Excellent selection and outstanding quality. Super fresh, great presentation, and we loved the Tapas approach with amazing Greek cuisine.

I️ think this was probably one of my top five meals of all time. Besides the Bronzino that was way too fishy, everything that we ordered was delicious!! The scallops were amazing and the broccoli dish was just as good. I️ wish we lived in town so I could try more items on the menu. Next time I’m in dc, I️ will definitely be back.

The service was OK at best, but that may have been due to our waitress not being the best, we saw others there that seemed much more attentive to the tables they were covering.
Regardless, the food was very good, and we had a great time, making it more than worth the price of the meal.

It was my anniversary with my boyfriend and even though the place is very crowded with a long wait for a Monday we got seated right away with our reservation. We also got 2 complimentary glasses of champagne which was lovely. The food was excellent Yes and bread always came out hot(that’s why it came out a little later than food), but still lovely. All food was well prepared. The octopus was wonderful and I️ loved he Brussels sprouts.

Restaurant is very loud but that’s just the style and popularity speaking!

Gluten free options are extremely limited and we both have celiac. We chose whatever was in the gluten free section. No gluten free bread or chips either. Just to make things really sad were the overfried,, dried out French fries... overall, not a satisfying meal whether in variety of choices or quality

A fun place featuring Greek/Turkish cuisine. Lots of little interesting and tasty small plates. The Grape LEaves were exceptional but everything was very good.

An enjoyable meal at Zaytinya. Love the creativity of the food, and it is really tasty. The brussels sprouts were not as spectacular as I remembered them from the past, and overall we were a little less dazzled than before - but that is comparing Zaytinya to its own perfection of the past and not to other places. We will eat there again and hopefully find perfection again. Then it will be back to 5 stars. This time was 4 1/2, but I had to pick one, so 4 stars for this time.

The (non-alcoholic) cucumber cooler was the star of the drinks. The Turkish Storm was ok - a little heavy-handed. Not sure what would have balanced it, but we felt it could be improved.

We've been here many times and have usually been quite satisfied with the food. Since we had a guest we thought we'd stick mostly to foods we've had before. My old notes indicated that the "Adana Kabab" was "very good although spicy." This time around, it was NOT good at all! It was on the dry side, not much hint of spiciness, not particularly flavorful -- it was a disappointment. However, we loved everything else -- especially the bronzino, bantijan bil laban, lamb Bahar, the apricot dessert.

Made 7:00 pm reservation a month ago. Called to ask if we could come earlier and was told that they would seat us early if something opened up - fair enough. Arrived at 5:45 pm and was told that we could be seated but we had to vacated table by 7:00 pm for next reservation. I said since we already had a 7:00 pm reservation, they should just give our table to the party who needed a table at 7:00 pm. I was told that the computer system could not handle that request - because if they seated us early, it would delete our 7:00 pm reservation. So my family of 4 ended up eating at the bar! Great food and service at the bar, but they should have figured out how to accommodate us around their IT limitations. I’m all about IT, but IT should facilitate and not limit. It would have been nice to dine at a table.

I had a mixed bag of experiences here. Yes, the place is super-popular so you'll want to make reservations well in advance. I'd also go at an odd time if you can on the weekend. So the good - my server was amazing! He was very friendly and helpful and attentive. In fact, everyone was wonderful. The less-good - the food was hit and miss. The vegetable dishes I got were amazing. I liked the lentil patties and bean soup. The seafood dishes were not great - my scallops were room temperature and my octopus was rubbery. The lentil puree on the octopus dish was chalky and not very good. I really liked that there is an option for a small portion dessert. The few bites of Turkish Delight were a great end to the meal.

The best Spanikopita! And the falafel? Yum! My first shakshuka there and it was wonderful as well. Top notch service. Just a wonderful dining experience. Only down side, i cannot possibly eat everything i want in 1 visit, even with the small plates. Another visit on the books!

Had the Chefs experience, a tasty prix fix option, which was delicious, all 14 courses with plenty to eat. Needed a written explanation of our dinner as wait staff didn't adequately describe the event and noise levels and environment are highly charged. Expect to wait even with reservations for a second evening sitting in the 730 to 830 range. Nice bar and dining atmosphere has this place hopping.

This restaurant has been there for maybe 15 years and is till a favorite. Mezzes plates are outstanding. Large variety of meats, fish, vegetarian. Everything wonderfully prepared. Friendly, excellent service. Wait people understand and explain the menu. Very attractive surroundings. We’re never disappointed.

Zaytinya had a great vibe and excellent variety on its menu. The house cocktails, especially the gin/tonic and elderflower martini, are terrific. The staff is efficient and courteous, and the location is fabulous -- right next to the national portrait gallery, so you can wander through the art before your meal (it closes at 7:30 pm).

Bread was good but we are surprised that they did not give any spreads complimentary.

We didn't know that some of the food is raw we are dissapointed not to order some of meat dishes because of that.

Vegan mushroom entry is bad.

Food is not spicy a bit too. We went there for my wife birthday and she was dissapointed.

Vanilla baclava desert is good.

Kibbeh used to be a favorite of mine until the waiter informed me that it is fried in the same fryer as shellfish - I'm allergic to shellfish. I never had a problem with the kibbeh, but am afraid to take a chance now. Why do you risk cross-contaminaiton?

Overall the restaurant is beautiful, the servers were friendly and the food was tasty. However the quality of service fell short. I had ordered a bottle of wine which was not presented to me. It had arrived opened and our server poured it in our glasses without a taste or to confirm it was the correct bottle. We were never checked on during our dining experience, and our dirty plates were left stacked on the table. The octopus was the only dish we didn’t enjoy. About two bites were taken from it before we deemed it as rubbery. When our server finally made it back to our table he had only asked if we were ready for dessert. He did not notice that every other plate had been stacked on top of each other and an entire octopus dish was left uneaten. He walked away without removing any of our dirty dishware and about 6 min later the support staff had arrived to remove our dirty tableware—-just in time for our dessert.

What a fantastic place...again exceeded our expectations with the tasting menu. They accommodated a vegetarian beautifully. You will not walk away hungry! Everything is delicious. One person didn't love the mussels, but that was the only "so so" of the night. The falafel, hummus and pita, salmon, Brussels sprouts, and an apricot dessert were particular highlights, but really the food is just so good it's hard to call out favorites. Fantastic wines to pair with you meal, too! We also love Jose Andres' work in Puerto Rico and are happy to support him.

I love Zaytinya because it has very interesting food that will appeal to a broad range of tastes. We sampled well over a dozen different dishes and all of them were wonderful. It is also a place where you can take vegetarians and meat-eaters and picky eaters and everyone can find something that will please them.
