Yxta Cocina Mexicana Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent and the menu offers lots of choice. We shared tacos, appetizers, guacamole (really delicious) and salads. Everything tasted great. The chef will adjust the heat level for those who want the food more or less spicy. There is both patio and indoor dining with plenty of room for large groups. The service was great. I will definitely go back.
I have been here plenty of times for lunch, but it was the first time I got to enjoy a signature craft drink for dinner. Although, there are only a handful of choices--they did not disappoint. The salmon IS hands down, the best I have had anywhere. The guacamole is delicious and we topped it off with some delicious dessert. The capirotada (sp?) is a bread pudding with sweet pecans and churro flavored ice cream.
Real Mexican cuisine; and being a Mexican, let me tell you, that is rare for a restaurant to achieve in Los Angeles. I was there for a quick business meal and it happened to be Happy Hour. The Huarache de Tinga was good but the Chile Verde was outstanding. The fresh made tortillas also very good. Pleasantly surprised that the hype surrounding this place is not a Gringo take on Messycan food but for some true Mexican food flavors.
Yxta has been one of my favorite restaurants ever since it opened several years ago. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, the beautiful presentation, the professional yet friendly and engaging servers, the uniqueness of the décor, and best of all, the wonderful creative, absolutely delicious creations that delight me and all of my friends. Today (October 4) was National Tacos Day, so that was my excuse for trekking down to Yxta for lunch. And it did not disappoint. The tacos were outstanding, and the dessert (the best flan on the planet, in my opinion) was the perfect way to end a wonderful meal. But, then, that's the way it always is at Yxta.
The food is always good here. We shared the 2-person branzino fish as we hadn't tried fish at Yxta previously, and it was excellent. The day's special watermelon margarita was so well received they ran out by 7:30. Only place we know to get Mexican chocolate ice cream, yum!
We had a really nice time. We were 30 minutes late for our reservation because of traffic, but they still sat us right away. Everything was good, except my carnitas tacos tasted quite salty. Other than that, the food was great. All the other people in my group liked their food.
The food was great but it seemed very pricy for what we had. (Two people. Guacamole, two simple tequila drinks, two entrees came to $90 with tip.) It feels like Yxta is becoming too expensive for a meal that is not a special occasion, which is disappointing as I've always loved going there. While it is very delicious, paying $11 for guacamole seems a bit much to me…
Their food is always great. Service was great too for a group of 6. They were very accommodating that everyone came in at different times and quickly attended to each person as came in. We went real early at 4:30 and bugged that the strip mall was empty, so we parked and immediately the valet guy was charging us even though we parked on the other side. He said the entire lot is for them to charge😳. The other only problem was that there were flies buzzing around, and we were INSIDE. Other than that it was GREAT. I will still come back!!
The parking was valet and easy in/out, restaurant easily accessible for handicapped/wheelchair patrons, ambiance was cool, building was old brick/wood beams, food was delish and drinks very good but the best part was the total package which includes the service from valet staff, to host to wait staff; overall outstanding experience. We were on a rare date night, dressed business casual, some were dressed very nicely, others chilling in shorts and tshirts; very cool spot to hang anyway you show up!
Excellent food and traditionally great service. The service was not great today, however, you can always count on the excellent food choices. Authentic, delicious food at a reasonable price. I haven't been to happy hour here yet, but I plan to in the near future. The restaurant is not too far from my downtown office location.
