Friendly. Food served quickly.
We went for New Years and were highly impressed with the food we ordered. We got brazino and it was excellent and there take on carnitas was not typical but very, very good.
I've been plenty to Yxta, however I chose to bring all my friends to this resturarnt for New Years (Dec 31). it wasn't at all what I had said the restaurant would and has been. They had aset menu, there was no heads up given about this set menu, the options were limited and overall the restaurant made it complex to change the reservation times eventhough when we were seated the place was 40% empty.
The service was a bit slow but it could have been that they were understaffed.
Over all I promised friends that we'd come back for the tacos which are to die for.
Food was super good and the service was on point. We will be coming back. It was a homerun....
The zarandeada (whole grilled fish-boneless) was amazingly good. One person in our party is a professional chef and she raved about this dish. The carnitas are always a hit; very tender and authentic flavor.
Excellent food and service but they can improve on cocktails... I ordered three different versions of Margaritas and they were all mediocre... Disappointing for a Mexican restaurant.
We were going to Fa La Land and did a map search for nearby restaurants, which is how we found Yxta. What a great find! The ambiance, food, and service were all amazing. I accidentally knocked over my pomegranate margarita and our server immediately replaced it. We were all extremely happy with our experience.
They were not busy, would not seat us until we were all there, wouldn't let us sit in an area that was "reserved" of which was never used. Will not return.
My team and I attended (group size of 7) for our holiday luncheon. We were seated outside and were left unattended for about 10 minutes when our server, a young woman, greeted us. She noticeably under stress and busy. She was short and a bit rude. She did not answer questions, share specials, or acknowledge members of the group. The food and overall restaurant is so good and nice that it was unfortunate we had such poor service at such a lovely location. I have had her as a server before and she was better then but not worthy of a tip.
Great food, terrific service. The room is loud and a bit cold, but always a great vibe. Too bad that the parking is awful. . .
service was great. food was delicious and the place is very nice.
Excellent food and drinks ! But very noise it’s hard to have a conversation !
Excellent service and good food. Easy parking. We will be going back!
My husband and I try to have a date night every Friday we LOVE everything about Yxta.
Excellent food, excellent service, great ambiance. We ate here after a tour of the Lost Distillary (walking distance away). Drinks were great as well.
Great food! The carnitas plate is quite salty but I was warned so it wasn’t a surprise. Their tacos rock! Def my fave dish there. Love the location, atmosphere and it’s a fave among locals in the area. I’ve been going here for about two years and def feel it’s one of my top mexi restaurants to dine at.
We went to Yxta to celebrate two birthdays and noted that on the reservations, but they neglected to sing happy birthday. I am totally okay with that which is why I still gave them great ratings. I can count on delicious food every single time I eat at Yxta! Their aguas frescas are always refreshing. The guacamole just perfectly seasoned. Homemade blue corn tortillas. Carnitas with the right amount of crunch to them. Yummmm! I love coming here.
Food was good, service was prompt and flexible. Ambiance was cute a little on the louder side.
Some dishes better than others. But would go back.
great food, great for pre-theatre meals. We've been going there for years and always were happy with the food and service.
Really nice environment. Great food.
Our fourth time at this delicious place. The margaritas are sublime and the fresh, chunky guacamole will rock your world. Our waitperson was really pleasant and the ambience is friendly, with a downtown/industrial vibe. Always a pleasure to introduce friends to this gem.
The restaurant and service were great. If you are familiar with the area, it may seem unusual but they do a great job with the valet parking at the corner to provide secure parking and a good experience. Recommended.
Everything was great here, the drinks, the people, dancing , I went for dia de Los muertos, got my face painted by an amazing local artist, kimberlysugar, the only downside about this great experience was that I reserved a table and it was not available when I got there, aside from that ,this place rocks!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in LOS ANGELES always a recommendation for visitors
Staff accommodated guest in wheelchair and were responsive to questions. All dishes, including desserts were delicious.
I love Yxta; it never disappoints. The food is fresh and delicious (their guacamole is heavenly), and the service was great. The only downside to lunch outside was the number of flies that surrounded our food when it was served (at least they have good taste!). For that reason, I would recommend dining inside although it is noisier. Avoid using 6th and 4th streets to get to Central if you are coming from downtown (2nd St. was great). The restaurant has easy $2 valet parking on-site.
Great place with awesome drinks. Guacamole is a must!
One of the best Mexican food venues in LA! Their guacamole is AMAZING! Every entree is unique and tasty. Worth the drive past homeless camps and it is safe.
Our server has given us an excellent customer service and great food recommendations, the overall service is impeccable. Sorry I forgot our waiters name but thank you sir for the experience, a must try for an authentic mexican cuisine!!!
Great food. The guacamole is excellent.
It was a beautiful afternoon so our group ate on the patio. I understand insects when you dine outdoors however we spent the next 1 1/2 hrs shooing flies. It distracted from the great food
Loved that the chef stopped by and customized the dinner enchiladas to a Suisa Sauce since normally just lunch. Of all the many choices in downtown LA it was tough but we were not disappointed. Fabulous Margs too.
The location of this restaurant is something that the restaurant can't help with. It's located in an area full of homeless population, so use your imagination about the surroundings. NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR A FIRST DATE, or to impress someone, in my opinion. Unless Skid Row was one of your visiting locations. The inside of the restaurant is immaculate and the ambience is great! They do have valet parking, which is something you should do, even though there's plenty of street parking. For safety reasons.
The food is made of quality ingredients and you can taste the difference. We ordered the carnitas (very flavorful, a bit too salty), mole and one more dish that I can't remember the name. They were all very good and everything was finished. We had a separate order of the guacamole, which was very pricey, but very tasty. I'd order it again. For dessert we ordered the tres leches cake. It was divine!
In summary, if this restaurant was located in a safer area, I might visit again, but not frequently. After all, a 3 entree dinner with 1 side, one desert and 1 drink, ended up over $100. Kind of a bit too much over of what one would usually pay for some delicious Mexican food.
Great food and atmosphere and attentive service. Only flaw was rough neighborhood at night
We’ve been several times now and it just keeps getting better! We sat at the bar with Sam before our friends arrived and had a great conversation about their very large selection of tequilas and mescal and random chit chat. You must get the guacamole, kale salad, shrimp dish and also a big fan of their carnitas! Can’t wait until we go back again!
The dining experience here was wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Have never had a bad or even compromised meal here. The food is delicious and fresh. The bar is extensive with many varieties of tequila and mezcal. The ambiance comfortable. Generally quiet unless big groups are there.
Great happy hour! Excellent margaritas and ceviche at half price.
For dinner we shared the grilled fresh branzino and a kale salad. Service was very sincere and friendly — bartender happily carried out drinks and appetizer to the table when we were ready to be seated. I was tempted to give the overall experience 5 stars, except there were no serving utensils for the shared fish, and the salad was swimming in too much dressing.
A friend who often travels to Mexico City says that Yxta Cocina feels like an authentic duplicate of any of the finer restaurants in that city.
