Booked 3 WEEKS AGO for our anniversary. Received a confirmation text to confirm 48 hours prior. We paid to park and arrived to find IT HAD BEEN CLOSED FOR A MONTH. We were beyond disappointed. Unacceptable.
I was excited about eating at this establishment but alas, after making a reservation, which OpenTable confirmed, we didn't get that chance. When we arrived for my wife's 30th birthday dinner, the restaurant was closed and there was a sign on the door. It would have been nice to get notified of this. Now I see that they've been closed for close to a month now and others have run into the same issue. Totally unacceptable. I took time off from work, hired a babysitter, drove all the way downtown from outer SE, paid for parking...not to mention the embarrassment of looking like a fool to my wife and the inconvenience of having to come up with something last minute. Totally unacceptable.
Excellent food and service. Everything was cooked perfectly, and their desserts are to die for.
The food and service was excellent. Nice people. Will definitely go back.
We always enjoy ourselves here. The food is great, the staff are wonderful, and the ambience is enjoyable.
Very friendly staff, authentic and light-humored. Food wasn't large portions like some places, but definitely an appropriate size for a meal. We used a groupon, so our value was very worth it. Falafel is different in a good way, crispy on the outside, almost creamy on the inside, as opposed to grainy. Meat was all seasoned incredibly well. Desserts were fun and just one would have been more than enough for both of us. We had a couple of mixed drinks, done well. It was a solid date night.
Eating at Zaatar is always a great experience. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is always fun.
The food was delicious, very flavorful. The service was efficient and friendly.
Best kept secret in NW Portland! You really need to try this one out. It will become your favorite restaurant!
Great food & great service
Quite and pleasent with great food. Nice service and great desserts.
Amazing authentic food! Loved everything we got
Friendly owner makes all feel welcome! And food good w lots of sharing plates.
Superb food and service. The best falafel I have tasted in Portland.
This restaurant is closed for maintenance. Made a reservation only to show up to it closed. Second time time this has happened. Won’t be a third. Can the ownership of this restaurant not respect its guests enough to turn off open table availability. Completely unacceptable especially for people who come from a distance. Many other better Lebanese choices in Portland anyway.
Food was delicious. The falafel was incredible and I will definitely go back for that alone. The deserts were next level though and tasted as good as they looked. Glad we tried this place!
There was nothing wrong with this restaurant. Service was good. I just didn’t feel that it was authentic Lebanese cuisine. We came here based on the reviews and it was a little disappointing.
We enjoyed a lovely evening having dinner at Zaatar. We were happy to discover that there was music that night which was just the right amount of sound level so we could still talk and hear each other.
The staff is extremely helpful and kind and the food was delicious. We will enjoy returning in the near future.
A little spendy, but great food, gluten free pita options, live music, and good drinks.
Food was good and reasonably priced. The ambiance could be better, feels more like a simple diner than a Mediterranean restaurant.
The service was excellent at Zaatar's. I had the lamb kabob's and they were good but not great. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and may return.
First time going to Zaatar. The food was delicious with hearty portions and a reasonable price. The service was excellent. I was with three others on this Saturday night and we hadn't seen each other for years - so catching up was a little difficult over the loud music. But I am going back in less than two weeks on a weeknight so we'll see!! It was a great experience otherwise!!!
As out of towners we went on the recommendation of our Middle Eastern bar tender and he didn't steer us wrong! We had delicious Mediterranean food! Next time we're in town we'll definitely go back!
Fresh pita hot off the oven with olive oil and Zaatar to start sets the appetite for well prepared foods to follow.
Very friendly service.
The food was delicious and the servier was courteous.
We had great food and the staff was very attentive!
Very good traditional Lebanese/Mediterranean food on a quiet New Year's Eve. The pita bread was outstanding.
Food was very, very bland. Nothing had flavor. The only thing we liked was the free pita bread. The server was nice though.
We enjoyed the comfortable seating at Zaata. Not squeezed in like many restaurants do their seating. Easy to find, right on the corner. The food was delicious. I know these particular dishes well, so the bar was high. Omigosh...that falafel was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Same with the lamb. Every detail. My friends recommended both desserts but I was full...so will go back to "inspect." The live music was terrific, but not too loud to have a conversation. Servers were attentive but not annoying as in many restaurants. The cost of dinner was quite reasonable. What a find!
We always have a good time at Zaatar. We're welcomes like old friends, seated quickly, and attended to carefully. I love their food -- it's Middle Eastern but the spice vary in intensity and balance, so not like anything you've had elsewhere. I'm a fan of the schwarma and grape leaves; my brother liked the lamb kabob, and my husband raved about the kafta kabob. We're excited to try the Dinner For Two, as it looks like an excellent value.
We really enjoy Zataar. Friendly family service and food is consistently excellent and authentic. Great for gluten free--even have gluten free pita options and menu is full of gluten free choices.
If I could rate more stars, I would. We loved everything about Zaatar: the decor and atmosphere: nicely appointed, yet family friendly and warm. Ghada and the rest of the staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The food was outstanding. I am Lebanese and cook many of these foods, and also have been to many Lebanese restaurants and I can say without hesitation, that Zaatar is the best I have experienced. We ordered the hummus, baba, tabooli, lebneh, pumpkin kibbee (an incredible surprise! We loved it), falafel, grape leaves (tender and lemony!), chicken kebabs (my husband is still talking about how delicious they were); lamb shwarma and lamb kebabs. And the freshly baked bread that kept appearing at our table with the zaatar/oil mix; to die for! Our family really loved the Zaatar experience and cannot wait to return. Thank you for a great evening.
Great food and wonderful service!!!
What a Wonderfull little friendly -family run restaurant. Wish we could have eaten all day long to try everything. They took such great pride in making your dining experience enjoyable. Don’t find that that often these days. A little gem we will go back to again
Really terrific food. Slow but congenial service.
Great food, tasty dessert, nice people. A bit pricy.
Not quite what I expected but quite nice. Excellent pita bread, served warm. TVs projected images of Lebanon. Only one other table occupied. Had a glass of Lebanese wine. My granddaughter had a cocktail she liked very much. All in all a good experience. I was suffering from a bad cold so wasn’t feeling all that well. Would like to try again under different circumstances.
The food, was good, but bland, the flavors were muted and subtle, not what I expected from a Lebanese restaurant
Amazing great food
This place was amazing! It's officially my new favorite Lebanese place in Portland. I love the pita, hummus, kibbeh, and kafta kebabs. The portions are great and the quality of the food is exquisite. I highly recommend this place! The drinks are great as well!
