The food and service was impeccable. We were there for my youngest son's birthday who turned 24. We were also there for the brunch which was absolutely delicious. Every staff member was highly professional and Polished. The food was very delicious, even the valet team was amazing.

Excellent ambiance and gorgeous outdoor and indoor setting. Hotel and decor is absolutely beautiful, and fits the mission-style of SJC. The food and service however, is overpriced and subpar, especially the lunch menu. Only recommended if atmosphere is top priority.

We had an early, 5:45 PM, dinner reservation at the restaurant that is housed in the Marriott Authogrpah property in San Juan Capistrano. We needed an early reservation to enable us to dine leisurely and get to our event at the Mission by 7:30 PM. Service was prompt and pleasant! Unfortunately, two of the items we ordered, a speciality drink and the pork chop entree were not available. That seemed odd since it was so early in the evening, and it would have been nice to know those unavailabilities before we spent time perusing the menu and making our decision. Nevertheless, we made alternative choices, and we enjoyed a delicious meal and so convenient to the Mission. With validation, parking was still $ 10.00, so I would not park at the hotel again.

We were staying at the hotel for a quick night away and decided to try the restaurant. The service was earnest but a little green - examples include: The host asking if we’d like to have a drinks menu as he grabbed the food menus to take us to our table (when has anyone not wanted to have a drink with dinner?); bringing our tapas-style appetizers and asking if we wanted plates!; I enquired about the Tomahawk steak, asking what size. The server offered a guess of 12 ounces, I shook my head and suggested it must be a lot more. She did eventually come back and let me know it was 48oz with the bone. Finally they brought us a desert unprompted as I’d indicated my wife and I were celebrating an anniversary on the reservation which was nice - although had they asked we would have ordered an additional desert but they didn’t. When the bill came I was amused to see a $10 charged labelled “birthday desert” but at least once I was able to flag down our server she apologized and immediately corrected it. Food was fine - asked for Tomahawk medium rare and indeed it was although it could have used a few degrees more heat the center part was a little under for a steak like this but I was able to polish it off anyway. We’d ordered squash blossoms small plate but they were oddly prepared and I’d advise giving those a miss.

Food was absolutely declicious, especially the bacon steak and the elot fries - they had tons of flavor. The dessert was fantastic, both of the specials are worth getting. The churros were wonderful and the custard type specialty had a very delicious and unique taste. The ambience was beautiful, elegant, historic and fun. So much history in San Juan and it's definitely woven into the entire experience. Highly recommend, can't wait to go back and try more tapas dishes!

Very disappointed. Sat at the bar before dinner, and even though it was not busy, took forever to not only get someone’s attention to take the order, but took even longer for us to be able to cash out. When it came to the food, I asked what the market fish was, and he gave me this detail description of the trout dish. I ordered it. When it arrives, I startd to eat not realizing there’s no way this is trout…it was salmon. When I asked the waiter about it, his only response was “well that’s good to know”. The other dish that was ordered was a vegetarian tofu type dish. We asked if they could somehow alter it to make it spicy. Give it a little kick. The waiters response was, “that’s not a problem. The chef is creative.” Basically, the dish came and it was slices of tofu off a block. Not even seared. And it was slathered with buffalo sauce. That’s it. Unbelievably disappointing with this place. Would never go back.

Took my husband today for Father’s Day & although the ambience was great, the food was mediocre and service was inconsistent. We had a reservation & couldn’t be seated immediately d/t “staff being backed up with orders” - didn’t mind the wait, but the place was not even busy. We had a lunch reservations and could only order from breakfast menu. We asked for straws and the guy came holding them with his bare hands . Just overall felt embarrassed cause I had more expectations.

If you are gluten-free, beware! They have items on their menu listed as Gluten-Free that are, in fact, not gluten free. My girlfriend is very gluten sensitive and she ended up getting sick after eating here.
