The food was tasty after a long day of walking the valley floor. Service was quick and considerate. And we were seated by a huge window with Upper Yosemite Falls in the distance!

I have been eating at the Mountain Room since 1990. As it IS a bit pricey, I usually only eat one meal there per visit. However, with that said, I have never had a bad meal there. I don't eat a lot of red meat, but, as I do much walking and hiking there, a good, juicy steak is a welcome treat. Last night, I had the NY Strip and I can honestly say that it was one of the best steaks I've had in a while. It was TENDER, JUICY, PERFECTLY prepared and had a lot of FLAVOR. The accompaniments were also very good. The service was, as always, excellent. I'm a single diner and I have never felt ignored. Over the years, every waiter has provided excellent, but unobtrusive service. Only once, in 95 did I receive less than stellar service, and because of my complaints, got that server fired. The following year, I was complimented by the rest of the wait staff as he was ruining their reputation. As to the pricey nature, this IS a resort. Look at all the other restaurants in Yosemite and their prices. Yosemite is one of my favorite places on earthy, so I'm willing to splurge for one night to receive an excellent dinner.

The views are amazing, however the food was sub-par. We had to send back our Caesar salads as they tasted like jalapeños had been added to the dressing. Our mashed potatoes were cool and a bit like cement, the baby carrots and rolls were very good. The rib eye steak was cooked properly but a lower cut of beef. The service was very good. I’ve been dining here for 40 years and this was the least impressive meal I’ve had.

Food was reasonably good although expensive. Slightly cheaper than the majestic but not nearly as elegant and service like a mid grade restaurant. Gets very crowded even off season and reservations recommended

It was so smokey the first night we had to sit by an open door in a cold draft. The chicken I ordered was Done to a fare the well and dry as kansas. The waitress asked if she could get me a better one and then brought back the same type of dry chicken breast swimming in some kind of liquid which took over the entire plate. So disappointed. The second night we also had a reservation, but it was even smokier in the dining room, so we left.

Wonderful dinner and exceptional service...attentive, not intrusive...thoughtful. We continue to return here and are convinced that the staff at Yosemite Valley Lodge Mountain Room could give much-needed instruction to many at the re-named Ahwahnee where the once gracious service --like the former name--is a thing of the past.

The trout was so impressive, I had it twice. Love to see servers we have

Food was delicious....much better than the dinner we had at the Awahnee/Majestic Hotel the night before. The Awahnee Dining Room maybe more elegant, but if it is a good meal you want, the Mountain Room is the place to go!

I'd recommend this restaurant, but don't expect a window table, even if there are plenty of seats available in that section of the restaurant. We were told we had to sit near the back of the restaurant because the hostess needed to "balance" out customers to make sure every waiter had somebody to help. I'm not sure why our waiter couldn't simply be assigned to go to where we were -- say, someplace with an actual view.

This is an outstanding place to eat. The service is excellent, the food was great and the view of Yosemite Falls from the dining room is breathtaking. We were a party of 9 with several special requests. Our waiter served us efficiently and made all of us feel like we had gotten very special treatment. We will return next time we are in Yosemite.

My family has frequented Yosemite for the Vintners Events and always go to the Mountain Room one night for a nicer, more enjoyable & pleasant evening dining experience. We've never been disappointed with any part of the evening.

When I made the reservation, there was NO indication that you would not have the regular menu. Our daughter has food issues and they could not be met. It was overpriced and we will not be back.

I admit to being surprised that the food was so good. We ate at the Grand Majestic the next night and I really think the Mountain Room had more delicious food (and at a better price). It was a lovely spot and I'd eat there again. My friend, who is tolerant and kind, referred to our server as "aggressive," which was apt. It seemed that serving a group of 9 was more than she could manage.

Eat here for dinner only! It is expensive, and one of two service dining rooms in Yosemite Park.
I only recommend eating here, because you don't have much of an option if you want to have full service. You may want to eat in the cafeteria or go to the Deli in the Village, but they are mediocre at best. The view is of the Yosemite Falls!

Nice evening
For the finest dining in the Yosemite Valley, the Majestic Hotel Dining room is still the place for comparison. Our meal at the Majestic was a notch or 2 above the Mountain Room which includes the ambience service and food.
Overall a fine meal at the Mountain Room.

We had a nice table by the window which made this trip to the Mountain room very good. I had the portobello mushroom dish which was delicious. It was a nice Mexican-styled presentation which was yummy.

The kids had $18 burgers...Welcome to Yosemite. It is the Disneyland of the Sierras. HA!

The steaks were good but some appeared to have a high amount of gristle but they were enjoyed nonetheless.

Family gathering for after wedding event. The ambiance was great and host greeting good as well. The waiters at both tables were rude and unaccommodating...they acted like they did not like their jobs. However, the food was excellent to offset the disappointing service.

While at Yosemite, our group of nine family members ate at both the Mountain Room and the Awahnee dining room. The Mountain Room was by far the superior dining experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we felt like valued guests at the Montain Room. The Awahnee cost far more, the service was slipshod, and in their effort to hurry us along in the Awahnee dining room, the plates were swiped away almost before we were finished, some of the food had obviously been held on a warming shelf with predictable results, and the waiters were indifferent. We definitely will dine at the Mountain Room int he future.

It was our first time to Yosemite Valley Lodge, and we were excited to celebrate our anniversary at brunch. We were looking forward to the amazing view that was shown in the pictures on the Internet, unfortunately there is no way to see the falls from the restaurant as shown on the Internet.
The food was pricey for what was available. It's convenient if you're staying at the lodge. The servers were friendly, and attentive.

We had dinner with 3 adults and 8 kids. A perfect view of the waterfall right above us. The food was wonderful. The kids' meals were good for the price and everyone had a great time!

We dine at the mountain room every year and were excited to try their “new” menu...I had the trout that was just ok. I heard the salmon was good enough. The salads choices weren’t very interesting..the most interesting , the Caesar, was not very good. So, not impressed with their new food. As always, though, the service is great and you can’t beat the ambience.

Really poor experience. Granted it was a busy time (Thanksgiving weekend), but reservations were not honored and host/hostess desk was uncooperative. Not likely to return regardless of time of year.

We had reservations for two tables (8 and 9 people) under two names for 7pm. We arrived before 7pm. First table was not available until 7:30 and second table was not seated until almost 8pm (despite open tables that could have been used). The staff complained that Open Table allowed too many reservations. Another large party who arrived after our parties was seated before our second group - probably because they were very obnoxious to hostess.

No discount or or other compensation was offered or agreed to despite the extreme inconvenience of a very long wait and the time lag between seating our two parties (all one family).

Food was not impressive, despite high prices. Our server was very nice and did all she could to help our table. Restaurant was not prepared for what is well -known as a busy time (and Aramark KNOWS how many people are staying in park and how limited the food options are at Thanksgiving - no excuse for not being prepared).

I do not like leaving less than positive reviews, but our experience at this restaurant was a first for me. The waiter only asked my husband and I what we wanted to drink, just serving my children water. The waiter also completely ignored our requests for how we wanted our food served, bringing out almost raw steaks and under cooked salmon. When my husband cut into his steak, it actually squirt blood onto the table. When he tried to get our server’s attention, he was completely ignored for about 10 minutes. My son’s steak was also very bloody and both were eventually sent back to the grill. They came back out 20 minutes later with huge dollups of garlic butter on top, which we had asked to not be included in the first place. My $30 salmon was still raw in the middle, which was a common trend since the couple next to us also sent their salmon back to the kitchen. Our waiter (who thought making jokes about picky eaters was OK) could tell our frustration was climbing and brought us out a bread pudding “on the house”... No one in my party likes bread pudding, so it sat there untouched.
I’m not sure if this is a common theme for this restaurant, but when you are paying for a fine restaurant experience, you expect your food to be cooked, at the very least!

There are limited dining options within the park as a whole. However, when I️ looked at the menu online (which is incorrect); I️ mush have gotten my hopes up to high. The food is average at best. Additionally, with our reservation we still had to wait another 30 minuets before we were seated. Overall, not sure it’s really worth the price.

The food and service in the Yosemite Valley Lodge Mountain Room is on par with the Majestic (Ahwahnee). The view is magnificent. We were a party of six. We made reservations several months in advance for a Friday night in October and were glad we did.
