Outstanding restaurant in Society Hill section of Philadelphia with Chef Michael Solomonov preparing Israeli and Lebanese inspired dishes. We would recommend the tasting menu for best value. For the main course portion of the tasting menu, you cannot go wrong with the Branzino, outstanding. The hanger steak was also highly recommended. Save room for dessert! The most difficult part of this experience is getting a reservation. Must go on line exactly sixty days in advance, to the minute, especially for weekends. Somewhat less difficult for mid week reservations. Well worth the time and effort. A dining experience that you will talk about for a long time.
Great food and service!
Truly a wonderful experience. The only thing better than the food was the amazing service. They were clearly very crowded and yet they took care of you like you were sitting in your Grandma’s living room. Each dish was delicious with interesting unexpected flavors. We will definitely be back...and that is saying something since we are in Chicago.
Family gathering. Loved the food and service. Table was by front door and large crowd waiting for a table. Otherwise a wonderful evening.
Best hummus I ever tasted. Authentic dishes. Small plates but filling and incredible flavor. Service OK
Was worth the two month wait for a reservation. Food and service were phenomenal. I recommend doing the tayim option and sharing with your party. So many different flavors to limit yourself to a few items.
Food was fabulous, but you get what you pay for.
Noise level was outrageous. I asked to be reseated (and was) after we were seated directly
beneath music speaker which was so loud it gave me a headache.
Service was exceptional. We could not hear each detailed description of each dish, due
to the noise level.
Very talented and creative chefs create food which loses some of its quality when presented
in such a loud environment. We ate at 5:15, being the only reservation available even 2 months
in advance. As the restaurant became totally full, the noise level only increased.
A novel dining experience, for sure.
Great service, great food! Decent portions, was so stuffed! From hummus to dessert was overall amazing.
Everything was absolutely amazing. The food, service, and ambiance was everything I expected. I was, however, extremely disappointed with the condition of the restroom. I walked in and it smelled similar to a poorly kept gas station restroom, the floor around the toilet was wet, the soap dispenser was broken, and there were no paper towels. Not what I would expect from such a fantastic restaurant.
It is always a phenomenal experience here. On this most recent occasion, Zahav delivered the usual superb food and service.
One of the best restaurants in Philly hands down
Meal of the year, meal of a lifetime, worth checking open table 5 times a day for a resi, the staff was amazing.
This is one of the best restaurants in America, and they prove it every time we come here. Not only is the food outstanding, but the service and ambiance are of the highest level.
Birthday. They made me a menu with my name on it.
Wait staff pressure you to order all food at once. Since they are small bites, it is hard to tell how much food to order. They brought everything out within minutes of each other (really discusting to have food served in that manner).
In order to make a reservation for 4 people we had to wait until 60 days before our date. They really make a production out of dining with them. To tell you the truth, very overrated and the staff are not so nice!
Much better restaurants in Phila. Sorry Zahav.
Really good food, but we should have gone with the tasting menu. Literally trying to find a excuse to go back as soon as possible.
one of, if not the, best dining experience I've had in Philadelphia! the staff was amazing, attentive, and they really went the next step.
I had to get up at midnight to get a decent time reservation on a weekend but it was worth it! Do the tasting menu - it is the best way to experience the menu. The bronzino is life changing.
the food was spectacular and the service was amazing, all the waiters were extremely nice and attentive. the custard dessert was 100% the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. very worth it!!
Best food in Philly!
Lived up to the hype and justified the reservation made way in advance. This place is amazing! A creative take on vegetables and flavors, plus ample portions. The servers were also kind and helpful. Can't wait to return!
By far THE BEST food that I’ve had in a while now! It was well worth the 3 month wait that it took us to get a table there. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the server we had was knowledgeable and made great recommendations to fit our Vegetarian menu restrictions. We did the 4 course tasting menu, but were thinking it might be too much food.... but that wasn’t the case... everything was so fresh and well made and minimal carbohydrates, so we had it all! LOL
I would certainly recommend this place and would totally go back!
Food and service wonderful
So delicious, can't wait to go again. Speedy, friendly service.
Second time at Zahav. Food and service excellent but second visit not as spectacular as first. My main objection is that the only way you can get their signature dish - the roasted lamb - the whole table has to have the $60 per person dinner. One person of four of us really wanted the lamb so we went with it. What would have been enough food for us and cost less than $140 would up costing $240. $100 was alot to pay for the lamb dish. Probably will not return.
The best hummus of my life.. Incredible experience
Zahav was worth waiting for! We are thankful we chose Zahav for our “foodie” and opinionated son’s birthday dinner. The menu was unique, the presentation upbeat and artistic, the food delicious and memorable, and the service truly outstanding. The vibe is energetic and invites you to return. We certainly will!
Fantastic dinner at Zahav! The tasting menu is a lovely way to try a variety of dishes, but it is SO filling!
The service and hospitality is superb. Everyone from servers to food runners to server assistants were knowledgeable and friendly.
If you’re a tequila fan, try The Great Eagle. There’s also an expansive list of wines, MANY from Israel.
I’ll definitely be back, and would LOVE to sit at the bar height seats looking into the kitchen.
Thank you for another fantastic experience at Zahav! This was the second time we were able to spend my wife's birthday at Zahav. Extraordinary food and service that we're accustomed to at Zahav. Thank you so much! Can't wait to be back!
Worth the 60 day advance (if you get in exactly 1 minute after midnight) wait.
Again and again. Zahav delivers on service and food. Amazing start to finish. We brought family from NYC and they were so impressed with the flavors and just the entire experience.
Our meal and service were excellent
The wine superb
The food unique and delicious
I always plan to come here on my birthday which this was and hope to do it again next year
From the confirmation phone call (the Zahav host could not have been more hospitable) to the reputation that precedes the restaurant (all of our Philly friends were impressed we had a ressie!) to the thoughtful service and incredible cuisine, Zahav wildly exceeded our expectations. We will be back!
The best. Superb service. Waiter gave knowledgeable, excellent advice on wine selection after gauging my taste in wine. Very helpful in choosing between food items and the tasting menu. The food was also superb! Great, special, creative vegetable "salads", the best hummus and pita (called "laffa") I have ever tasted. Every small plate was also a creative and tasty masterpiece- the brussel sprouts, haloumi, grilled cauliflower. The grilled plates were also great- chicken shishlick and hanger steak, though the veal kebabs were only OK. Dessert- chocolate cake with sweet potato ice cream and small sweet potato cubes- top-notch. The dishes are not only so very tasty, but they are very creatively conceived, with out-of-the ordinary combinations of ingreietns that go together so well. All serving staff were terrific, courteously keeping our table clean and our cutlery refreshed. Overall, staff is very deferential!
May be the best restaurant you ever eat in. Ever.
Can’t remember when our whole group had a better dinner experience, probably the best.
I’ve never had a restaurant go so out of their way to make my birthday so special. A meal I’ll never forget.
They ran out of the lamb on the tasting menu by 6:15pm which is really a bit too early to be out of a dish. Otherwise perfect.
Delish. People often say not enough food. Not true. We left full. Needs to add a cappuccino machine
