Zaytinya Ratings and Reviews
Jose personally owes my family an apology for not bringing out entrees at around the same Time so We could enjoy the meal as a family. Entrées came out 20 minutes apart. Cold cold cold.Server started to ignore Us when he detected there was a problem. Sad. Expensive. Unattentive.
The food was amazing and healthy, we all ordered the classic experience. Our server was amazing and had a very uplifting energy. My favorite dish was definitely the shrimp, and the cocktail named 3 PM in instanbul. I recommend 100%! Another amazing work of José Andres.
Seriously my favorite restaurant in DC! Love the small plates and that everything is made fresh! From the drinks to desserts... you have a lot of options and will find something new each time! Reservations book up quick so plan ahead at least a week if you truly want prime time 5-8pm. It’s close to the Capitol One Center so if there is a sporting event or show that night you can’t just walk in unless you want to sit at the bar.. which is a craps shoot
Great experience! Can’t wait to go again. We ordered the Chef’s choice and Classic combos along with a family style kebab sampler. It was a taste of the best of the restaurants dishes. The courses were served at a very nice pace. We never were rushed or left waiting long for the next course. Dips and spreads with delicious warm breads, followed by salads and seafood and finally kebabs and deserts. It was more than enough for 5 adults. We even took home a doggie bag!
Seafood with broth and lamb kebab were delicious. Cauliflower and mushroom couscous were bland - not enough seasoning or textural elements; e.g., capers and raisins in the former and mushrooms In the latter....would not order them again.
Service was friendly but somewhat impersonal. I would have preferred slightly better dressed wait staff and candles on the table for ambiance. Waitress misunderstood my order but said it was what I ordered when the check arrived. I ordered the Classic Experience for $55 but was served the Chef's Experience for $65.
Food was delicious and great to look at. Check arrived at table without giving me the opportunity to order coffee or after dinner drink.
Bar was bustling, and, since I was a party of one, it would have been more fun to sit at the bar.
Food was fabulous; everything was very flavorful and artfully presented. Décor is attractive. Fixed-price, four-course lunch menu is attractive; plenty of food; variety of food; very reasonable price.
Service started well, but waned as the lunch hour progressed. Perhaps they were getting busier, but business people on lunch hours can't be left waiting and waiting for final courses with wait staff no where in sight.
The food was bland - it was underwhelming and frankly disappointing, especially given the price of the meal. Things were not well cooked. I think the celebrity chef is resting on his or her laurels, I would strongly encourage prospective diners to find an alternative.
The waitress was friendly and the food was delicious. We were four and each ordered about two of the mezze plates, the sangria, and an appetizer. The order was delivered together, however, two of the dishes came as we finished the meal. No explanation was given as to why the two dishes were so late. They came so late that we asked to return them as we were done eating. Overall, good place for friends to get-together.
Zaytinya never disappoints. It is quite popular, so be sure to reserve a table. Every dish has been very good - tasteful, nice portion, and appetizing. We arrived early for our reservation and grabbed a couple of seats at the bar for a nice glass of wine. Bartender was very friendly and juggled her workload well!
The food and service were exceptional. The only drawback was the ambiance. The restaurant is housed in the first floor of an office building, with a towering ceiling, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and open floor plan. Although the "look" is striking, the openness creates a cacophony of sound, and the louder the sound gets over the course of the evening, only encourages diners to speak louder and louder. I learned more than I cared to about my neighbors life story, while trying to have an intimate holiday dinner with husband.
Zaytinya is a DC staple. Everyone who lives here needs to go at least once. The Brussels sprouts, the shrimp, and the kibbeh were delicious and fan favorites. One of the things Zaytinya is known for is the constant flow of fresh, warm pita. Everything the restaurant serves has delicious sauce that can be lapped up with the warm pita. Everyone should try this restaurant!
My son and I stopped in for a bite and drinks before a Washinton Ballet performance. The place is beautifully designed, the drinks were fun and creative and they happily accommodated our vegan diet with very tasty small plates. Look forward to going again soon.
Zaytinya has amazing food. My colleague ordered the Classic Zaytinya Experience and I had the Chef Experience and we shared all of the plates that came out. I would recommend if this is your first time just sharing one of these (the Chef's Experience was more exotic). It was too much for the two of us, but it was all amazing. I also saw the lamb shanks, and while I did not try them they looked tender and delicious.
