I don't want to write a great review because I want to save this magical place for ourselves(!) The view was Yosemite Falls in its grandeur. The food was delicious. I loved the cabbage rolls and creme bulee. The waiters were attentive and helpful. There was a long wait for the food, but as the hostess of our table, I noticed my friends were loving the atmosphere, enjoying each other, and did not seem to mind the wait.

Attractive dining room. Not as quiet as one might like, but one can converse. Filet steak was excellent, came with very tasty roasted peppers. Halibut was very good but not warm enough. Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet very good. Several beers were not available. Dessert choices limited. Service was okay but slow with the drinks. Prices are very high, unjustifiably so. Maybe I'm just a Luddite but I could not figure out how to cancel a reservation with the OpenTable app and the restaurant does not answer telephone calls although one can leave a message.

After a few days of "camping" at Curry Village, we wanted a more upscale meal experience. We were satisfied overall with The Mountain Room and would willingly eat there again. I should note that we needed to make the reservation several days in advance - - people were being turned away as we waited for our table to be prepared. The dining room is lovely and even though mostly full, we were easily able to carry on a conversation. Our first course was the Caesar Salad. It is a bit different than most, served with a sprinkle of bonito flakes on the top and a side of anchovies. We liked it. It looked at first like the salad had too much dressing on it, but apparently the dressing is lighter than we thought from first appearances. It is possible to get the bonito flakes deleted and/or skip the side of anchovies. The anchovies, by the way, were fresh pickled, not the typically salty, smoked and canned variety. They were excellent. The croutons were probably the low point, with little crunch. My wife was thrilled with the trout, which was actually red meat trout - - the best type of trout as far as we are concerned. She also was pleased to find that her mojito was prepared according to the traditional recipe - - the only way to make them correctly in our opinion. The waiter made two errors, none of any great consequence. I asked for my cocktail on the rocks ("over" as old school drinkers put it) but it arrived "up." I let it go . The next error was that I asked for the waiter's recommendation as to which cabernet sauvignon to pair with the rack of lamb that I ordered; he brought me a merlot. I pointed out the error this time and was served instead with a glass of a good cabernet. Despite the errors, "Sean" was likable and we would not complain if he waited on us again someday. My rack of lamb was well prepared and generous in size. The mango bread putting was very good. The price was probably high, but typical of what we pay in San Francisco for that quality.

Best food at the lodge. Eat here, but skip the others. If you’re on a budget, go to Curry Village.

The food was disappointing. The chicken was dry and the mussels Thai sauce was too salty. Our waiter was good as was his assistant. We go to Yosemite almost every year. Dining at the Ahwahnee is a far nicer experience.

Food was excellent - we had the French onion soup and bread basket, wagyu burger and lamb rack and then for dessert a sweet potato pie. Ask to sit by the window/view.

The food and service were excellent. Although we had a late reservation, they accommodated us earlier and gave us a nice table by the window. The flourless chocolate cake was a delicious way to end a great day in Yosemite.

The steak was excellent and service was personal and on its game at all levels. This restaurant is in stark contrast to the formerly excellent Ahwahnee Hotel... which is not only over priced but food is mediocre. We were very pleased with our dinner at the Mountain Room.

Sean, our waiter, helped to make the evening a success. Steak filet was scrumptious. Salmon was good. Chicken was very good. Good wine selection. Water glasses filled often. Found it odd that with such high prices, bread was extra. Prices are very high. Dining room is attractive but a bit too loud, but nowhere near as loud as the Mountain Room Lounge or the Base Camp Eatery.
