What Insiders Are Saying
Another Jose Andres spot with solid tapas. Head to Zaytinya for a power lunch that doesn’t feel like a power lunch.
Have lived 10 years in Amman, Jordan and while Zaytinya’s I would consider “fusion” mezzo, it’s excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Food was served quickly, Maggi our server was excellent and friendly, if I have any complaint it would be good to have warned us on some our orders that not everyone at our table would get a taste of each dish. We were 5 people but the kibbeh only came in 4 pieces. The wow dish for me was the fish. Succulent,
Go here. The food is amazing!! Excellent service!!!
We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. The service was horrible, extremely slow and rude.
Long time to not go to Zaytinya, and we discover that have better menu, keeping the old time favorites. Please, do a reservation to go there unless you want to wait for long.
We tried four tapas and it was good enough for 2 people. Vegetarian dishes are a must! Eggplant is delicious!
Excellent regional food and wine. Made you feel like you were dining in the Levant except for the modern surroundings. Partition between the bar and dining tables let the crowd party while diners enjoyed a more moderate noise level. Valet parking was most helpful at a reasonable price.
We Love Zaytinya!!! Never miss a lunch or dinner there when we are visiting DC!!!💕
Good stuff our waiter was good.
I return to Zaytinya again and again. I love this place!
Worst birthday lunch ever! Our waiter was an airhead and ignored us. We only got 2 of 3 entrees ordered and one of them was completely tasteless. Can't say we will be back anytime soon.
The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We enjoyed the evening and look forward to returning.
My husband and I dined at Zaytinya for my birthday this week. We've done so before because I have food allergies and can always leave happy after dining at Zaytinya. I really want to give a special shout out to Valeria Linares, who greeted us so warmly and apologized for a very slight wait (we were early-no apology necessary). She also checked on us several times during the evening to make sure everything was going well. So gracious! Danielle Scott (another shout-out!) was truly our server with the mostest! Again, a very warm greeting-knew I had food allergies and addressed them right away. We did have the allergen menu but garlic and onion allergies do not always show up and she checked every dish with the chef. The chef made some amazing dishes-I asked Danielle just to let the chef make what she wanted-except lamb. The smoked octopus over fava bean puree was incredible and the pork belly with black eyed peas another wonderful treat. Can't wait to return and thank you to the staff for such a great birthday dinner.
Our server, Renee, was terrific - very friendly, patient, and helpful. The Brussels sprouts (not the raw ones) were amazing, and the hazelnut tartufo with chocolate ice cream might be my favorite dessert ever.
So good I went back for lunch in the same week. Small plates , wonderful food. Great service. Highly recommend for all.
Outstanding as always. Great Greek Sav Blanc. Tried a new dish - lamb shoulder. Really excellent. Try the Cauliflower Tiganites. Service was steady as usual. A consistently good restaurant in Penn Quarter. If you have not tried Z you must put it on your list!
The meat dishes are really bad and not worth the price. The vegetable dishes are very good. Service does not justify the price or the place. The waiter was subtly rude and condescending
This restaurant has an innovative twist on Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine. Some of the dishes were outstanding. I wish our waitress took a bit a little the time understanding the dishes and explaining them as it did the chef and the kitchen staff designing and executing them. She was totally uninformed and uninterested. Service needs more attention and better training. Otherwise, the place will lose customers.
Had dinner during short trip to DC. Will definitely visit Texas location, close to home. Service was wonderful and menu selection quite extensive. Something for everyone.
Great experience! First time and heard great things. It was terrific that the waitress, Danielle, was knowledgeable about the menu to share recommendations. It was delicious and an overall success, as acclaimed my non-foody companion.
Just amazing experience all around- delicious and unusual food, very attentive and helpful service, and a modern, clean atmosphere. Happy to have found this through online reviews and would highly recommend to anyone visiting DC.
Great food and a terrific atmosphere. Good service. We always enjoy coming.
Zaytinya is a gem, gives new definition to mezze and Mediterranean cuisine with intriguing and delicious flavor combinations. The ambiance is bright and lively. The service highly attentive and friendly. It's a wonderful experience for an afternoon or evening out or a special occasion.
The food is superb. I appreciate that the servers are so attuned to my seafood allergy. I always find many vegan and vegetarian options. The hummus is probably the best I have ever had.
Just seems tired and in need of a complete revamp
The menus had food stains on them, my chair (upstairs) seemed to be on its gasp ( you could rock back and forth even though it’s not a rocking chair)
Food was fine, but menu has been the same for a while
Wonderful, as always!
Delicious healthy food, love the small plates, dined with a couple of vegetarians so lots of choices
Had a reservation and we were sat immediately. Food was delicious but the pork chops could have been meatier and more taste for 2 at $25. Our waitress was wonderful with a great sense of humor. It’s always a treat to have dinner here. Would highly recommend.
Excellent food, very good service and very dependable
I find Zaytinya exceptional with creative delightful dishes to share. I will be back!
I am a Zaytinya veteran, having celebrated several of my own birthday celebrations there.
I brought my Goddaughter and her 2 friends for luncheon to celebrate her 16th birthday and the young ladies LOVED it. Our server was lovely and patient. My guests ordered 4 courses of their own choices of mezze. They had a blast sharing and experiencing new flavor combinations. They are already planning a return, were completely hooked on the fresh pita, and wanted to know if they could tour the kitchen...so this is my ask!
Excellent atmosphere, excellent food, and excellent service!
We went there for brunch/lunch, zo it was relatively quite. Other times we've been there it's been. .noisier. We love the food and very happy that they accommodate folks with food allergies.
This is a Jose Andres restaurant, so perhaps my expectations were a bit too high. Zaytinya clearly has all the trappings for fine dining but it missed the mark. The location is ideal for visitors and locals alike. It is beautifully designed and manages to control the sound well. It is likely important to make reservations; we did and hardly had any wait time. The host & hostess welcomed us warmly and showed us to our table. To be fair to our server, we chose a Friday night at 8:30pm and the place was packed, so he was busy. It was my first time to Zaytinya. Generally speaking, I am an easy touch when I am looking forward to a good meal. A few simple suggestions by a pleasant and informed server will add a lot to my experience, to the restaurant's check and to the server's tip. We were offered little in the way of help or guidance. The food is tasty and presented well. We did not bother to have a dessert. My partner, who was with me, tells me he has had a better experience there in the past. Do I dare try my luck again?
Always terrific. No disappointments. Left it to the chef.
The service was excellent and we were able to eat a lovely dinner before attending a show at Ford's theater, just a 4 minute walk away. All of the flavors were perfectly balanced in the food and the cocktails. It was loud and very busy, but everything ran smoothy. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic evening. Our food and service was excellent!
Always one my favorites...
The food, service, and atmosphere were fine, as they always have been. One person in our party needs to be on a gluten-free diet, and it's been a bit disappointing that the number and variety of gluten-free menu items seems to have declined in recent years.
noisy. had to shout to hear my 2 dinner companions. have been there many times. it just keeps getting noisier, I won't be going back again.
Went for my mum's 72nd birthday and it was marvelous.
