Zazie Ratings and Reviews
The reviews of Zazie are true and with good reason. The food served here has a true wow factor in every dish and it's worth trusting the staff with the information they give you.
One of the other reasons I truly respect Zazie is that they pay their staff a true wage, with all conditions and benefits. Net result, they have staff who are faithful to the business and it shows on the care with which each dish is prepared and served.
A truly stunning event.
We were so pleased to find this 25 year old restaurant. Our first time was a leisurely dinner on a Saturday evening. Never hurried by a thoughtful and welcoming staff. The Pork chop was amazing as was the duck. Starters we’re also first rate. We ordered the mussels and the chicken Pate and again, absolutely delicious. Their wine list included Farm Worker Chardonnay by Maldonado. Tasty on first opening and continued to improve while it lasted. Also worth mentioning is Zazie’s policy of NO TIPPING. Read their ‘about’ information for the full story. Whenever we’re in SFO Zazie is now a must visit.
I love free corkage Tuesday’s, but don’t forget to leave an extra tip if you bring bottles! Zazie has a great menu for special occasions, as well as casual dinners where you’d like to keep it lighter. There are lots of items that easy to share with some friends. The backyard is gorgeous and heated well year round.
Unusually great wait-staff, thoughtful recall to get me an earlier time. Friendly ambiance. Started with a delightful roll and salad and knew it would be a great first-time experience. My duck was medium rare as ordered and very tender. Maybe it's a matter of personal preference, but there was (for me) too much on the duck plate. Too many items, which probably to some makes it "fancy" but I like simpler approaches. I don't want my duck hidden under stuff. My date ordered coq au vin and I'm sorry but it wasn't coq au vin, it was chicken and a lot of noodles. No palpable taste of red wine, no fluid base; not what you'd find in any recipe for that French dish. The chicken was moist and fine... but one shouldn't call it coq au vin because folks like us who love French cooking kinda want what we ordered. My conclusion: we won't go back - but I think they know how to cook well, it's just that tendency to over-elaborate and mess with classics. Simplify, and be authentic, guys, and you'll have a great place to frequent.
Best pork chop I've ever had...and I've had a lot of pork chops. Very interesting take with the bread pudding underneath, but it came together as a surprisingly fun and yummy dish. Excellent ambiance as always. No corkage fee on Tuesdays makes it more affordable. Perfect for a date.
Zazie's never disappoints. The only strange thing this time was having an edgy waiter. I've never experienced that here. All in all the entire staff is wonderful. The food is fantastic, from trout to steak to a pork chop. The small house salad was pretty bland though. Brunch is amazing too. Eggs Monaco are over the top.
First time at Zazie. Cozy interior plus heated patio dining. Delicious puréed tomato eggplant soup . Sliced duck breast over garlic sautéed spinach and mashed yam was perfectly prepared. My friends enjoyed a coq au vin and beef bourgeion.
Splurged on creme brûlée and a yummy bread pudding topped with creme brûlée. I had heard about it for brunch but dinner was great. Prices include tip!
Business meeting with a glass of wine and cheese plate. The wait staff was attentive and not intrusive. Asked initially if we needed to get to another event so she could appropriately address any time constraints.
Didn't feel any pressure and staff great and gave very good recommendations regarding wine and food.
