Yxta Cocina Mexicana Ratings and Reviews
Took a long time to get drink refills.
Unwilling to veer from the menu on two different requests. One was just to make chicken tacos and the other a virgin mojito. Charged $1 for sour cream that took so long to get we didn’t even need it because we were done eating.
YTXA is probably one of the best and authentic Mexican restaurants in LA. The service is always excellent, the staff friendly and accommodating and the food absolutely delicious -plus great value.
Highly recommend and great for big groups and family get togethers!
The food and service is always consistent and great! The waiters and servers are down to earth and not snobby like some other DTLA restaurants. There's no attitude here. It's all about the food and the flan is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! If you can, request Juana's section if she's working that evening. She's super attentive and awesome! You won't regret dining at Yxta. I never do. If I had the chance, money, lived closer, etc. I'd eat there more often!
Servicer was very nice and patient with helping us to choose our food. Individual care was taken and servicer was knowledgeable about the food. The only negative was that I felt there was a lot of ice in my margarita, so much so that there was less of a drink (the glasses are on the smaller size).
Work colleagues and I have gone to YXTA to celebrate Christmas since it opened. The food and service are consistently good. We each have our favorite dish though one of us will generally try something new. I visit more than just around Christmas and have introduced several friends to this delightful restaurant and dining experience. Their carnitas are the best and their potato tacos are a favorite for all of us.
I came here to celebrate my brother's life ( he had passed on a few years ago) with a few of my friends and my mom. The inside of the restaurant is so nice and everyone kept commenting on the ambiance. I really liked the inside. Everything was great although the service was a little wonky. Our drink orders were taken but we sat for probably close to 45 min before anyone came and took our food orders. My mom went and got someone and the manager came over and spoke primarily to my mom and he had told us they didn't take our orders because it looked like we were having a good time. While I completely understand this concept, we were left sitting wondering why no one had come over and as a result, entertained ourselves. He had offered a round of drinks on the house and that he would take care of us. The rest of the night was wonderful however at the end they still charged us for one of the drinks they said they would cover and my mom had to speak to them again. Despite the service ( our server was still a real sweetheart), the food and ambiance would bring me back. Food was delicious, the drinks were great. :) I would still recommend and as a former server myself, I understand that things happen and I would not let this experience keep me from coming back.
Very accommodating location, considering we had a couple people join our group late, total of 11 people. The food was exceptional, cocktails and recommendations by the server were delicious. They have a good happy hour before 6. Best Chips and Guacamole in this part of LA and it’s all Fresh. The atmosphere can be romantic even with their TVs located in suttle areas for the sports fan in your group. We loved this place so much, we didn’t want to leave.
The food was excellent and the menu offers lots of choice. We shared tacos, appetizers, guacamole (really delicious) and salads. Everything tasted great. The chef will adjust the heat level for those who want the food more or less spicy. There is both patio and indoor dining with plenty of room for large groups. The service was great. I will definitely go back.
I have been here plenty of times for lunch, but it was the first time I got to enjoy a signature craft drink for dinner. Although, there are only a handful of choices--they did not disappoint. The salmon IS hands down, the best I have had anywhere. The guacamole is delicious and we topped it off with some delicious dessert. The capirotada (sp?) is a bread pudding with sweet pecans and churro flavored ice cream.
Real Mexican cuisine; and being a Mexican, let me tell you, that is rare for a restaurant to achieve in Los Angeles. I was there for a quick business meal and it happened to be Happy Hour. The Huarache de Tinga was good but the Chile Verde was outstanding. The fresh made tortillas also very good. Pleasantly surprised that the hype surrounding this place is not a Gringo take on Messycan food but for some true Mexican food flavors.
Yxta has been one of my favorite restaurants ever since it opened several years ago. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, the beautiful presentation, the professional yet friendly and engaging servers, the uniqueness of the décor, and best of all, the wonderful creative, absolutely delicious creations that delight me and all of my friends. Today (October 4) was National Tacos Day, so that was my excuse for trekking down to Yxta for lunch. And it did not disappoint. The tacos were outstanding, and the dessert (the best flan on the planet, in my opinion) was the perfect way to end a wonderful meal. But, then, that's the way it always is at Yxta.
The food is always good here. We shared the 2-person branzino fish as we hadn't tried fish at Yxta previously, and it was excellent. The day's special watermelon margarita was so well received they ran out by 7:30. Only place we know to get Mexican chocolate ice cream, yum!
We had a really nice time. We were 30 minutes late for our reservation because of traffic, but they still sat us right away. Everything was good, except my carnitas tacos tasted quite salty. Other than that, the food was great. All the other people in my group liked their food.
The food was great but it seemed very pricy for what we had. (Two people. Guacamole, two simple tequila drinks, two entrees came to $90 with tip.) It feels like Yxta is becoming too expensive for a meal that is not a special occasion, which is disappointing as I've always loved going there. While it is very delicious, paying $11 for guacamole seems a bit much to me…
