Another Jose Andres spot with solid tapas. Head to Zaytinya for a power lunch that doesn’t feel like a power lunch.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

Came for restaurant week so expectations weren't high. Food was very good, but I wish the server would have mentioned the size of the portions even for the restaurant week menu. We ordered quite a few extras to supplement the RW menu and then realized the mistake we had made. Way too much food. Server was nice - she seemed new, but pleasant. Overall good experience just would have appreciated a little guidance with the menu.

This is my go to spot in DC. I am here for a conference and have scheduled lunch for next 3 days. The food is just amazing. Among other things we had a slow cooked lamb shoulder. That meat was so tender it melted in our mouth. Mac the Manager was extraordinary.

Zaytinya is a fun, friendly, and comforting place to grab a nice but not-too-expensive lunch in DC. The menu offers some decent selections. My friend and I, though, both simply had chicken schwarma sandwiches -- which were quite tasty (though could have used more garlic sauce). Ths fries were excellent, too. Unfortunately, I cannot report on anything else bceause that's all we had. But previous meals there have been consistently good.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in DC. I try to go whenever I am in town.

This time, my visit was a little disappointing. Both entrees came out luke warm. We had a late reservation and I suspect the kitchen was not very busy so the spacing between our dishes was probably off.

This is the first time I have ever been let down here so I will give them a bit of a pass this time

It had been a few years since I'd been to Zaytinya, but this was my second visit (different dining partner) in two weeks. I loved each visit. The first thing to note about Zaytinya is that it is definitely a "fun" restaurant, and that, no doubt, derives from its renowned master, Jose Andres. He was in the restaurant during this visit and he worked the tables in his typically jolly fashion. The atmosphere is electric and this is especially the case before events at nearby Capital One Arena. Service is great. The primary server and his/her accomplices are attentive, knowledgeable and personable. The menu has a lot of "healthy" options--after all, this is Mediterranean cuisine. The kitchen is creative. The warm pita bread just keeps coming and it's unusual in that it's very light rather than the more typically dense version. During the recent visits we've enjoyed the traditional humus (or "hommus" as they spell it), a humus with ground lamb (this is great!), babaganoush, htipiti (roasted red bell peppers with feta), dolmades (grape leaves) and Kibbeh Nayeh (ground veal tartare, interesting). All very good. I look forward to my next visit.

I visited Zaytinya with my business partner this past Sunday for brunch. It had been years since we had both gone to this restaurant. So glad we did! The food was excellent: fresh, timely, high quality, simply delicious. Great value and a wonderful experience. Adding to this unique experience was Manager Vale who went above and beyond to take care of every single detail of our brunch to make sure we had a great experience. Thank you again, Vale---we will be back (with a bigger group next time!).

Thanks Vale and Thanks Zaytinya!

Everything was good except it was obvious that myself and anyone else who had high chair bound children were seated in the back of the restaurant. I just think it’s rude to put us all back there like we’re being hidden from other patrons. Oh and our waitress was difficult to track down. Love the food though.

Excellent food and service. We enjoyed our visit on a busy Saturday evening. Food is authentic Mediterranean with plenty of choices for vegetarians. We were surprised by the large portions of our choices. I would like to see a larger wine list with more choices for reds. The mixed drinks choices were excellent and made up for the limited wine list. Service was cordial and professional and Katerina did a great job describing the essence of the dishes we asked for. You can't leave this place without trying the lamb. Deserts did not disappoint either: original and a perfect ending to a great meal.

The service was impeccable. Our waiter made several suggestions and was very attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This is my favorite restaurant in DC so it is painful that I have to write this review. Based on this experience solely I cannot recommend this restaurant. This restaurant received a Michelin star a few years ago (if Michelin experienced what we experienced they would have regretted ever ranking this place) and I have seen it packed with excellent service. It was quiet two days ago but the service was very poor and the waiter knew it but nothing was done to rectify the situation besides blaming the kitchen. I was even more disappointed because I was taking out my friends from Seattle who just got off a plane from Europe where the got engaged and even went to London where they ate at one of Ottolenghi 's restaurant. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu recommending all my favorites but after he took drink order and brought the drinks to the table there was no service after. He did not even give us his name to ask for him. A lot of time went by before he came back to order from us. We were just sitting there with our drinks and pita bread. When he did take our order we ordered four things because one of my friends was not feeling well. They brought out the main entree tapas first within five minutes. There was a 3 cm string in my lamb kleftico. We then waited 30 -40 minutes for our appetizers hummus/lamb and red pepper spread. In between our waiter even approached us and said the rest of your food will be coming out. Then our waiter us approached with the check saying there is no more food. We politely told him we never received our appetizers. He ran to the kitchen to get them and blamed it on the kitchen saying the printer was broken. Around this time he also served us our second drinks again taking way too long to get us our drinks and food. I did not even get a second drink because i knew I would need to drive home soon. When it came time for dessert we did not even bother ordering with our waiter. Our waiter never apologized for
