What Insiders Are Saying
Another Jose Andres spot with solid tapas. Head to Zaytinya for a power lunch that doesn’t feel like a power lunch.
One of my absolute favorites in DC. It’s become a staple for special nights out.
The food was not nearly as good as I had hoped. I was with other people who had eaten there before who said the food was not nearly as good as it had been when they'd been there previously. Also, the waiter was great except he forgot to bring some items we ordered. We never did get them. Other than that, he was very good.
Had a wonderful waitress. Food was great. Only complaint was our table. It was tucked below the stairs but the wait staff had to squeeze between us and another table to serve everyone. Not so great
We were seated at the time of our reservation although there were crowds waiting for tables, the service was very attentive, the food very tasty. One problem was that all the dishes in tomato sauces tasted the same. The waiters might direct people not to order stuffed eggplant, mushroom rich, and a few more that have the same sauce base because that was boring. We had enough other dishes to make up for this so it is not really a complaint about the food. All in all, a great place to keep returning for a great meal!
Always excellent! Always! Service, food presentation, cocktails, dessert - excellent!
Great selection of Mediterranean food. Excellent service and fun ambiance.
Denzel A was an inattentive waiter. First course at lunch took 20-25 minutes to come out, without him coming to check on us, and then all other courses came out at once. He also messed up one of the orders.
fantastic food，enjoyed our dinner at Zaytinya. The lamb chop and sirloin misir reallyn impressed us. The rest dishes are very delicious as well.
Wonderful food, fantastic, thoughtful flavors. Great for a group, we ordered many dishes, all fantastic.
Simply put Zaytinya is classic, high value, attentive with outstanding tapas.
Great food and good service in a beautiful restaurant
I have dined here often and have never had anything that I didn’t enjoy. On my last visit, brought friends from New York and LA. The restaurant didn’t disappoint. We chose to eat outdoors which was much easier for conversation as the noise level indoors can be a bit to contend with. Recommend highly.
Good food and service. WAY to loud for getting together with people we haven’t seen in a while.
Used to be better. Most Food came cold though we were there early and n evening before dinner rush, lots of fried things that used to be grilled. time has worn down or lost the snappy, edgy flavors.
Food.. Amazing! Service was as good as it could have been with so many tables to service.. Def not the place to have intimate convo. Very noisy due to high ceilings.
We had a great time at Zaytinya. Our party of 9 started with all six spreads and the warm bread. Servers were prompt and friendly. Both the veggies and meats were perfectly done and the portion sizes were generous for “small plates.” It’s a place where we will go back.
We went to Zaytinya two times within 24 hours. We will try for three times when we're back in DC.
Perfect. We loved it.
Enjoyed dinner with friends. We shared the spread pikilla which was delicious. Love..love the shrimp with lemon and dill. The catfish and chicken with orzo were great as well.
A culinary experience! Tasty Gluten free options too. Reasonably priced . Sat in the patio that was quieter than the bustling indoors dining areas.
Excellent!! Outstanding service and exceptional food!! Waiter was excellent!!
Fabulous environment and great food. Wonderful experience which I would recommend to all for date night or a special occasion!
It was for my girlfriend’s birthday. We had great company, wonderful food, and fantastic service.
Thanks for making her night special!
Fantastic lunch menu
A rainy day (most quiet seating ever; refreshing actually 🙂) and perfect meal at Z's. The kitchen staff gave us their best on each dish, much appreciated.
Amazing dinner one of the best I ever had
Excellent meal and great service.
Fun place with good food, small plates with a diverse menu. 4 people will run about $100 without alcohol. Noisy as lots of marble and glass for sound to bounce,. My 3rd visit and I will go back,
Overpriced but tasty
As always great food. It's just quite noisy.
Well, for the third night in a row we came back to try different dishes!!! We were almost done vacation and we didn’t want to leave without having more of their many dishes!! We are really glad we did! I got the Greek Flight of Roses which was fantastic... loved all 3 wines, light, fruit forward and yummy!! We got the flatbread- perfect size and delicious!!! We had a lovely lettuces salad/ light and healthy and so tasty. We also had the cooked kibbee which was excellent.... Almost full, we saved room for dessert!!! We shared the chocolate cake which was tremendous... do get it if you haven’t tried it yet!! This is a fabulous, fun dining experience! Our server, Jessica, was wonderful! Next time we are in DC, we will definitely come here multiple times!!!
family from Omaha in town-they loved it but then, what’s not to like! the NOISE!
This was our second time ever at this restaurant! We loved it so much the night before that we had to come back and try different dishes!!! We ordered babaganush as well as an enhanced hummus this time and both were very good! We also got the Ottoman-style eggplant and the raw kibbee and both were excellent! We got Turkish wines which were very delicious! We were full, so we did not get a chance to try any other dishes tonight! Our server, Juvan, was funny, efficient and attentive! We had a great time!!! Go for great food and fun!!!
Food and service is generally excellent. Small plates usually work well for two people or a small group of 3 or 4. Most of the dishes (we ordered 12 dishes with multiple orders for a few, for a group of six), were very good. The Taramasalata was a little too salty and the Keftedes Kapama was okay, but some of the dishes worth mentioning are - Htipiti, Blue Catfish Skordalia and the Knisa Lamb Chops. Service was excellent.
Service was excellent. Quite noisy and the food overall was unexceptional with a few exceptions such as the babaganoush, Brussels sprouts and chick pea salad.
The small plates were fun to share and surprisingly filling. Interesting combos of lamb and eggplant, grilled octopus and yellow peas. Delicious of course, and fun to sample Greek wines. Topped it off with Turkish coffee and rose ice cream w/ pistachio cream. Lovely meal!
It was our first time here and we loved it!!! We were celebrating our wedding Anniversary ! They gave us complimentary sparkling wine and dessert!!! How gracious and generous of them! We loved all the “little plates” we shared!! The hummus, the tabbouleh, the scallops, the branzino were all wonderful! AND the freshly made pita bread is outstanding as is the olive oil with pomegranate molasses...yummy! The wait staff is great as is the manager! We highly recommend this restaurant!
Your food was very, very good. some of the best I've had in DC. Our waitress actually had recommdations that made sense! Thank you!
Zaytinya was packed when we went there. Even though we obviously had a reservation, we had to wait to be seated. We were eventually seated at a table for four with one chair pulled up: we were a group of five adults and this strategy definitely didn't work. We asked to be moved and we were relocated to a table for six on the other side of the restaurant which was great except that were were maybe out of view of the server, which didn't work the best.
I really, really like the food at Zaytinya and the fun atmosphere, but think they need to step up their game when it comes to managing a busy floor.
