the restaurant was closed for renovations. We were not notified. I love this place normally. I really hope they will be back soon. would like to know when. thanks, debbi
Service was stellar. Thank you Brian. Food was prepared well and delicious. We enjoyed our experience. TG
Service was incredibly horrible, which ruined the experience. We wanted appetizers, but by the time the waiter finally came around we knew what we wanted for dinner and just wanted to eat. He asked if we had any questions, my wife asked one and he ran away after answering it and without waiting to ask if we were ready to order (or even for another question). It was over 30 minutes before another waiter asked if he could help us since we had been waiting so long. We saw our waiter only 2-3x in the nearly 2 hours it took for our two meals, the other waiter helped us most of the time. Food was good (not incredible), but the waiter charged another table bill to my credit card and that took another 10 minutes to correct. By the time we finally got that worked out, we saw we were overcharged but didn't want to wait around for the fix since we had already missed much of our date night. We tipped the spare sitter and no tipped ours. We were 1 of only 7 tables with customers, and 3 waiters, so that wasn't the issue. We won't be back.
This place has all the potential to be just as chic and popular as any midtown ATL eatery. The food was great (including several gluten-free options that they've taken care to make taste very good-no kidding). The service was excellent as well- we got dissertation level knowledge from our waiter. They've invested in the good decor- tiered lighting, wall and ceiling coverings, and tables and booths don't feel at all cheap. But this place doesn't quite know who they are yet, or so it seems. And I'm guessing it's the reason they can't get the last star on several of these reviews.
I love the band The Killers (I heard 3 of their songs while I was there) and a Bachman Turner Overdrive song too! But do these really mix with my butcher steak over gluten-free risoto my date's Vegetarian Lasagna? C'mon Zeal- commit. Just get a DJ to play pretentious lounge music on Fridays/Saturdays or put on some low-level electronica that no one understands. Get that wait staff in all one color. Most people want to feel cooler than we actually are, and we'll pay for the privilege. As it was, I felt greatly satisfied by the food, price and service but the ambiance confused me.
The food and service were outstanding! We hadn’t been to Zeal in a while and now we aren’t sure why! Will be back soon!!
Everyone should give Zeal a try. I’ve been many times and have always had a positive experience.
Food was tasty & we were impressed. Premises clean. Price was a little on the steep side for a strip mall location with an empty dining room on a Friday night.
So, there were several problems here. Restaurant was out of a couple of menu options, and it took forever to get our food. 45 minutes for the lunch to arrive. Then we ordered dessert, thinking surely it must be ready. Nope, another 15 minutes. The server, who was really nice, said the dessert hadn't been "prepped" yet. If you're going to put the desserts on the lunch menu, why don't you have them "prepped" by 1:30pm? The restaurant was fairly empty, so there was no obvious reason for these delays. Also, we used a couple of gift cards to pay and paid the remaining balance with a credit card, and the restaurant charged a tip on top of the tip we gave (which was already 20%, as we didn't want to punish the nice server for the slow process). The food we received was good (except the chocolate lava cake, which was stale) but this was a business lunch and it kept our party out of the office for nearly two hours from start to finish. Therefore, I wouldn't choose Zeal again for this type of meal.
Service was a little slow, but the food was really good. Why weren’t more people eating there last night?
The food was ok. I will leave at that. I had the steak my wife had the fish.
The halibut and the calamari are outstanding. Drinks are good and fairly priced. Would recommend this.
Good food again!
Music too loud. Food good but expensive. Fried chicken was $25 ?? Service great but we were the only customers
The food was really good nice quiet location not a lot of traffic which was shocking as it’s a very nice spot for a date
zeal knows how to throw big parties. We had a wedding rehearsal dinner their for 75 people and they executed without hitch. The bride and groom had a special night and the food and beverage package was above and beyond with reasonable prices.
TRY THE IMPOSSIBLE BURGER & THE SCALLOPS. music and ambiance is very nice. Our service was perfect. Food presentation was outstanding. Our server Rasheed made the experience even better. We will be back and request him again.
The food was WAAAAAAYYY too salty. We ordered calamari, which tasted like they had dumped an entire can of salt on it. Then when the meal arrived, the fries tasted very similar. The food quality has definitely gone down since they opened a few years ago and it was evident way the empty restaurant. Also, our server, who only had 2 tables, never came to ask us if we wanted a refill on our drinks.
GREAT NEW MENU! Tried zeal for lunch for the first time this summer. The new lunch and beverage menu is great. lot more variety and they brought back the strawberry salad and soup de jour! cant wait to try the new dinner menu. This is one of our fav east cobb spots, we will be back more often.
40 minuets to get food for party of 5 after ordering. Only 4 tables in he whole restaurant were occupied on Fathers Day lunch. The party of 8 that was seated after our party was served their food several minutes before us. Disappointed that there was no explanation either. Mahi sandwich was not a fillet, but nuggets on sandwich bread.
great lunch spot. very trendy atmosphere. Dining room had a nice ambiance and our lunch sandwiches very perfect recommendations. Be back soon for dinner a date.
This is our 4th timing coming to Zeal in the last few months. Every time its been a great experience. The Gluten Free fried chicken and the goat cheese grit fritters with the pepper jelly are my favorite! My husband loves the 9 oz filet and gets it every time! go on Wine Down Wednesday when they have great wines for 1/2 off and live music, can't beat that. Ask for Zack or Leo at the Bar. Scott makes great recommendations as well.
My wife and went on a Thursday night. It was very quiet, no crowd. We shared the Kale Salad as an appetizer; it was excellent; as usual American size portion was more than enough for two of us. I had the Scallops and my wife had the Halibut. Scallops were done perfectly, the mushrooms had great woody flavor and the Brussel sprouts were crisp and al dente. My wife very much enjoyed the Halibut. Two Thumbs up for Zeal, plan to go back soon.
Food did not seem fresh and wasn’t good. Service was a bit scattered even though only one other group was in the entire place. Disappointing; ESPECIALLY for the amount of money.
outstanding establishment. love the new summer menu. The impossible burger and the scallops were quite the dishes. Service was on point, our server Brent was very attentive and the beverage program was top notch, not to mention a highly rated bourbon.whiskey menu. a must try!
We were very disappointed with Zeal. They completely forgot about the appetizer we ordered. The Brussel sprouts came out burnt and had to be sent back. The veggie burger was small and tough and way overpriced. The rest of the food was mediocre. Water glasses were not refilled until after the meal was over.
Given the reviews and the menu we were expecting much better.
The wings were ok. I could tell that they were boiled and then grilled. The lunch steak plate with risotto was overpriced the steak was over cooked, but the chef prepared it again.
It was a quiet Monday night, not too many distractions which allowed my wife and I to have a quiet dinner and casual conversation. The quality of the food is amazing, it takes a little longer but it’s well worth the wait.
This was just the right spot for a business lunch. We came here for Mothers day Brunch and we had a great time, so today i decided to bring my staff for a work lunch. Lunch was awesome, fast, and to the point. They have a little bit of everything for everyone and pretty much everything gluten free! good job zeal!! btw please do not ever take the kale salad or chicken lollipops off the menu!
such an amazing local spot. We have been going to Zeal for two years now. We finally got to meet the owner Scott, as he was the one to seat us. Such a family oriented environment and team work. Everyone seems to enjoy their job. I had the new strawberry salad and my husband had the steak burger. Both very good. We will be back tomorrow for the low country boil!
We’ve been going to Zeal fairly regularly since they opened, and this last visit was the first time we were disappointed. The recent changes to the menu seemed to get rid of some of our favorite entrees. The food we did get was good, but not great. We had been used to scraping our plates clean, but this time the food was only average. I’m not sure if they’ve changed something in the back of the house, but it wasn’t we’re accustomed to. I hope the fix things, as it had been one of our favorite local restaurants.
Mother’s Day - They ran out of Hamburger...yes ran out of hamburger. Made no offer of concession for their poor ability to mgmt. this is the second time I have had a poor experience with ZEAL. The first was poor service. Waited at our table for 15 minutes until someone walked up and ask us if we need something. Like what’re your doing here? Both times should have walked out and almost did. Recovered the fist time, therefore we came back no recovery tonight. No more ZEAL to go back. Like the menu and live music. Nice bourbon selection, but was not offered that tonight either.
They just never seem to put it all together with our experiences. Maybe more training?
We had a large group (adults/children) and it the service was somewhat slow. The restaurant was also slow, so I would have expected the service to be quicker. They were out of 'meat' for hamburgers/cheeseburgers (one on their highlighted items on their menu). The kids chicken fingers were a little too fancy for kids. The waiter did bring out a slice of cake for the birthday guest, which was nice. Overall, for our specific group, we should've chosen somewhere else to eat. Maybe good for a date night or GNO.
We were just here two Sunday’s ago and so we expected the same food and service quality. We sat outside and that was lovely but my husband had to get up because no server came to us. We were quite disappointed this time. They only had a brunch menu available. While the selection was okay, the food wasn’t even warm while on the buffet table, not to mention the buffet table was quite messy with scattered food debris. Plus we had to wait awhile to get started eating since our server did not have silverware for us and I had to get up and ask the host to bring us some. For $29 per person, it certainly wasn’t worth it.
We visited Zeal for Mother's Day. They were serving a buffet. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. However, we had no eating utensils or napkins. Our server was very apologetic but evidently someone did not start the dishwasher. There were 3 in our party and she managed to scrounge up two spoons and a fork so we could at least start eating. The food was very good. Eating utensils and napkins showed up halfway through the meal.
Tragically bad. Start with the restaurant offering and accepting a 10 am brunch reservation via OpenTable. When we arrived they were still setting up... no food on the Mother's Day buffet, empty boxes on the floor, employees wondering aimlessly, etc. No worries, we'll order a drink from the brunch drink menu the hostess provided when we sat down. "Sorry, no drinks before 12:30." While our server went to get the water, the guy two tables over ordered and was served a Bloody Mary... what!? Dirty dishes on the buffet, cold food intended to be served hot that was freshly brought from the kitchen, terrible table service, etc. All for the $132 brunch buffet for 4... LOL.
My wife has a gluten allergy and the team at Zeal did a fantastic job with her food. A ton of GF option.
The menu is fantastic and the restaurant is trendy. We love the gluten free options!
Service was great. Food was slightly above average.
We were seated quickly - the place was quite empty (only 10 - 11 tables were occupied).
My party and I waited patiently to be greeted by our server - we waited 12 minutes and no one came over to welcome us or offer to get us drinks.
My prediction - based on friends and family that have been to Zeal - they are destined to shut down in the near future.
I'll be hard-pressed to return - even though I love their spicy fried chicken.
Sad to say the least.
Wonderful selection for those wanting lunch and the others having brunch. Waitress attentive.
