I can’t comment on the quality of the food as we were never served. We had reservations that we were on time for. We were seated and given menus and water. No contact from anyone at all for over 25 minutes. We decided to leave for fear of how terrible the service would be and I spoke with the manager on the way out who was rude and seemed to care less. We’re we’re seated next to the front door and there was a very high number of take out orders going on. From our experience their concern for people’s dining experience is low and they seem to be focused on take out.
OpenTable askes the question: "How was Yume Sushi?" The answer is: I don't know because no one ever took our food order.
We had a very pleasant start to our reservation being seated and someone taking our drink order. After 20+ minutes no one came and checked on us despite taking orders at the table around us. I quietly and respectfully asked the hostess to send a waiter/waitress but still no one took our order. They did take the food order of the table next to us. Still no one came to our table. So after a while once people who came after us already had food we left cash for our drinks plus a tip and left. It was a major disappointment since we've heard great things and Yume is in the neighborhood.
Loud, slow and expensive. Food quality is decent. Lots of menu items were sold out. Will not return.
Food was amazing!! Definitely coming back again!!!
Excellent sushi! It’s always fresh. The drinks are strong & delicious. The service is quick.
Hands down the best sushi I think I have ever had. Had a few drinks, apps, nigiri, specialty rolls, and specials from the iPad. Everything was fantastic, with my favorite being the monster trio. Another big plus that we were not expecting was the clear labeling and lots of options for Gluten free. Most places we go can't tell us if most sauces are gluten free or not, which limits what we can order to next to nothing. Here most sauces are made in house and clearly labeled. Will definitely be back!
Yume Sushi is by far the best sushi I’ve ever had in the DMV area. The fish is fresh, flavorful and doesn’t disappoint.
Chef Peter has continued to advance in his craft and the food quality is consistently superior! Staff are friendly and accommodating, and the extra efforts to show their love for the experience are definitely noticeable.
The food here is really good! My party ordered seven different items (1 app and 6 rolls) and liked all but one. We sat inside and the music combined with the chatter of other patrons made it pretty noisy. The primary reason my rating is not 5 stars though, is the waiting time between each item we ordered. We thought that we would be able to order as we go and receive a steady stream of rolls. Instead, it took at least 20 minutes between each roll. I would consider going back again, but maybe at a time where I knew it'd be less busy or for takeout.
In the neighborhood, we sat outside which feels like a large sidewalk in front of the street parking and people walking by, though it has a nice vibe.
Authentic Japanese menu and some innovative dishes. We had Baby Octopus Salad which was recommended by the server and it was delicious. The rolls are rather small but this allows for a variety to try. The Yuzu Cheesecake with Honey Ginger Ice Cream was outstanding. I would go back just for that.
Excellent! I think this is the best sushi I have had in this area.
Everything was fine apart from the music, too loud and more appropriate for a discotheque.
Food was really good but the service was slow and sporadic. It was really loud We’d go back but probably ask to sit outside
The food here is outstanding And the service compliments the food you receive!!! I can’t say enough about it if I go a rant page, so to simplify it I would just say. Best money I spent on sushi
Wow, what an experience. The servers knew what they were talking about so you needn't rely on the chef, who's an actual sushi chef. It was great from start to finish.
Amazing sushi!! We sat outside, service was excellent, I happened across this location and was happy I choose to eat here.
Whenever I come to Yume, I leave completely satisfied. I love the food, drinks, and ambiance. They have rotating specials (food and drink) and they are always delicious.
Overpriced, too noisy
Sushi at Yume is phenomenal probably the best sushi in the DC metro area. Love the place and the ambiance. Sushi portions are small so it gets expensive. This time service was not good. Waitress was very distracted, it took her over 25 min just to take our orders. The wine selection is mediocre. I had a Cava and was the worst I had tried. On a previous ocassion tried other withes and are terrible.
This was one of the most sophisticated and welcoming sushi dining experiences. The specials menu is truly remarkable. The service team and chef are highly thoughtful.
Great food!! Nice service. Everything very good. Highly recommend. The only thing was we didn’t know why we got the iPad with our menu - the host and waitress didn’t really explain and we just ordered off the menu. I’m sure the iPad had extra choices we didn’t know about. But overall our orders were great. Fish was very fresh and good size.
Three key areas they need improvement on:
1. Service - it took FOREVER to get our sodas and my pint. Then it took three requests for get refills. As well, they only filled the water glasses once and never again even after asking.
2. Location - there is almost NO PARKING, which means unless I move close by I will most likely never return.
3. Price to Product - they are expensive for what you get and the service it comes with. The portions are small and unrealistically priced for the area.
What got them two stars - the food was tasty but not worth the bill.
Best Sushi in the dmv outside of DC.
The specials menu is fabulous. We eat at Yume once a week and it’s perfect every time.
Amazing all around great service, great food, great ambiance
The food was above average and the restaurant is lovely. The service was really slow. There were not many people that evening. (It was a Monday night.) I would definitely try it again to see if it was just an outlier.
We have been to Yume numerous times. It is our absolute favorite sushi spot, in the DMV. Everything from the ambiance, to the service, to the food always exceptional. I suggest trying the butter scallops, best item on the menu!!
Yume is my go to neighborhood sushi spot. It’s priced well and the service is always on point. The ambiance is great and the sushi is different and very fresh. Highly recommend!
This place is a Must Try! I will def be a regular here.
Some of the best sushi I have ever had!!
We really enjoyed all our food and drinks at Yume. The staff was attentive and overall it was a great meal. The only reason for the 4 star review on ambience was because the music was a bit too loud - felt like a club, making it hard to talk. But not the end of the world!
We had an amazing time at Yume. All the dishes were great! Fish was so fresh and the Wagyu sushi with foie gras was sooo good. Scallops with truffle was also amazing. It literally melts in your mouth.. I would definitely come back for sure. It’s probably one of the best sushi place we’ve tried.
Great food and great service. Very creative menu. Highly recommend
This was my second time visiting Yuma Sushi. My first visit was on a Friday and my waitress was outstanding and the food was magnificent. Now, my second visit was on a Monday and it took over 40 minutes for the food to come to my table and my waitress was horrible. Once our food was finally brought to our table, the quality was as good as our first visit but the time it took to receive our dish stole it's thunder. I'll probably keep this as a weekend only spot.
The fish (toro, uni, salmon, etc.) all melt in your mouth. The 50 year old soy sauce, salts and glazes compliment the fish. Chef Peter and his crew are artist. My niece who's traveled to Japan, says Yume is better than places she at there.
It's a monthly treat for me and my wife.
Everything was great! The best sushi I’ve ever had and it was at a reasonable price.
Great sushi options, unique and classic rolls that are all very good
Food and ambiance are perfect! The servers are nice, but they aren't attentive.
The sushi was so good! The service was impeccable. I would eat here again. I tried the volcano and tiger roll. Very good and the miso soup with scallops. Sooo good!!! The scallops are in raw form not the ones you see in the grocery store.
