What Insiders Are Saying
Another Jose Andres spot with solid tapas. Head to Zaytinya for a power lunch that doesn’t feel like a power lunch.
Great food and terrific service from our great waitress. We had a long wait time and the host would not acknowledge us and instead talked to his co-host about payday when there was a long line waiting to be sat.
Birthday, food atmosphere and service were great
Fantastic .. I still keep craving it!! All shared plates, food was incredible, desserts amazing!! Can’t recommend enough
It was a great experience and there are so many wonderful food options. Truly enjoyed it.
Fabulous food, great ambiance, awesome experience. I would go again in a heartbeat!
A couple of fishers were underwhelming:
Mujaddara and cold fries. The Haloumi was great as was the babaganoush
It was a great experience and fabulous food.
Had mezze lunch. Brussels sprouts and kebab were fabulous but everything was delicious!
The only reason I rated service low was an extreme wait between our servings. There was over 20 minutes between the Octopus Santorini and the Chicken/lamb servings... everything else was excellent. I am from Houston, TX and will come back to this restaurant.
The food was super yummy. The falafels were amazing and they catered for my dietary issue too. The food is tapas style so for 2 people it is recommended to order minimum of 5 dishes to share. The ambience was amazing staff were very attentive.
The food and service were both excellent. For a Monday night this place was PACKED!
Have been to Zaytinya many times. Always enjoy the food and atmosphere.
I love this restaurant. Food is excellent quality! José Andrés is a genius chef!
Great food. Great service. Loud environment during lunch.
My husband and I have been going here for years. We know how certain dishes should look and taste. Something was seriously off Sunday night. All of the half dozen dishes we had were less good than what we expected. We hope this was a momentary lapse and not a sustained decline in quality.
Excellent food and service for our anniversary! We will be back!
One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Never disappointed!!
Excellent Mediterranean food. Prompt service. Crowded and noisy.
The food was good, but not exceptional. We are very much into Mideastern cuisine, and have very high standard set by Damas in Montreal and Ishbilia in London. Probably will come back to try different items.
Poor service. Things took much longer than expected to come from the kitchen and bar. New plates brought to table without clearing previous dishes. Had to ask multiple times for refills of water and wine. Piece of metal foil found in wine.
Sad bc I had come here a year ago when I was last in DC and my experience then was excellent. Maybe a fluke, but i seems the service has gone downhill.
The food is very good, however.
For the past 4 years whenever we visited our child who attended college in DC, zaytinya was always on our restaurants we wanted to dine in
Now that our child has graduated and is moving away from DC my wife and I are searching for reasons to visit DC so we can dine at Zaytinya
We shared meals there with many friends who are now All about it
The food is delicious
The ambience is appealing
Great attentive service
Zaytinya is a must if in DC
Ps you may want to make a reservation ahead of time as they are always busy even on week days
Food was good was just noisy and some food better than others
Soft shell crab was so good ordered two!
Good food fast service l, the spacing of the meals can be better there were waits between dishes that were a bit delayed.
So noisy we couldnt even talk. Food was good tho.
Always delicious - the spanakopita is as delicious as all other reviews indicate!
It's been years since we last visited Zaytinya. This time it was fine - nothing extraordinary. The front desk folks need some customer service training - they both seemed bored and not at all welcoming. Food was good but seemed pricey. Our waitress was wonderful.
Very nice restaurant with friendly service and quality food.
The food was delicious as always, but our waiter brought us an eggplant Mezze instead of the Brussels sprouts we had ordered. We ordered 5 or 6 Mezze, and the first few came quickly. Then, nothing arrived for 30 or 40 minutes before the last 2 or 3 came. Although we both had plenty of time and enjoyed the long lunch, other diners would have been very unhappy with the long wait. We were charged for the correct number of Mezze. The price was very high, although we drank nothing but tap water. I love the food at Zaytinya but eat there very rarely because the prices are so high.
So delicious! Our out of town guests were absolutely delighted by the meal. I love this restaurant on every level (waitstaff, setting, food, price). Always a treat!!
I always eat here when I come to DC. This is the place that sold me in brussle sprouts.
Coming back again later this week. That says it all!
We arrived at noon when the restaurant was just starting up and noise was minimal. Our food was really good—-hummus, lamb shank/eggplant, chicken, cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts sides...all good. The Turkish and regular coffee were delicious. Service was friendly and efficient and Jose Andres went through to check on the food and agreed to a selfie with my friend...what a generous man! Zaytinya is a fun and excellent scene.
Excellent food! Great service. The Kabobs were delicious
Very good meal
I took my mom here for mother’s day. We ordered the Chef Experience. It was bar non, the best restaurant experience I’ve had.
Zaytinya is my go-to place anytime I have to go for a celebration. The food and service are consistently great and the place is a sure shot recommendation!
We had made a reservation for 5 at 7:15 and were celebrating my birthday and mother's day. We got there early and had a drink. The bar and the service there was great. When it was time for our reservation we were taken to a very long table that we had to share with a dozen very loud people. We were very disappointed and probably won't go back there just because of that. We asked for another private table but would have had to wait 30 minutes.
Food is the best. Go here every time I visit DC at least 2-3 times.
