Pretty much the perfect Japanese restaurant
Thank you for a lovely evening. Highly recommended.
We had a course meal selected by the chef. Other than the steak which had too strong and sweat source over it the seafood were excellent, well-prepared. Really enjoyed our meal. The price was reasonable for the quality and the amount provided.
Satisfied... never disappointed
It is not just a dinner . Every dish is like a piece of art and you can feel the heart from the chef
A must-try for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine; I truly enjoyed their sakura features, especially the Baby Sakura Shrimp and Spring Cabbage Croquette - I shall be dreaming of this constantly.
Foods not as good as last time, and service so far so good if they can pour wine for us that would be better
food was not up to expectations, service was not good
Fabulous five star Japanese fine dining. Second only to a special omakase meal I had when last in Tokyo.
Very noisy for a quiet restaurant
We asked for a separate area but that wasnt available
A surprise from what was normally a great restaurant
What a gem! The food is exquisite without being pretentious, the menu is large, the ambience good, the staff friendly. What more could one ask?
very fresh & flavourful
unique culinary methods
Hands down the best Japanese Restaurant in Vancouver. I flight to Vancouver often from LA and I always need to go to Yuwa. Thank you
Freshest sushi ever! Not inexpensive but worth it for a special occasion. (For us, it was our annual trip to Vancouver from the East Coast.) Ice cream next door (placed called Glace) tops off a great meal.
I made a reservation to celebrate my wife's birthday. And we very satisfied with the whole experience. Everything almost perfect.
We ordered the omakase kaiseki, which will change every month for most fresh seasoning fish. Very gorgeous, fresh and variety decorations of food, outstanding service, rare and delicious Japanese sake (jikon), special drink of peach sake as a surprise, all of these for $120 per person without alcohol, and definitely the experience worth the price.
The sashimi concurred us, it almost melt in your mouse, your tongue can feel the tenderness and sweetness, each chew is a new experience. With the sake Jikon, it*s not a so sweet sake, a little bit karakuchi, but perfect for the dishes. It won't cover the sweetness in the food and keep your taste fresh. Compare with the other dishes, the fish in nimono was a little bit over cooked, taste is good, but the texture felt like chewing a well-done steak.
We are already planning the next visit and cannot wait for its chief's recommend sashimi and other sake.
Very well done Japanese cuisine. Expensive but well worth it. Quiet location, small ish restaurant. Fantastic service with lots of great menu choices, too quality ingredients and an excellent wine and sake menu.
Food was amazing! Sashimi and Sushi were made just perfectly. Service from beginning till end was also just as amazing. I would definitely recommend to a friend!
Absolutely spotless and fabulous service and food - be far the best Japanese food/restaurant I know and easily one of the top restaurants in Vancouver with a wine list not nearly as ostentatious as that of some of the usual spots highly praised in the city!
Plain old wonderful experience all around!
Great hidden gem in quiet neighbourhood. Fresh seafood and attentive service. Quality is worth the higher price. Good for special occasion.
We went for my husband’s birthday with our kids and in-laws. Everyone loved the food and had a wonderful time.
Authentic Japanese cuisine served in an elegant room. Yuwa's menu is anything but ordinary and the dishes are flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. Overall a wonderful experience.
Really fresh fish. Seating is limited and restaurant is small.
Think the cooking technique/execution, portion size, presentation did not support the pricing. Prices high for what one gets. Tendon simmered dish didn't have much tendon..2 pc smaller than a tiny pinky. Lots of brisket. Sablefish ultra small suitable for a small child as if it was leftover odds and ends. Chawamushi was flavorful. Sushi fresh. Nice decor. Good service. I do not mind paying $$$$ for quality but i did not see it here; the dishes were totally one hit and many misses.
Fabulously fresh fish and seafood presented in innovative way.
This place is very romantic with very few restaurants in the area. Great to walk to if you live in Kits. Service and quality of food is top notch! Fresh Japanese food is worth the price at this friendly hideaway. Parking is Free and plentiful in the area. Our guests from out of town loved it!
Consistently one of the best dining experiences in Vancouver! The freshest highest quality ingredients prepared in a Imaginative and traditional Japanese style! I dream of the flavors until I return to do it all again! Very special Service staff highest quality Sake make this my go to for a special night in Vancouver!
Delicious food. Great service. Lovely ambiance. Will definitely return.
Pre-ordered the kaiseki at the sushi bar months in advance and they even took my credits card information for confirmation a few weeks in advance. Arrived and they didn't even make notes about seating us at the sushi bar and didn't prepare our kaiseki so we didn't get to do it. Offered nothing as an apology just sorry. Food took almost 1.5hrs to come for the two of us and didn't come until we chased them.
Food was good but not worth the price point either.
Slowest food service — whole staff unapologetic about it.
Any sashimi there is over priced and lacking... just go Octopus Garden
For people that have never been to Japan and don’t know too much about Japanese food, maybe they’ll find the food above average or unique. However, for us, it was quite not worth the value, especially the Canadian lobster roll ($24) and grilled sable fish roll ($30), these two rolls fare really not unique in taste and presentation. We found these two rolls completely over-priced and bland. The Hokkaido Hotate the hotate was over-cooked. Service was above average and could definitely feel the Omotenashi the restaurant tries to bring to its customers. Thank you.
Everything we have tried at Yuwa is delicious! The service is excellent.
Have been many times and love it always excellent
A bit disappointed with the sushi. My hamachi sushi was stacked by 2 pieces of small hamachi instead of one whole piece. I never seen this before neither in Vancouver nor in japan. Also the sushi rice was not sticky enough. Once I picked it up, the rice fell apart.
Good if u looking for another kind of Japanese fusion taste Service was outstanding. Clean and comfy.
The food was good, especially the Chef Sushini which came on a bowel of rice with various shusini displayed all around. We were there prior theatre at the Federic Wood Theatre and our stay was just over 1hr.
Excellent food and friendly service. However wait times between dishes were too long.
This was our first visit to Yuwa. From the first moment that we stepped in until the last, the service was top-notch. We were dining with a baby so they were very accommodating and prepared a high chair for our use ahead of time. The food was amazing. All the fish that we tried were super fresh. Our favourites were the Chutoro, Kanpachi and Kani Special nigiri. Overall, an excellent dining experience. We would recommend this to our friends and family.
While we thought the food was very good, we were very displeased with the timeliness of service. Our first 2 courses were perfectly timed while the last 2 took well over 30 mins between them to serve and kept us in the restaurant for over 2 hours.
My friend & I enjoyed our meal immensely! The food was fantastic & the service was excellent! We would recommend Yuwa as the spot to dine!
