Excellent service from all of the staff. Food was delicious. Loved the entire experience.
Two days later, and we’re still talking about that meal. The entire experience was a delight. The watermelon salad was unexpected - sweet and savory- perfection. I’m not normally a desert person but we tried three. Not a bite left. The Granita was my favorite. I will visit again!
Zaytinya always delivers the goods. A little pricey, but hey, it is DC, and you get what you pay for. Service and food was excellent. Never knew I liked octopus until I visited this place. You can expect high quality if Jose Andres' name is on it. One of my favorite DC restaurants, if not my favorite.
Great food and always a nice place. but noise level is really, really, really high!
The spanakopita at Zaytinya is seriously the best thing on the menu, but you can't go wrong with most items. We did a tasting menu (which I didn't realize they had), and they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions really well! Everything was delicious, and the staff really knew how to read the table (we were really slow, and wanted to talk and enjoy the dinner at our own pace). Highly recommend!
Worst restaurant experience we ever had. 2 hours no main or drink refills. We got up and left even after a manager promised our drinks 20 minutes before. We have never done this before. After having only one date night away from our baby very very disappointed.
My only complaint about Zaytinya is noise level! It is a beautiful, cavernous space and the acoustics are difficult.
We made a reservation for our first wedding anniversary. We went to Greece on our honeymoon and wanted the same level of food quality and flavor. Our experience did not disappoint. Get the chef’s experience and make sure to not eat all day!! Best meal we’ve had!
Never ever disappoints! We’ve been dining at Zaytinya consistently for 10 years... it’s one of our favorites in the city for good reason! Looking forward to returning again this coming weekend with family from out of the country :)
Great service from our waitress outside. Menu recommendations were excellent and the food was delicious.
The food was great. Very interesting Mediterranean fusion. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Brilliant meal. Great to have so much choice of different dishes.
First time there and the food and experience were amazing. Service top notch. An excellent choice for celebrating my wife's 60th birthday.
Lively place to get together and have a mezzo! Lots of choices to choose from and you will find yourself pleasantly surprised by the offerings.. Nice wine list too...
Love the hummus and pita. Best anywhere.
Octopus amazing. Incredibly friendly, helpful staff.
Overall, I was very pleased with my lunch at Zaytinya. With so many José Andrés locations in DC, I wanted to ensure I got to at least one of them and was able to fit in a visit here before heading to the airport. It's in a very central location and the room is spacious and nice. They have a great $25 individual mezze lunch special which I think is a very good value. You choose one selection from four mezze courses. Unfortunately, I found they did pair up many that I'd want under the same course, but I was still able to get a variety I was happy with. Hummus, followed by falafel, then keftedes kapama (meatballs), and rounded off with Turkish Delight for dessert. While I wouldn't classify any of the dishes as particularly revolutionary, they were reliably well cooked, flavorful, and well presented. I enjoyed each dish, they were a respectable portion, and I was satisfied by the end of my lunch. Looking over the full menu, they seem to have a great selection of hot and cold mezzes and it all seems to be quite reasonably priced. To round things off, I gave their Turkish Storm cocktail a try and it was light and refreshing.
I sat at the bar and had attentive service even while they were training someone else and, although the restaurant was quite busy for lunch around 1PM on a weekday, they were still very quick with service and bringing my courses and I was able to get on to the airport on time without any troubles.
Overall, definitely a satisfying and reliable choice.
Overpriced. Mediocre. Meh. The only thing I ate that was really good was the brussel sprouts. Even my drink, ginger beer, was one of the weakest and nonsweet versions I’ve ever had. Big bill and for what exactly? Never mind that they seated me and my wife at the NASCAR table - the table between the kitchen and the door - that was “fun.” I kept waiting for a server to hit me in the back or in my arm while I was eating.
Next time I’m in DC I’ll skip this joint.
Very disappointing. Food at Zaytinya has been one of our favorites for years .... we chose it to celebrate an important birthday and it was not good at all.
Food was amazing as always. Area where we were seated was incredibly hot. Service was super slow and not paced well. Some plates came very late. Waiter seemed overwhelmed. Noise level was very loud. We couldn’t hear each other speak.
This was our first time at Zaytinya and we would definitely return on another trip to Washington. Our server was very helpful in describing menu items. All the food was excellent and plated well. We enjoyed trying new foods and foods we knew with a different twist. We especially enjoyed the Baba Ghannouge and the Persian Yogurt soup. The Rose ice cream is not to be missed. I look forward to another visit!
The food was fair. The service was decent. Noise was terrible. I would not recommend for this reason. It was awful. My ears hurt when I left. Made the price point not worth it.
We sat outside - to avoid the noise inside. Everything was good - the food, the service, the noise level.
I'm just sorry that the inside of your restaurant requires even those with normal hearing to shout in order to have a conversation. You ought to have more consideration for your employees who have to work in that atmosphere....
But, as long as we can sit outside, we will be back....
Poor service and worst hosts ever. But the food more than makes up for it! Please bring the seasonal mushrooms with dates back!!
Loved it, amazing food, amazing service. Highly recommend.
wonderful food, ate outside on a lovely day
Great food and service. This restaurant never disappoints.
The food was wonderful and well priced. Just understand that they serve small plates for everyone at the table to share, you are not ordering a full meal of your own per se. The drinks are pricey, so be prepared for that as well. I would definitely recommend and go back myself. It’s excellent, just research so you know what’s in store.
Amazing evening to celebrate our engagement. Thanks!
Food was great. We had a nice table by the window. The waiter suggested five plates and that was perfect. The only issue was the slow service. This is relative in that we just expected faster service since we were eating at 5:00pm. We were still served and out in a little over an hour, so obviously the service wasn't terrible. This is our second visit and we'll be back sometime.
Denzel was a great waiter. And the food was amazing!
All dishes were delicious and had many levels of flavor. Server was very attentive. Plus, Jose Andres is my hero.
Always a good time here. 1st time having brunch and it was great. Thank you Zaytinya! Will be back soon.
Very poor quality of food. Expected much more from Jose Andres. Seems the restaurant mass produces everything and their is no attention to detail. Food comes out quick. Kotopoulo youvetsi had no chicken in It. Greek fries were soggy. Media and octopus were so small you needed a microscope to find them. My glass broke on table and sat there for few minutes. No apology from team or manager when they broke my glass. Out of first two wines I selected. Staff running around inexperienced. Just doesn’t have its touch anymore and feels more like an Olive Garden with unlimited bread.
We sat outside. It was great. The noise level inside was high.
Excelent food and service. Nice place to be with friends, family and romance. Love the inside and outside seatings.
Zaytinya is one of the best restaurants in DC and our favorite Jose Andres restaurant. The food and service is consistently excellent. In particular, we love the kale salad, roasted cauliflower, crispy brussels sprouts, and spanakopita.
Very ordinary food at high prices. Nothing special and fell way short of what I would have expected from one of my favorite chef’s restaurants. Nice wait staff and surroundings but no plans to return.
My favorite restaurant in DC
Food was ok - not great
This was our second time. I remeber the previous time being very impressed by the subtle spices of the mediterranean food. Maybe we didn't choose the right dishes this time . The ottoman pilaw was amazing, but the meatballs and sea food pasta dishes were covered in tomato like sauce and tasted more like spaghetti bolognese/ ravioli. I suppose I was expecting something more exotic.
A warm, welcoming place to celebrate a special occasion and explore a variety of interesting dishes.
