Zea Rotisserie & Grill - Metairie Rd Ratings and Reviews
Reagan our waitress was GREAT!! Until she brought the check. I seen we purchased the bottle of La'Creme for $15.00 dollars. Ooops that's right it wasn't the price for the bottle, it was for ONE GLASS of WINE!! $15.00 bucks for a glass.
Thanks Reagan for making the experience worth coming back for.
We went to Zea for Friday night dinner. We couldn't agree on what we wanted and Zea's menu is pretty diverse. We know and like Zea, but this was the first time we had been to the new one on Metairie Road. Used to go there when it was Semolina and Mizado, though, so we are very familiar with it. The food was very good. The service, not so much. They explained that their computer went down, but they should have a back-up plan for getting orders into and out of the kitchen when this happens. Also, they were seating guests at tables that still had the checks on them from the prior guests. There were several tables like that. After we were seated, it took too long for them to bring water, too long for them to take drink orders. When we weren't ready to order our entrees immediately when the drinks hit the table, I had a bad feeling that the waitress wouldn't come back to take our order for quite a while. I was right. The next thing that happened was another waitress came and told us our food would be out shortly, but we hadn't even ordered. She took our order and after that, it didn't take too long for the food to come out. The food was very good, but I have a problem with them charging me $5.50 for a side dish. My meal came with 2 sides. I ordered one from the regular menu and one from the "special" menu. The regular sides are $3.50 and the "special" ones are $5.50. On the bill, they charged me $5.50 for the sauteed spinach. I thought they would just charge me $2.00 extra for the difference in price. That's just not right to charge me the full freight when I substituted an item that was only $2.00 more than the one I would have gotten otherwise. The food was good, though. The best things were the fried catfish, the duck, the salmon and the grits. Everything else was okay, nothing to write home about. Hope they work out the kinks in service.
They closed Mizado (interesting and unique take on Peruvian and Spanish dishes) to re-open as Zea's "but kept some beloved Mizado dishes". Sorry, friends, this is just Zea's with guacamole and a few margaritas on the menu. Zea's has a time (early 2000) and a place (Kenner's chain restaurant capital), but Metairie Rd isn't the place for this restaurant. The food is always decent, but lacks interest.
Great for a quick dinner that you know won't break the bank. But, i'd suggest looking elsewhere for the inspired cuisine you've come to expect of New Orleans and surrounding areas.
