What Insiders Are Saying
Another Jose Andres spot with solid tapas. Head to Zaytinya for a power lunch that doesn’t feel like a power lunch.
Poor service. Things took much longer than expected to come from the kitchen and bar. New plates brought to table without clearing previous dishes. Had to ask multiple times for refills of water and wine. Piece of metal foil found in wine.
Sad bc I had come here a year ago when I was last in DC and my experience then was excellent. Maybe a fluke, but i seems the service has gone downhill.
The food is very good, however.
Always delicious - the spanakopita is as delicious as all other reviews indicate!
It's been years since we last visited Zaytinya. This time it was fine - nothing extraordinary. The front desk folks need some customer service training - they both seemed bored and not at all welcoming. Food was good but seemed pricey. Our waitress was wonderful.
Very nice restaurant with friendly service and quality food.
The food was delicious as always, but our waiter brought us an eggplant Mezze instead of the Brussels sprouts we had ordered. We ordered 5 or 6 Mezze, and the first few came quickly. Then, nothing arrived for 30 or 40 minutes before the last 2 or 3 came. Although we both had plenty of time and enjoyed the long lunch, other diners would have been very unhappy with the long wait. We were charged for the correct number of Mezze. The price was very high, although we drank nothing but tap water. I love the food at Zaytinya but eat there very rarely because the prices are so high.
So delicious! Our out of town guests were absolutely delighted by the meal. I love this restaurant on every level (waitstaff, setting, food, price). Always a treat!!
I always eat here when I come to DC. This is the place that sold me in brussle sprouts.
Coming back again later this week. That says it all!
We arrived at noon when the restaurant was just starting up and noise was minimal. Our food was really good—-hummus, lamb shank/eggplant, chicken, cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts sides...all good. The Turkish and regular coffee were delicious. Service was friendly and efficient and Jose Andres went through to check on the food and agreed to a selfie with my friend...what a generous man! Zaytinya is a fun and excellent scene.
Very good meal
Excellent food! Great service. The Kabobs were delicious
I took my mom here for mother’s day. We ordered the Chef Experience. It was bar non, the best restaurant experience I’ve had.
Zaytinya is my go-to place anytime I have to go for a celebration. The food and service are consistently great and the place is a sure shot recommendation!
We had made a reservation for 5 at 7:15 and were celebrating my birthday and mother's day. We got there early and had a drink. The bar and the service there was great. When it was time for our reservation we were taken to a very long table that we had to share with a dozen very loud people. We were very disappointed and probably won't go back there just because of that. We asked for another private table but would have had to wait 30 minutes.
Food is the best. Go here every time I visit DC at least 2-3 times.
Wonderful Mother's Day dinner. My mom really enjoyed the food and had a great day. The roses were a nice touch. Our server did a great job.
Amazing as always, but fir Mother’s Day we had 2 reservations and asked for a larger table to for our large party, despite the full restaurant, in 20mins , they arranged for all of us....
Really outstanding service , I’ll be back for sure for more yummy food !!!
I've been going to Zaytinya for years, it never disappoints.
Food was great. We had 1 issue with the lamb chop being so tough we can't even slice with the knife provided. We asked for a steak knife from a busser and went on to grab the manager (or so I thought she was). She said she had to check the 'storage room' if they had any. We tried to eat a piece of it but it was really tough so we informed the server that it wasn't enjoyable but got a disappointing response. No apologies, she just looked at me confused. I said if we can just get something else and that's when she proceeded to ask us what we wanted as a replacement. Service is not up to par as we would've expected a Jose Andres' restaurant would give.
It was wonderful!
The variety and preparation of the food was exceptional. As well as the service. And all 9 of us, celebrating a variety of events, felt we were very well taken care of. The lamb shoulder, which two of us were never able to order, is worth inviting your whole crowd so you can get the chance.
The food and service was excellent. Obviously a popular place, was beautifully open but the downside was noise level made it hard to hear conversation at table. I hope to be back when in DC in the future!
Zaytinya's is consistently delicious, and we love how the mezze-style menu makes it possible to try lots of new dishes!
Great food, service was wonderful. We sat outside and ended up moving tables three times because of the sun, but the waitstaff was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend!
You can’t go wrong with Zaytenia! Endless selection of delicious food and amazing cocktails.
Service was wonderful!
The food was spectacular and delicious. The noise level was almost unbearable. We were a party of 9 on a Friday night and put in an excellent spot but still couldn’t hear each other. The waiter was just not good. Didn’t know the wine. Very inattentive - no water. Go fir the food but expect noise and delay.
I enjoyed my meal. I had difficulty finding parking and attempted to use valet, but they only accepted cash. Possibly offer multiple payment options.
Food is excellent, but waiter was extremely inattentive. This was particularly noticeable since he would come to the table next to us to check in on them, but no matter how much I tried to get his attention, he would just ignore me. I used to come here a lot but the past two times I've been, the service has been terrible, so I will most likely not be coming as often anymore.
Felicia did an outstanding job helping me get a set menu for our large group. Food was delicious and abundant. And everyone had a great time.
Zaytinya definitely has their act together. We went during lunch and there was a good sized crowd of businessmen and women grabbing their lunches by the time we arrived. Despite how busy they were, the Zaytinya staff was always top notch, came to check on us and our infant son and always had our drinks refilled without us asking. For food, I had the lame shoulder roast which was being rotisseried at the time we were there and that lamb shwarma was delicious. The Greek fries were forgettable and the octopus santorini was also excellent.
I love the food at Zaytinya but this time the service was very slow, at least for us.
So ooud u could not hear the waiter. It was a zoo. Never again.
Really delicious food, fantastic service, always consistent
Excellent service and great atmosphere. Food very good, but the meals priced as mains come in size of a starter. The price is ridiculously high for the amount of food you get.
Food was excellent. Their mediterranean menu is nicely designed based on greek, turkish and lebanese cuisines with interesting ingredients. Atmosphere was also great. There were a lot of people although it was Monday. Will definitely go back.
Food was exceptional. Very interesting flavor profile. The fattoush is a must. Their Mezze lunch set is reasonably priced. Would definitely return.
I absolutely love your restaurant and I’ve been there a few times ! But on May 5 we ordered a lot of different dishes and half of the dishes came quickly then we sat for almost an hour and wait for the other half of our dishes. We asked the server several times where her food was and she said the restaurant was very busy. It was very embarrassing for me because I raved about your restaurant and the food arriving so late took away from our experience . The waitress did comp Us with one dessert to share for five people. I was very disappointed in the service that we received .
