To expensive for what you get. We paid $98 for a 3 corse menu and the food was not that good. Overrated restaurant!
We ate at YUCO last night to celebrate my husband’s birthday. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome and gave us fantastic service. I selected this restaurant as it had oxtail on the menu (one of my husband’s fav dishes), and it did not disappoint! Our waiter, Joseph, was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for the table. We decided to do the option where we selected a first plate, a taco dish, a main dish, and dessert. Every plate was better than the next! I had the pork belly app, octopus tacos, and the prime rib, while my husband had the elote soup, the steak taco, and the oxtail. For dessert we got both the chocolate and corn dishes. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or date night. Great ambiance and great food!
Great dinner with amazing service! Went with the $95 pre fixe menu and not a single course was a miss
Fantastic. Attentive service, great wine pairings, and unique flavors.
Quite disappointed. Server did not want to sit us as the chef’s table, and those chairs stayed empty all night. There was mix ups in the order and in the check. Food was ok, but nothing more especially considering the price point of their prix fixe.
We reserved online and there were a number of choices between two types of tasting menus or allá cart. since some of the things we wanted to taste were not on tasting menu and we like to share our food we went with allá cart.what they did not say on the reservation was that there are two rooms, one really a bar area much more casual, no table clothes kind of setting, tight close sitting ,and the back room much more upscale. You can only sit in back room if you have reserved a tasting menu. I was very disappointed and asked to be moved but they said no,and the back room was never full the whole time we were there, from 6:45-9pm.
We spent about $700 for 4 people. It is ridiculous that for those prices you are shunned to the bar area. I would not come back. The food was interesting and some things quite good others just ok. But the atmosphere should match the price tag and the style of service, and it does not.
We're very sorry you didn't enjoy the decor of our Agave room! On the Saturday you visited every seat was filled in the back room after 8pm. We would have loved to have accommodated you in the main dining. We do mention on our OpenTable description that we prioritize long form tasting menus and prix fixe menus for the back room. This is because with so many dishes we try to minimize the distance our staff have to travel, in order to minimize the physical toll for our staff. Best, YUCO
This is a ridiculous "experience." They want to be a top restaurant but fail on every part of it except price. Avoid this place entirely. The service was awful until I requested that they "step it up," and even then they struggled to pace the courses and wines appropriately.
Dear Dr. James Burkman, We are sorry your visit wasn't ideal, even though you stayed for 10 courses and 4 hours. After speaking you had two issues in the first 30 minutes. (1) our server didn't know intimate details of the champagne, and (2) a glass of wine on the pairing was small and late. We don't like that either (and gave you replacement wine and upgraded your pairing, at a price difference of $165). We do take issue with that as a basis to humiliate/berate our, or any, staff. -YUCO
Love the décor and open kitchen view. Amazing cocktail choices. We had a la carte menu instead of the pre fix. Appetizers and desserts were both with excellent execution and taste. The entrée oxtail was a big disappointment. Too salty for our taste. Portions were small and pricy. It was a great one time experience to dine at Yuco but I don't have the urge to go back.
Excellent food, tiny portions, mediocre service, WAY overpriced.
I absolutely loved my experience at Yuco. The atmosphere to the service to the details in every plate. It was delicious, provocative, & beautiful. I enjoyed the long tasting & I definitely will do it again.
The wine pairing is surprising & demure - I even experienced a lovely paired mezcal with my dessert !
Didn't have the wine we requested. Very overpriced for what you get.
Hi Kate, Apologies for not having the wine you requested. Wines sell out sometimes and we did our best to find a replacement for you, which we didn't charge you for when you didn't like it. We are sorry that your experience wasn't ideal! We tried to make you feel better by discounting 40% of your food for you as well. We hope the rest of your night went well though! Best, The Yuco team
The food here was more creative and better than many of the Michelin star restaurants we visited.
Truly unique experience, the finest Mexican food I’ve ever had. Wine list was robust as well, service was excellent. Will return
Great service and excellent food! The purple drink cocktail was to die for
My experience at YUCO was lovely. I was seated promptly and had wonderful service. They were very accommodating to my food allergies and were happy to explain each dish, as it was delivered. The owner, Trent, was very attentive, as well. The music was great and the bartender is unparalleled.
I generally dine alone so service is key for me. When I go next, I hope to sit in the more intimate restaurant area, rather than the bar, but I will say that other parties in the bar area seemed to really feed off of the buzz there.
Spectacular in every way❣️❣️❣️
We made a reservation at the last minute and were pleased beyond our expectations. While the portions were small, the quality more than made up for it. The flavor combinations in every course were uniquely delicious and memorable. The service was great and the wine was also exceptional. Will go back and try the tasting menu next time.
Service and ambiance outstanding. Same with the cocktails, very interesting and innovative and very well prepared. The food was good, just a bit pricey for what it was.
Great fine dining experience, good for business meals
Great culinary experience! The food was delicious, excellent presentation, and each dish was carefully explained to us. It is pricey though.
Food was great and the service was fantastic. The sommelier in particular was very helpful!
Amazing Experience. Friendly service and really good wine list
Incredible meal. We did the long form tasting plus wine pairing, and each had a cocktail. The cocktails were creative and tasty (Five Ages of Corn; Spicy Margarita; Stirred Margarita). The food was very creative, flavorful and tasty. They added a few small dishes outside of the formal menu which were really good as well. The wine pairing was perfect. And the service was very attentive and friendly. Well done! We will be back.
The food is excellent here...especially the main dishes. The wait time between courses was too much. The portions for the appetizers was way too small.
Wonderful upscale Mexican. The chef was able to perfectly blend the right amount of chili in all the dishes including the aguachili sorbet. Their sommelier found me the perfect beverage for each course and made our night very special. Cant say enough good things.
Return again a second time, this restaurant continues to wow. The corn soup pork butt, the oxtail, ceviche, all the deserts are all excellent. They also have a great wine list and good service.
This is some of the best food in NYC regardless of style. I would recommend Yuco to anyone looking for a fine dining restaurant. Highly Recommended.
We had the 3 course pre-fixe. Great value and plenty of options. The squash blossom taco was surprisingly good middle course. The braised oxtail with mole was a hearty and delicious entree. This is not a place for burritos. Come here to enjoy gourmet Mexican at its finest. We left feeling satisfied, not hungry-which is good considering the price. Lighting in the main dining area could be a little lower for a more downtown ambiance.
The most amazing food, definitely recommend doing the prix fixe with the wine pairings, they were beautiful. Was a perfect place to celebrate a big birthday.
A true michelin star kitchen! The staff was not your regular michelin star restaurant staff, which we loved. They were friendly and nice. The food was amazing we loved the amuse bouche tastings! Would definitely recommend if you are looking for mexican food with an edge.
Fantastic dimming room, comfortable seating, great lighting and lots of character. Food was complex, balanced with excellent acidity. Portions may have been a bit small in my opinion, but at the same time I didn’t feel like I overate, so that’s good too. I highly recommend this restaurant and would certainly return!
YUCO should be a Michelin one star restaurant. At least. Not just the quality of the food, but the creative combination of intense flavors; the presentation (including the design of dish ware — especially glassware — crockery, and utensils); the quality and enthusiasm of all service staff, who clearly love their work and this restaurant make the dining experience not only supremely satisfying but also a uniquely pleasurable and memorable experience. We did not have to drink wine as the cocktail concoctions provided one delight after another and they always complemented whatever course was being served. Wizardry is a likely explanation. Simply a treasure.
Amazing food, a lovely experience esp for our anniversary. It was a once in a lifetime experience. And the level of detail and culinary artistry was unmatched. And the stirred Margarita was the best drink we have ever had.
You want to pay a lot for no food? Go here
This may be the best Mexican restaurant in town. The three course pre fixe for $95 was good to excellent. We had the Flor en Nogada (squash blossom, sweet plantain, prickly pear, walnut cream source. Excellent. The Lobster and Rajas was very good, though the lobster was a little rubbery. The Heritage Chicken Tamal was fine, though not in keeping with the other dishes. It was a little dry. The chocolate desert was excellent, along with the granite. Cocktails were quite good. There is an excellent wine list though there could be more to choose from in the under $100 category. Service was outstanding.
Amazing, top shelf experience, Michelin style dining, chefs are obviously well trained, presentation was posh, highly recommend
Amazing food! Highly recommend it
Food was excellent! I had the ceviche (wish it were slightly bigger) and the lobster (which was a perfect portion). I also had the chocolate dessert, which is probably one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! We all enjoyed the food immensely. Great decor too.
While the appetizers were extraordinarily delicious, the main dishes left a lot to be desired. The lobster was tough and seemed undercooked and almost inedible; the scallops were tasty but overly salty. The service was quite attentive but we felt almost "bullied" by the waitress to get the most expensive items and treated with some disdain for not choosing to order the way she recommended, which made the dining experience unpleasant. That said, the cost of the lobster was removed from our bill, which was quite gracious. The chocolate dessert was really inventive and complex.
