What Insiders Are Saying
Yuzuki is one of the best restaurants in SF, operating somewhat under-the-radar. Get a reservation while you can.
Went to Yuzuki for a birthday dinner and, like the other reviews, I thought all-and-all, the whole experience was good but not exceptional. The atmosphere is comfortable and clean but nothing special. The portions were on the small side but on par with most traditional Japanese restaurants. The miso black cod, ikura shoyu, and oysters were quite good. On a very positive note, Yuzuki *only* features organic, seasonal produce and we need more all organic restaurants in San Francisco (not just restaurants that serve conventional produce atop a bed of organic greens, for example). A pretty good meal but not necessarily a great value. (The total was $160 for two people, not including drinks)
Terrific Food, Excellent Service. We give it a high rating. Some Japanese foods we had never experienced. Not your "usual" Japanese. All of it was delicious!
Great food, quality and service. Love sake selection too.
I think the price is a bit high.
Food is overpriced. Serving is sooooooo slow! There are 13 tables right now and 12 groups are playing cellphones with empty plates. We have been sitting here for 70min and only have had 3 small dishes which you can finish in 1 minuet. We come to a restaurant to have food instead of wasting our time. You'd better had a meal before coming to this place because they will keep you starving no matter what. So terrible!! Would never come again!!! The experience was extremely bad!!!!!
Amazing food, sake, and beer selection.
Thoughtful and beautiful, exquisitely prepared dishes. A meal that satisfies body, soul, and spirit.
Order off the banner featuring daily special dishes and supplement from the regular menu. Trust your server for sake recommendations.
Food was good, high quality ingredients. One dish (cod) was amazing. However, the restaurant is pricey and we ended up paying $90/pp and were not really full.
Amazingly well executed izakaya cuisine — every dish is stellar! The service is casual but attentive and extremely knowledgeable and helpful, particularly with sake pairings. It is on the pricey side but worth it for food this well done. One of my all time favorites in San Francisco!
Service was a bit off compared to when I was there before a couple years ago... not as attentive throughout meal and we never ended up getting mushroom rice dish, as apparently server forgot to place order with kitchen, and it takes at least 30 minutes. Luckily we were already fairly full, so we decided to just skip it. Also, the restaurant was much louder than from what I recall before... not sure if it was because there were a couple of other large parties also seated in restaurant or we were just in a spot with bad acoustics.
Incredible. Hands down my favourite Japanese restaurant in SF (maybe in all of California). There isn’t a single dish that is anything less than absolutely amazing. And the service is so incredibly on point - the waitresses can build an entire meal around just what Sake you’re in the mood for. Best birthday dinner ever!
Tasty food in most part but extremely overpriced. Over $120 per person seems too expensive when you can have a decent dinner for that price with better service and food.
Very elegant and thoughtful dishes, authentic and refined. It’s not inexpensive but worth every penny.
We have dined a Yuzuki Japanese Eatery for the past three years and they never fail to impress.
The plates are small and individually prepared by the chef. The staff and service is impeccable.
The is not your typical Japanese restaurant, so expect the unexpected and you will be absolutely surprised that you dined here.
Its a bit pricey, but will worth the dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Food is good, but on the expensive side so though we may come back it certainly won't be often. Also a bit loud for our taste, but we do prefer quiet places.
The food was great in terms of quality, presentation, and tastes! It’s too bad the portions were exceptionally tiny, making it a very expensive experience. Our bill before tips came to $75 per person. To top it off, one of us came out still hungry!
We ordered the rice pot with mushrooms which came highly recommended. It was supposed to take 30 minuets, but it actually took over an hour before it was on our table. The food came in strange order. Our crab salad and appetizers came towards the end of the meal rather than at the beginning! We would have liked the pork belly to accompany our rice, but it came to the table at the very beginning.
The noise level was unbearable!! We were looking forward to coming, but, sadly, we certainly will not be coming back.
The food was good but the prices were way out of proportion. I regularly dine at some of the top spots in the Bay Area and the quality of this decent izakaya can’t compete when it’s costs SIGNIFICANTLY more that when I eat my heart out at a place like State Bird Provisions or Nopa. And Ippuku is far superior and a much better value.
Fresh oysters, delicious salmon belly, and lovely mushroom rice bowl. Never disappointed with this place.
The food portion is really small, comparing to the price they charge. Even girls felt hungry after the dinner.
Yuzuki is an interesting and creative japanese restaurant; it is not a sushi joint, though some raw or seared fish is available. All of the food is very delicately flavored and nicely prepared. The dishes are all a bit small, so things can get a bit pricey. Service is casual and friendly and the atmosphere is pleasantly casual.
The food was tasty but wayyyy overpriced and incredibly small portions. It felt a bit like tea time for 7 year olds. I understand that this may be an upscale restaurant, but even the staff indicated the portions were large enough for multiple people. We ended up ordering multiple times because it was never enough food. Good news is there was a burrito place down the street so we took the opportunity to eat a second dinner.
Food was underwhelming, poorly executed with lower end, cheaper ingredient (eg: Fried chicken and vegetable tempura were more soggy than crispy, tempura was tiny little bits of undetermined vegetables. Neither service nor space live up to price point. Wouldn't return, wouldn't recommend.
We made a reservation a day before, but we were put in a small table that trapped by 2 surrounded tables . .. food server forget our drink order, Crispy chicken was grease instead, $11 Zaru Tofu only have about 4 tablespoon . . . $5 for half Teba chicken wing, This restaurant is VERY expensive.
Awsome meal, wonderful ambiance. I will eat here again in the near future.
Great food, great service, and overall awesome experience.
One of my favorite San Francisco restaurants.... Unique and outstanding small Japanese plates, updated frequently, with incredibly attentive service focused on maximizing your experience. Always an intimate and enjoyable dinner
The food here is really good. The portions are on the small size, so to really fill up you will be ordering a lot and it won't be cheap, but it's worth it. Everything is really good. You can't go wrong with anything. I have been here twice now and both times have been very enjoyable. I will definitely be back many times to come.
Fantastic! The Tofu and the Koshihikari rice were awesome! We had a ton of yakitori and sashimi which were really good too!
We were seated right away after coming in and the service was fast, friendly and nice. Everytime they see my tea cup half empty they were so quick in refilling it. Servers are knowledgeable. Nice presentation of food - really Japanese style and made me feel at home. This place is good for casual dining and dates too. Yummy deserts and the taste is really authentic. Would definitely come back again and recommend this restaurant to everyone!
The food was more delicious than I remembered. Ingredients were seasonal and fresh. Preparation was precise and shoes respect to authentic Japanese cuisine.
I hope it was just an “off night” where performance didn’t meet expectation. My friend was excited about trying out this place and we took her husband there for his early birthday dinner. The food was not good, from taste to presentation, to pricing, just plain unthoughtful. It’s possibly the worst and the saddest restaurant I’d ever been to. Everyone was disappointed.
Great food and personable service. We had a mix of various dishes - the grilled fish stood out as amazing.
Really disappointed. Food was insipid, prices were high...what’s to like??
Wonderful as always. Cooking is delicious. Service superb. Very welcoming.
This restaurant is fantastic. I have never had Japanese cuisine like this before and I doubt I will again unless I travel to Japan. Done using traditional methods, it was all prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. Plus, the saké menu was a great total # of options and very well represented saké styles. Service and ambiance were lovely.
Great service, authentic unique and creative food, but a little overpriced. Sashimi was $24 and not the best compared to other places in the city. Mushroom rice was outstanding, but everything else was just ok.
The food Was good, I was disappointed with he spacial rice with special mushrooms dish, every mouth was filled with grit / sand and it was very, very unpleasant, perhaps not even healthy. I am sure the mushrooms were not washed to save the flavour, but it was like eating sand, took away all the qualities of the dish!
This is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco, which is saying a lot. SO GOOD.
