boutique wine list with quite a few Oregon options as well. We will be back for Wine Down Wednesday and Live music. Our server Brent was very nice and attentive and the owner came by and explained all their gluten free options and recommended what each one of us should try. Beautiful decor and music selection.
We like zeal and my husband and I always go back for the Halibut and Steak Burger. Our family (kids) have lots of dietary restraints, from dairy, nut and garlic allergies. Scott, Jake, and Kristian (chef) always ensure that there are no issues or cross contaminations. We always feel welcomed and treated like family. Def our weekly go to place in East Cobb.
Restaurant was very empty. Service was very very slow .Food was good. Zucchini fries were dried out
