What Insiders Are Saying
Zazie is a Cole Valley institution at brunch, but don't sleep on dinner here either.
The service was a little off this time. We seemed forgotten - left alone ?! - but we had lots of time, so it turned out not to be a big deal.
amazingly good food, a bit close quarters but absolutely worth it.
Great food and service, as always! I enjoy the outdoor dining here, not normally something I would go for. At Zazie, however, I usually request it.
Amazing food, amazing service. The date went just perfect)
We love Zazie. We went on Valentines Day dinner-a prixfixe menu. Between the 2 of us we had every selection. The neighborhood low-key ambiance has always attracted us and we like the no tipping policy. The country French cuisine is always well prepared-that night special dishes were the wild mushroom soup and the beef bourginon. Dessert was Strawberry-rhubarb crumble with creme fraiche-delicious . Prices are very reasonable including extensive wine by the glass selections which are well curated . We’ll be back!
Great place, been going there for years. A bit cold outside on the covered patio, despite
the heaters though
I brought three friends I had taught with 40 years ago. One of the women had never been to Zazie and she was raving with every bite of her Crispy Duck Entree. The rest of us were thoroughly happy with our selection of Bourride Zadie (seafood stew), Pasta de la Courge, and Poisson en Papillote (salmon in parchment paper). The wait-staff were wonderful, too. Can't wait 'til our next visit!
We really enjoyed food, service and atmosphere in this hidden gem. By all means, check it our
Zazie is great!! Patio so pretty-good & service excellent!
Fabulous for dinner- I always typically come for brunch with I was impressed by the dinner menu and plan to come back!
I always enjoy an evening at Zazie"s.
I also write a comment pertaining to the bathroom. Even a teeny space can be nicely decorated..and not be an expensive face lift.
Everyone was incredibly polite and helpful, and the food was fantastic. It was easy to feel welcome and get comfortable, and the perfect spot for an anniversary dinner. Highly recommended. Thank you, Zazie! Hope to be back soon.
Lovely place with great service. Food not as good this time as previous times, especially dessert which was disappointing.
As always, Zazie never disappoints. Delicious food, and a comfortable and warm ambiance.
We've been coming to Zazie for years and years and they never fail to deliver. Food, service, ambiance were all outstanding as usual.
Always a favorite place to dine and catch up with friends and family.
Loved dog night!
I usually get the boeuf bourguignon which is delicious. They have good wine and, for dessert, the Ginger Cake is divine. Their staff is also great - I've never had a bad experience. They have a small outside area in back and it's lovely - the heat lamps keep it nice and toasty when it's cold.
This was a HUGE disappointment at a restaurant we have dined at often.
The pork chop I ordered was ill-prepared, extremely dry, something I would never have expected at Zazie's. I've ordered the pork chop before and was told it took a while to prepare. And in the past I've been patient knowing it would indeed be worth waiting for. In this case the pork chop appeared in ten minutes and obviously had been way overcooked.
When I complained to our wait person I was told he would pass our feelings on to the chef.
My companion was not happy with his parchment salmon either and found it difficult to access in order to eat. But he chose not to voice his displeasure.
Our service was poor. Another wait person was needed to accommodate the very crowded rear outdoor dining area .
This was a shame for us who are (or were) loyal Zazie diners and neighborhood folk.
I enjoyed my first visit much better. Service was not very good at all. I took a friend for her birthday because I enjoyed my first experience and it just wasn’t great. We brought wine and the server did not even poor it for us. Tried several times to get his attention and no luck. Tables were way too close together no privacy. Cheese and bread plate was amazing!!
We’re eaten here many times and we’ve always had great tasting food and superior service. On this night we learned that our server Elsa was moving back to France. We were sorry to hear this as she has served us many times and was always friendly and made dining there so enjoyable. Even though she will he missed and we wish her well we will be back again because all of Zazie’s wait staff is fantastic and the food first rate.
Zazie is like a dear, old friend. The food is great of course, but at the end of the day it's the warmth that keeps us coming back. Delightful!
If you go to Zazie, it's almost compulsory to have the French Onion soup, so when they don't have it on the menu, it's actually really disappointing.
Technically, I don't believe it's possible to go wing with their menu, whatever you select, it will knock you out for flavour and preparation.
I found the service a touch disinterested, which also was disappointing. What I really admire the owner of Zazie for is that he pays his staff a real wage, which means tips aren't expected or encouraged. It also shows he really does value his people. Major cuedos for this.
I felt like I was in France!
Food and service were excellent.
The Porkchop was exceptional!
Excellent New Year's Eve price fixe. Loved the food, service, and whole evening.
Great service, food and ambiance. Zazie is perfect for a special event or for casual dining. But, you must love good food. I suggest eating there when you have the time to savor your food and appreciate the care that has gone into it. Always fresh and tasty.
Such a find. Besides having no idea that the ares existed. To find such s wonderful place helped make the evening
We went to Night Bloom at the Conservatory of Flowers after to cap off a delightful evening.
Clearly one of the best bistros in San Francisco! This meal was for a very special occasion and we all had a great time. Food, service and casual, but sophisticated ambiance.
We want to Zazie for the first time after seeing it featured on "Check Please." Wow! How could we have not discovered this place before? The food is delicious, the ambiance is great, and GG Park is nearby for a walk afterwards.
First time completely blindsided and disappointed with Open table ratings. Not even close to a 4.8. Not 3.8. 2.8 at best.
Excellent food as usual and the service was wonderful! Merci beaucoup!
Prompt service and tasty food. Good variety of menu options
Our party of three took the only reservation we could get, at 5:00 PM (which is much earlier than we normally eat). We were the first guests to arrive for the dinner seating and were given a table by the window which was both quieter and less pinched for space than being in the main part of the dining room.
We were pleased by our experience. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. . . and I appreciate that there is no tipping because Zazie attempts to do well by its staff and builds a higher wage and other benefits into their business model, which all guests contribute to, included in the final bill.
If there were only more stars to give. We will be back!
Wonderful service. Excellent food!
Zazie is a great "locals" french restaurant in Cole Valley that serves excellent french food and generous portions. It is located in Cole Valley and the ambience both on the street and in the restaurant is warm and inviting. The service was also excellent.
The staff seem to truly enjoy working here which makes the experience exceptional.
Wonderful. They should revisit their crumble. There are many better toppings. Zazie’s was underwhelming and I had so looked forward to the pear ginger option. I only took one bite. Not worth the calories...otherwise an outstanding experience
Love the atmosphere, the food was excellent, and the service was attentive without overwhelming. Only one suggestion - nearly as soon as we ordered our salad/soup were on the table, and as soon as they were taken away the entrees showed up. We would have been quite happy with a more extended dining experience at a more leisurely pace.
