What Insiders Are Saying
Another Jose Andres spot with solid tapas. Head to Zaytinya for a power lunch that doesn’t feel like a power lunch.
Better ambiance than food. I understand food used to be amazing, dont get me wrong food is good but now wow. Nice to go and a bite with friends.
The Rose and Olive Oil ice cream were fantastic in the weirdest best way. All the food was a 10.
The food is great but they took forever giving us the table even though I had reserved a month in advance
Stopped in to have a late lunch when visiting DC with my 12 year old and her friend. The girls were pleasantly surprised by the food, much if which was new to them, and the waiter Eric was very helpful with making dairy-free choices.
The service is absolutely perfect. The food is just amazing - such great combinations, fresh, a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
Very good middle eastern style fair.. Everything is very well done, with no flaws, but no stand outs either. There are some very nice touches, for example, the pillowy pitas.
Service is a bit uneven, but that may be due to the fact that the restaurant has many large parties dining at once.
Noise level is high, so have good lungs and no hearing issues if you wish to have dinner conversation.
Incredible dining experience! Food was fresh and delicious
Great ambiance, service and food! Waitress explained menus, gave recommendations and very good customer service. We sat outside and it was gorgeous. Definitely will try it again when we are back in DC.
Zaytinya is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, and I eat here frequently. Interesting and delicious food, excellent service, and great ambiance, especially if sitting outside (inside can be a bit too noisy, depending on where you sit). The menu is great--would recommend choosing tapas that you haven't had, or are not easily found elsewhere, developed in concert with chefs from the countries where the foods are found. The wines are also unique and also very good. As a plus, you get to support Jose Andreas, who is doing wonderful things at his restaurants and around the world!
I love all Jose Andres's restaurants. I've been to Zaytinya a million times. This particular experience was sub-par. None of the food came out hot, the service was very slow -- even getting the bill was difficult, and the restaurant was not as full as I have seen it. I was disappointed.
Always enjoy Zaytinya when in DC and by extension supporting José Andrés and World Central Kitchen
Restaurant was too loud for conversation
Fantastic! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his birthday celebration.
The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. The labneh is the best , and the raw kibbeh also different but refreshing. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning.
The food was excellent - appetizers, main meal and the dessert; all were extremely good! I just wish the environment was a bit quieter, but everything else, including the service, was wonderful.
Excellent meal, I would have liked my lamb a little more tender. However, the Brussels sprouts were superb!!! A very delightful Easter meal.
Birthday brunch, portions wer miniscuded
Great food and wonderful service by all of the staff!
The food was rather bland and soulless. Minimal love and flavor put into the various small plates we had. Disappointing ...
Food was good but not out of this world. I do go out to eat all the time so i have high expectations. I would go back and maybe try something different.
Msireable experience, from The food to the service we received. Definitely not Coming Back. It was one of. The worst b-day celebration we celebrated as a group my friend and I!
Our new favorite spot when visiting DC! This was our 3rd time at Zaytinya and it is consistently delicious.
Sat outside on a glorious afternoon before the Caps game. Enjoyed the spanakopita, lamb behar, and shrimp, along with rose wine. Perfect pre-game dining with excellent, timely service.
Service is spectacular.
I love the food here. Unique combination flavors.
Food is fabulous, staff is amazing and very helpful!
We went for brunch and the food was delicious as always. Because we were among the first waves of customers, we didn't have to wait too long to until bread and water got delivered to our table.
Best meal I had in DC after a week of trying yelp it’s it being in travel guides, this was recommended by a friend who is local and it’s amazing food. Only issue is that it is a noisy place and it’s nonstop busy.
Zaytina’s is our favorite restaurant. The food is great! The service is impeccable! The decor and ambiance is excellent!
I booked a table for 8 with the special request that it was a birthday celebration. 1 person had to cancel last minute so we were only 7. The party was 5 men, 2 women and they crammed us at a round table near the front. We could barely reach for our drinks or cut our food. The servers were very lax at keeping used plates and wine glasses cleared off the table so we had to ask several times for someone to clear dishes to make more room. We finally started to take them off ourselves and put them on a ledge behind our table.
Overall the food was very good but several dishes arrived barely warm.
Delicious food! Great place to try authentic Mediterranean. You can try a few different dishes since it is mezze (tapas) style. I definitely recommend the dolmades, Peynirli Pide, Lamb Kleftico, and Yogurt and Apricots for dessert. Margarita was also phenomenal.
It was wonderful. Lingered after meal with a cup of coffee. Would have stayed longer just because I was enjoying everything after a particularly busy work week. Though others were waiting. Never felt pushed out, but ..... others should have time to enjoy their night as we did!
This was our second time at Zaytinya. Once again it was an excellent meal and pleased all four of us. For me, the dolmas were outstanding as were the brussels sprouts. From the bread to the juices to the apple sorbet--excellent. We definitely recommend it.
Fantastic food, with good vegetarian options. Service was fantastic-best I’ve seen in a long time.
Went for lunch on a Friday and ordered a la carte, though the lunch prix fixe was available. The service was outstanding, the decor was modern, and diners ranged from very casually dressed to power business suited guests. Everything ordered was fantastic. We had: the baba ghannoush, hummus with spiced lamb spread, grilled halloumi, piyaz (giant white beans), lamb and beef meatballs, and scallops with dill and yogurt. That was way too much for a party of two, and fit for a party of three or four. Would go back again!
They better be faster and better. If you end up going there after 9:30 pm. You can’t expect great service.
Tasty as always.
The staff was friendly and took the time to explain the menu and answer questions. The food was AMAZING!! Even my cousin who is an extremely picky eater enjoyed the food.
If I lived in DC I would eat there frequently.
The felafel were excellent, and just as I remembered from my last visit 7 years ago.
Octopus was over cooked, as was most of the meat. Lamb tongue, taramosalata, bidinjan eggplant fritters, and Turkish pastrami were the stars—so delicious. The most unpleasant part was the pace of the meal. Service was very rushed, our waiter was rough. She slammed and squished plates on the table, there was not enough room on our table for the amount of dishes she was bringing at once. She should’ve spaced out the dishes more thoughtfully. Overall, not a “wow” experience.
