Zeal Ratings and Reviews
It was a birthday celebration for my Granddaughter. We had brunch and all enjoyed their meals very much. The brunch menu was varied enough so that everyone had something they liked. The special of the day was delicious. I usually do not order potatoes because I'm a Southern grits girl but the hash brown potatoes were the best I've ever had. I would have them again as my side for sure. I have eaten at Zeal's several times and am always pleased with my meal. They brought my Granddaughter a bread pudding dessert for her birthday with a candle. We had the booth in the back of the restaurant so it was like having someone taking care of you in your home because it's such a private area. We all loved it and will come again.
The reservation was made for Valentine’s Day. The time of arrival was early evening so it should not have been too busy for the restaurant. However after being seated it took exceedingly long for a server to arrive to arrive our table. In fact, I had to stop another server and inquire who was waiting on our table. Once we got our server, food arrive promptly and it was very tasty. The only other Faux pas was the need to ask the server for a spoon for the sauce bowl for my dish. My wife loved her salmon and indicated that she would order it again. So in that respect the meal was a success.
Eaten there five times and service is always uneven. This time, Hostess sat us at table that was already available when we walked in 15 minutes earlier. We wanted and were told at that point we could have a booth after it was cleaned. Went to the bar and came back 15 minutes later and booth was being given away. Large party made the table we were given very noisy. They moved us and asked for my sandwich medium and got it well.
best lunch spot in East Cobb. amazing salads, best wine selection and attentive service. Jake our server was great, very knowledgeable and welcoming. We are coming back tonight for wine down Wednesday and live music. Such a gem of a place.
What a disappointment. Review their menu on their website before making reservation.
It was NOT the same menu we saw online. Very limited choices. Order the fried chicken, it was just OK.. The burger was dry and tasteless and pricey for the quality of food. Too many other good places to eat in this part of town. Will not be returning
The service was spotty at best and inattentive at worst. We ordered two cocktails, which had creative and delicious sounding descriptions but were overly sweet. However, they were both generous pours. We had the goat cheese grit fritters for an app and were excited about them; however, we felt they were underseasoned and the red pepper jelly was overpowering and too sweet. Our entrees (fried chicken and redfish special) were both overcooked and underseasoned. The best part was the creamy red pepper sauce on the fish special. At the price tag we felt this was an underwhelming dining experience and we will not return.
Late Christmas lunch gathering at Zeal was a good choice. My girlfriends and I decided to do our holiday lunch at Zeal and we really enjoyed the entire experience. The gluten free Zucchini fries were my favorite and I am glad they have a nice boutique wine list with quite a few Oregon options as well. We will be back for Wine Down Wednesday and Live music. Our server Brent was very nice and attentive and the owner came by and explained all their gluten free options and recommended what each one of us should try. Beautiful decor and music selection.
We like zeal and my husband and I always go back for the Halibut and Steak Burger. Our family (kids) have lots of dietary restraints, from dairy, nut and garlic allergies. Scott, Jake, and Kristian (chef) always ensure that there are no issues or cross contaminations. We always feel welcomed and treated like family. Def our weekly go to place in East Cobb.
I’ve been to this restaurant several times and it’s been steadily declining over the years. Food was always a bit pricey, but it used to be worth it. Now it’s mediocre at best and therefore very overpriced for what you get - lukewarm, tasteless soup; dry, burnt burgers not served as ordered; spinach salad with little else in the bowl except the greens, etc. Plus, the lighting is atrocious. There are no shades on the large windows and at lunch time on a sunny day you are almost literally blinded by the light reflecting off the parked cars. My friend wore her sunglasses throughout the meal. Not a pleasant experience overall!
This was my first time at Zeal. I went for lunch and the food was good. However, there was only 1 other party there and the service was awful! We were there for 1 1/2 hours! Don’t know what took the food so long to come out, but I am glad that I didn’t have to go back to work. I ordered the lunch grilled chicken sandwich and it was good. Nothing to brag about. Maybe with it being the holiday season, they were short help, but still with a total of 2 parties (total of 7 people—3 in my party and 4 in the other), they should have been faster with their service.
Five of us girls who get together for birthdays decided to try Zeal. We were very happy with our decision. Most of us ordered the grilled cheese with caramelized onion and pepper with the homemade basil tomato soup. The sandwich was delicious, on sour dough bread! Our waiter had quite the personality and was also a comic! Thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
This is my third time at zeal and my first time at brunch and was pleasantly surprised how delicious my meal was. I always look at the menu and think it’s one thing but when I get it it’s something else and so delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Just a great atmosphere where you can actually hear the party you are with and not everyone else.
This was only our 3rd time at Zeal and it was a great experience. We tried their whole fish special which was the bronzini and the new fall salmon dish. Wine list is nice and boutique. I like their bourbon collection and it is probably the best outside the perimeter. Go try the George T. Stagg, they have 2 bottles.
We love Zeal. It is such a friendly and cozy environment. Scott makes us feel at home. We know Scott from 2 years ago and this was an important week for him with the wedding, but considering we made a reservation he still came by to make sure we had a good experience. Service was top notch and the new fall/winter menu was really nice as well. Be back next week!
It was not a pleasant experience. It took 40 minutes to get our food. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Our food came out over cooked and dried out. The French fries were not fully cooked. The waitress and manager argued with us when we told them the food was over cooked and took too long to get something else. Not good at all.
Server was obviously new and struggled to open a bottle of wine. Fortunately a manager appeared and opened the wine. Brought out our entrees before our salad. Took the entrees back, kept them warm, and then brought out the salad we were sharing. My pork chop was dry and a bit over done.
Have been to Zeal many times and generally had a good experience. This was not one of them..
The food was not as good as last time we were at Zeal and it seemed not as fresh as during the weekend. The waitress didn't understand the allergy substitution I needed, but one of the managers came to the table and knew exactly what I was requested. We'll go back to Zeal again, but probably on the weekend.
The food was really good. I had a chicken dish (special of the day); and my father had traditional grilled cheese and tomato soup. The bread was unique and very fresh, light, and tasted great.
The only downside - the lunch crowd was very light... such a great local restaurant and not a big lunch crowd is a shame. Hopefully they are packed for diner and other times of the day!
We went to Zeal for lunch. It was a birthday lunch and our friend is a celiac. We loved all the options available, as the menu was 90% gluten free. Short rib grilled cheese was my favorite and our gluten free friend had a couple gluten free starters. Overall a nice experience, very industrial and modern look. We will be back for dinner.
big fan of Zeal, I have been coming here for 4 years now. we went last Wednesday for ladies night out and Wine down Wednesday. It was very busy and the service started a little slow but our server Celia eventually caught up and did a great job. Glad the live music is no longer there, we can actually hear each other and this place is very nice and the live music ruins the ambiance. We will be back for their Beer Dinner next Thursday the 5th!
