Zaytinya Ratings and Reviews
Zaytinya never disappoints. We ordered the mezze lunch. Each course was impeccably presented with each of the "garnish" items contributing to the flavor experience and each one large enough to share. Perfect food and ambiance for a lunch where sharing and discussing the flavors in each food item helped keep the business aspects moving.
This was our second visit to Zaytinaya and we were not disappointed. The tastes of Greece and the Mediterranean were superior. Every bite was a delight. The only down side is the noise. It is a very energetic place everyone was enjoying the experience so go for the food.
Excellent service, reasonable price and tasty food. Just one thing which disappointed me was Greek fries. Most of fries were soggy and yogurt sauce was too thick for the fries. Maybe less yogurt would be better. I will come back when I have a chance to go to D.C. Thank you very much.
We are out for our anniversary weekend and first time here. To noisy for a quiet dinner but nice atmosphere for the evening.
Service was great from start to finish for our 1645 reservation. The crowd came in after 1730.
We had Htipiti, Falafel, Sea Scallops, Keftedes Kapama and Ottoman Pilaf. Wife had a red wine n I had Blessed Bees. All was very good.
We will return again.
I have been to Zaytina a couple of times and it is always delicious and this time was no exception. Food was amazing! We sat in the small upstairs which was perfect for my company who are a little hard of hearing. Our server was AMAZING, he took such good care of us and even made sure to acknowledge the notes I put in the reservation that we had a birthday at the table. One of my favorite restaurants in the city!
I️ think this was probably one of my top five meals of all time. Besides the Bronzino that was way too fishy, everything that we ordered was delicious!! The scallops were amazing and the broccoli dish was just as good. I️ wish we lived in town so I could try more items on the menu. Next time I’m in dc, I️ will definitely be back.
The service was OK at best, but that may have been due to our waitress not being the best, we saw others there that seemed much more attentive to the tables they were covering.
Regardless, the food was very good, and we had a great time, making it more than worth the price of the meal.
It was my anniversary with my boyfriend and even though the place is very crowded with a long wait for a Monday we got seated right away with our reservation. We also got 2 complimentary glasses of champagne which was lovely. The food was excellent Yes and bread always came out hot(that’s why it came out a little later than food), but still lovely. All food was well prepared. The octopus was wonderful and I️ loved he Brussels sprouts.
Restaurant is very loud but that’s just the style and popularity speaking!
Gluten free options are extremely limited and we both have celiac. We chose whatever was in the gluten free section. No gluten free bread or chips either. Just to make things really sad were the overfried,, dried out French fries... overall, not a satisfying meal whether in variety of choices or quality
An enjoyable meal at Zaytinya. Love the creativity of the food, and it is really tasty. The brussels sprouts were not as spectacular as I remembered them from the past, and overall we were a little less dazzled than before - but that is comparing Zaytinya to its own perfection of the past and not to other places. We will eat there again and hopefully find perfection again. Then it will be back to 5 stars. This time was 4 1/2, but I had to pick one, so 4 stars for this time.
The (non-alcoholic) cucumber cooler was the star of the drinks. The Turkish Storm was ok - a little heavy-handed. Not sure what would have balanced it, but we felt it could be improved.
We've been here many times and have usually been quite satisfied with the food. Since we had a guest we thought we'd stick mostly to foods we've had before. My old notes indicated that the "Adana Kabab" was "very good although spicy." This time around, it was NOT good at all! It was on the dry side, not much hint of spiciness, not particularly flavorful -- it was a disappointment. However, we loved everything else -- especially the bronzino, bantijan bil laban, lamb Bahar, the apricot dessert.
Made 7:00 pm reservation a month ago. Called to ask if we could come earlier and was told that they would seat us early if something opened up - fair enough. Arrived at 5:45 pm and was told that we could be seated but we had to vacated table by 7:00 pm for next reservation. I said since we already had a 7:00 pm reservation, they should just give our table to the party who needed a table at 7:00 pm. I was told that the computer system could not handle that request - because if they seated us early, it would delete our 7:00 pm reservation. So my family of 4 ended up eating at the bar! Great food and service at the bar, but they should have figured out how to accommodate us around their IT limitations. I’m all about IT, but IT should facilitate and not limit. It would have been nice to dine at a table.
I had a mixed bag of experiences here. Yes, the place is super-popular so you'll want to make reservations well in advance. I'd also go at an odd time if you can on the weekend. So the good - my server was amazing! He was very friendly and helpful and attentive. In fact, everyone was wonderful. The less-good - the food was hit and miss. The vegetable dishes I got were amazing. I liked the lentil patties and bean soup. The seafood dishes were not great - my scallops were room temperature and my octopus was rubbery. The lentil puree on the octopus dish was chalky and not very good. I really liked that there is an option for a small portion dessert. The few bites of Turkish Delight were a great end to the meal.
The best Spanikopita! And the falafel? Yum! My first shakshuka there and it was wonderful as well. Top notch service. Just a wonderful dining experience. Only down side, i cannot possibly eat everything i want in 1 visit, even with the small plates. Another visit on the books!
