The Mountain Room was closed due to COVID 19 and the o Dine in restrictions.
We have dinned there before and have gotten wonderful service and some good dishes that tasted great.
This was the best dinner in my whole life. While Yosemite is closed, I imagined eating near the waterfalls and enjoying the view of a grand meal served by 20 tuxedo dressed waiters I. White gloves. The champagne was free and flowing just like the water falls of Yosemite. Viewing both the Eiffel Tower and the Pyramids of Giza while we dinner on rare Russian sturgeon as the highlight of the meal. This is definitely the place to eat. And as a side note, they give free moon rocks to children under the age of 18.
Birthday dinner for my husband. Entrees (filets and burger) were fabulous, as was the bday dessert. The lobster Mac and cheese balls had no sighting or taste of lobster, otherwise the food would have gotten 5 stars. The waiter was a lot slow and quiet, but gave otherwise good service and advise.
So glad that the Mountain Room has joined Open Table! We had a wonderful meal. We both ordered the filet mignon and they were cooked to perfection (even though I had a different request than my husband.) Our server was attentive and took good care of us. The setting is lovely, especially if you dine before the sun sets so you can catch a glimpse of Yosemite Falls from the window. The restaurant is family-friendly, but still feels nice enough for a date.
The trout was excellent, however the chicken mole was bland
Had a most wonderful perfectly grilled filet mignon dinner and my husband the huge double pork chop. All was excellent - thank you for honoring our reservation for a window table too !
We were very disappointed with the food selection, preparation, taste, temperature, etc. The staff was pleasant but overwhelmed.
Jeff was a great waiter! We really enjoyed having him serve us during our dinner. My kale salad was amazing and would definitely recommend. I was excited for the lobster Mac n cheese bites but they were just okay. Overall, we would definitely recommend and go back again.
Beautiful room but everything else sucks and expensive. Classic national parks captive audience experience. Yay socialism
This venue was much better than the Base Camp Eatery option, but not quite as up-scale as it was described. Good enough to serve our needs though and we would go back!

Menu similar to the Ahwahnee but reasonable (plus you can wear outdoor wear). We enjoyed walking to the restaurant from the Ahwahnee, the night sky was resplendent and we saw 2 shooting stars. Food was excellent and waitstaff friendly. We always dine here at least once when in Yosemite (we usually stay in Housekeeping).
Food and service were ok. Ambiance made up for all of that.
The dinning room is spectacular, the service was okay and the food was expensive and mediocre.
I wasn't terribly impressed by the Mountain room. We both ordered the chicken mole... I found it bland, and a bit too sweet. I make a better mole at home. Service was good Cheyenne, a busperson, was very helpful and chipper. The prices were a bit high for what we got.
Our waiter was great. However, we missed having Clive Lee wait on us this time. At least to us, he has become a legend, a living treasure !
We enjoyed a great meal in a beautiful setting! Our server was efficient, friendly and attentive. Our food was served promptly but we never felt rushed. A great selection of organic, sustainable food prepared perfectly! We have been coming to Yosemite for many years and the Mountain Room never fails to impress!
We love this place but this time the chef was having a bad day my steak was over cooked cooked and dry we order it pink and my Brussels spouts where hard them the bread pudding was more like warmed up muffin still the view was great
I was disappointed in the cost of food. It has increased so much in the last two years. The prices were like Ahwahnee prices two years ago. And, the chicken mole was uninspired to boot.
Something strange was going on with the seating system. People were made to wait for a table when there many empty ones. It could not have been the case that so many were ‘reserved’ awaiting guests: just too many empty but so many sad, hungry folks waiting.

Dining options are limited in Yosemite so as far as options go for "upscale" dining, the quality of the food and service was good. It is comparable to the Awanhee, however, the food is a bit better at the Awhanee and the ambiance is definitely better.
We had a great experience with both food, drink, and service with our server Vince. We chose it over Ahwanhee based on others review and we were not disappointed. We would go back and look forward to returning next winter when the crowds are low and the air is fresh in Yosemite.
We chose a vegetarian dish of Portebello mushrooms that she thought was amazing plus a kale salad very fresh. Great room with large framed photo's of what you see throughout your time in Valley. Imagine in summer you would need reservations. Enjoy!
We had a pleasant dining experience. The mole chicken was good for a non-Mexican restaurant and the soup was very tasty. The Caesar salad was a disappointment.
Dining room is as spectacular as photos led us to anticipate. An Ansel Adams Gallery within, and Yosemite Valley views outside the walls of windows added to the joy of celebrating my husband’s birthday trip. Our waiter was stretched on the February Sunday night, and we missed having a bit of congenial conversation with a local. Nonetheless, he delivered excellent service albeit quick and hurried. The menu is tightly curated, and promises organic, free-range, sustainable, and plant-based options. The free-range chicken mole was excellent, and accompanied by winter squash. I was allowed to switch ancient grains for roasted Brussel sprouts. Husband’s Kurobata pork chop was grilled to his request, topped with a tasty onion-bacon jam compote, and accompanied by Delmonico potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts. Both entrees were generous in portion, with chef-driven sauces/topping. National Park dining does not usually deliver such high quality from their kitchens!
We loved the food and drinks! Our server as great suggestions and was very attentive. The chocolates our server brought at the end of our meal made our day!
Good if you are a 70 year old folk looking for convinience . Only option in town.

Our waiter delivered our food and never came back to the table to check on the food . we had to flag him down. He opened our wine, poured one round and never poured another... we had to open our third bottle our selves...
This is one of the fancier dining option in Yosemite Valley. They provided 2 different types of butter for the rolls (which were awesome). The restaurant is spacious and was able to accommodate several large groups. During the day there are excellent views of Yosemite Falls. I had the trout, which was well done, and the potatoes were perfect. Seating and service were quite efficient. The kitchen provided catering to a function next door in the Garden Terrace Room, and the food was great there also.
My wife and I had dinner here two days in a row and enjoyed both times. We we staying at the Ahwahnee hotel but could not get reservations there so we tried the Mountain Room and were glad we did. The food was great and the atmosphere pleasant. It’s a hidden gem. We will defiantly return.
Great food and friendly atmosphere. The dining room is not fancy, but the food was delicious and the framed photos from the Ansel Adams collection were beautiful. We had the salmon and the pork chop and would highly recommend both.
Pleasantly surprised. The food was well above average. I was expecting resort food but it was much better than I expected.
We went the for dinner and the power went out.
The staff was professional, helpful and made the best out of the situation with candles and great attitudes.

We walked right in and got a window for two. Had our favorite waitress, Lynn. She is such a nice friendly face and always seems cheerful. Very efficient, especially when the restaurant seems to be understaffed a lot. Our food came quickly and someone always came by to pour more water and to be sure we were happy. Mountain House is the only restaurant we will eat dinner. The quality of food is consistently good. It was a wonderful birthday dinner celebration. Ambiance is lovely and it was very romantic when the power went out for awhile. People loved it.

Great food. Best trout I have had. Mist yet the skin crispy and so tasty. The mushroom and shrimp cocktail appetizers were very good too. Also had the poached pear was good too. Excellant placevto have a good dinner. Nit cheap but then nothing is cheap in Yosemite. I would recommend. Awanhee iscthe best and this us a close second.
The room is large with very high ceilings, and the layout is not cozy, but the lighting was low which helps with atmosphere. Our server came over promptly and kept checking back appropriately. The chicken mole dish had some zip and was very satisfying. The French onion soup and kale/beet salad get two thumbs up. The glasses of wine we chose were tasty and the pour was generous. We will be back.
Our server was wonderful! And the food was delicious- a little pricey but that comes with being in Yosemite. Not as expensive as the Ahwahnee, and in my opinion better food!
Like all Yosemite dining, it seems impossible to create a special meal on a large scale, so you end up with semi- mass produced food served in a large dining room environment where customer service training is minimal and the staff are quite content showing up to work everyday with little ambition or drive to excel
Majority of the food was excellent - except for the Cowboy steak. Two both came very rare when ordering medium. Serving staff was great but waited a long time for food.
