Service was very attentive and food arrived quickly upon order. Was not very crowded when we dined so that may have been a factor. Loved the Godzilla roll, and chef accommodated our request for substitutions (cucumber instead of avocado).
This was our first visit to Yucca. We were a party of 4 and we all absolutely loved our food. Everything from the soup(Mushroom) and appetizers (Edaname and Crab Ragoon), to our sushi rolls we were all so excited and satisfied. The prices were very reasonable. I have to order gluten free and this was one of the reasons I have not been able to enjoy sushi for awhile. Yucca has a dedicated gf menu which was very extensive. I was very, very pleased. My party loved their food as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the south suburbs.
With all the restaurants popping up including grocery stores offering sushi, it is nice to go to a restaurant that knows how to prepare and serve fresh, tasty and eye appealing sushi, you have to try Yucca. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is refreshing. You have to try it
Wine list is awful if you are a regular wine drinker!
First time visit. I was hesitant before entering the storefront doors, as they were covered with laminated specials like they have at every Nicky's I've seen; I half expected to see a three hotdogs/french fry combo for $3.99 posted among them. However, the actual restaurant is nicely decorated with dark, modern touches, and there are lots of booths in which to be seated. We ordered seared tuna and shrimp tempura w/vegetables for appetizers; the tuna was the most tender and tasty that I've had. It was incredibly tender--wow! Excellent tempura, especially the vegetables which included sweet potato and broccoli. Nicole, our sweet waitress, recommended a tuna roll with cilantro and jalepeno (as we wanted something spicy). It, too, was very unique and flavorful, but would have liked something a bit hotter (next time). The only thing I'd like to see change was the dull smooth jazz being played. Oh, and vodka martinis for $7? I'll be back!
Relaxing, reasonably priced. Good food. Good service.
Godzilla Roll, and Rock Roll were delicious!
I took my wife there for her birthday because I was recommended by a friend. Plus it is local so we didn't have to rush there. The place looked very modern and upscale w/high end looking fixtures. The friendly hostess greeted us and I told her we had reservations from Open Table. She said ok great, please follow me. The only problem was she didn't ask for my name, so how would she know who I was? I left special instructions to surprise my wife for her b-day, such as to bring out a dessert w/a candle or sing, or whatever they do. I didn't really demand anything, I just noted her name, age, and to do something nice (and put it on my tab). After we got seated I had to tell my wife some bullcrap so that I can go back up and tell the hostess my name to check me into Open Table and read my instructions because it's my wifes bday. She said ok no problem, we will do something "very special". So anyway, our waiter came out and he was very nice and we ordered. The food came out pretty quickly, looked excellent and tasted great! The night was going pretty good until the end. We asked for the check and the guy took forever. I knew that he was setting something special up for my wife. They finally came out with a nice fried banana ice cream dessert and a candle. They started to sing happy bday and when it came to the name part, they paused......Ok well, I said her name in place. Afterwards, the waiter said Happy 21st birthday and many more to come. Hold on....she's not 21 lol THEY OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T READ THE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS I LEFT!!!!!!!! That was embarrasing....
Highly recommend the Godzilla Roll and Chicago Fire Roll.
Everything was amazing at Yucca, from the decor to the cocktails to the service and of course the food. The meals were all fresh and creative. Many great flavors and some unique new combinations of rolls I have never seen before. An excellent choice and not too pricey.
This was a birthday dinner for my son who loves sushi. There were 6 in all in our party and everyone was very satisfied with their meal. My son order sushi, and the rest of us ordered from the "cooked food" menu. We started out with crab rangoon and vegetable spring rolls - they were very yummy. Definitely a place to come back to.
great local restaurant for sushi, but also cooked asian
The atmosphere of the evening was perfect for a date night. The hot sake was smooth and a delicious compliment to the entire meal. The nigiri pieces were served cold with generous slices of fresh fish, a refreshing change from other sushi places in the area where we've received bland fish over warm rice. The rolls tasted perfect, no specific ingredient over powering the others. Our server was attentive, polite, and friendly. The whole evening was wonderful and I would suggest any lover of sushi give Yucca a try if they have not yet done so.
Before heading out to our New Years Eve party we wanted to grab something to eat and when we looked up Sushi, Yucca came up with some outstanding reviews. We made reservations for 7 and we were greeted by the owner who was so nice, professional and very funny. He sat us down at 7 and as soon as we were in our seats our server was there. We asked about certain items on the menu and I must say the server was right on with her recommendations. The food came out with great timing as it was quick but not rushed had time for conversation and laughs. When we got our meal the portions were big but not over the top and the flavor was outstanding, everything tasted so good that we said this place is a keeper and we will be returning in the near future. Highly recommend this Hidden Gem on LaGrange!!!
★★★★★ It was Yucca's 1 year anniversary (Nov. 16th, 2014) and it felt like we were the guests of honor.
My husband and I have dined at Yucca about 3 times so far since it opened last year. We always love coming back. Every visit has been excellent, from the food, to the drinks, to the service. The sushi is so fresh, the taste of fresh sushi you learn by dining here. They are generous at Yucca, everyone takes pain staking care of every party. Tom, who is the owner has a great presence. He served us our "Love Boat", and we only ordered the sushi and sashimi for two, but the Love Boat that the sushi and sashimi was served upon was extra. Out of the blue, this wonderful surprise came our way.
Yucca surprises, it's nestled here in the south Chicago suburb of Orland Park, away from the craziness of the city. If you like sushi, steak, great drinks, music or you're looking for the kind of treatment every restaurant guest is looking for, then you'd be wise to visit Yucca.
Excellent neighborhood gem in Orland Park - very reasonable prices too! Great sushi and some good specials as well.
Service was great. Food was good but better last visit. The rolls kept fallnf apart.
Quiet and low key. Sushi was good but not superb. Waitstaff and manager were very attentive. I'd go back again.
Atmosphere looked cheap with nice light fixtures, waiter bought out entrees before sushi, Kung Poa with shirmp dish was dry, and the drinks weren't great. This place is like a small Chinese restaurant that really shouldn't be on open table honestly. Only good thing I can say is the dessert for my girlfriends birthday was delish. I think that was the only thing that was mildly upscale.
The restaurant is off the beaten path and I always forgot it was there until now. I was surprised...a good surprise... To see what the inside looked like...more downtown looking! But looks aren't everything. The food was very good. We tried two appetizers, the four of us each had a different entree and two desserts. We were happy with all of our selections. The staff was very friendly. We will be back. If you are looking for something new and not a chain, give this place a try!
We enjoyed! The owner was very nice also. We will be back
From the moment we entered the door, there was a friendly vibe. The host was very welcoming. They asked if we had been there before. When we said it was our first time, they made sure to make plenty of recommendations that were on point. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Excited to go back again and try other dishes. We were so glad we decided to come out to Yucca that night and will come back again.
Nice surprise to find this restaurant. We will be back.
The sushi was awesome and the staff was great!! They were very attentive and caring.
The food was the best I've had in the south suburbs.
Came here for Mother's Day with a group of 16. The restaurant was very beautiful and accommodating. The food was delish and will definitely be going again.
Great lunch prices with nice fesh shushi. The Chinese is good too, so my whole family can eat there.,
