Welcome back to Zags Restaurant & Patio — Portland’s new favorite gathering place. Our newly-renovated dine and drink spot will emphasize simple, satisfying, and scrumptious dishes, all made to order from locally sourced ingredients.     They were having a tough night. The servers and bartenders couldn’t be nicer, but when we got there, there was no one to check us in. We finally went over to the bar where we waited for five minutes as people that work there kept coming by. I finally asked, “is this a good place to stand and check in or is there somewhere else we should go?” We eventually got to order drinks and put in our food order. Since we got wine, that was easy, but our food never made it to us. After about an hour of waiting, we had to get to our show. They were great and gave us a refund. However, I wish they had a better assessment from the beginning and could have just told us that it was an hour wait for food.

    Even tho there weren't that many customers, it was way too much for this short staffed restaurant. We waited over an hour for our pizzas. They came just as we were getting up to leave. We wolfed down what we could (we were late for an event). Too bad b/c the food was actually very good but we couldn't enjoy it. The waiters were literally running thru the restaurant trying to keep up. I will not be going back and will not recommend until they are able to staff the place, or at the very least, close off part of the patio and restaurant so they can serve what few customers they have. Really sad. Bad experience for customers and for the poor overworked staff. A no-win situation.

    Poor service. Went to Zags before a show. We had an hour and 15 minutes before we had to leave. The restaurant was empty and a few tables were occupied outside. There appeared to be 2 servers (1 being the bartender). I told the bartender we had reservations, he said sit anywhere. We chose a table outside. After about 10 minutes, another couple came and sat down at the next table, the bartender immediately followed and brought them menus. We had not yet been approached. I went back in and found the other server and said we had a show to get to and could we get some menus and drinks. The menu was pretty limited and one item was not available. We ordered, the food was ok, but one item ordered never showed up.
