we love this place and will definitely go back. the menu will be changed every couple months and we don't want to miss any of them!
Hmmm… Maybe I am being harsh but for $420 for two people, I expected a lot more… You’d go anywhere with the amount and it will be better food than here… sorry… just everything was not going together…. Unagi Ochazuke was really weird with sauce and all… most food was just burdock roots and mushrooms. Outdoor traditional table was a good idea but it gets cold really quick and the waiter doesn’t help turning it back on…. Waiter seemed like he wanted to explain the food but wasn’t sure he cared whether we were comfortable or anything. Still gave 20% tip but just wanted to add that it would have been nice if the kotatsu didn’t turn off the mid dining and became too cold to sit out. Food really wasn’t good at all. I’m sorry…
A great curated menu and a unique dining experience. The server was extremely knowledgeable and explained all the dishes in detail, and engaged us in fun conversation as well. A great deal for omakase in the city at only $110pp. There were two off menu items that could be added to the meal for an additional $20. The sake menu was great as well. Highly recommend to anyone searching for an omakase meal.
Marvelous experience, delicious meals, service impeccable!
Impeccable service, delicious, well-portioned and satisfying 5 course meal with wonderful sake to accompany it. 4-stars only because it is a quite expensive meal that relied on a lot of vegetable and dashi throughout (meaning it didn’t particularly feature outstanding proteins to justify the price point) in a relatively humble (though comfortable) setting. I still absolutely would recommend and would love to try it again in the future to see how the meal evolves. The food we received was all delicious, and our service was top-notch, kudos to the whole staff!
It was just a lovely experience, everyone was so kind, the food was delicious, and would def go back!
Outstanding kaiseki meal (they call it an “izakaya” but this is really a modern, more causal kaiseki style progression) at a very reasonable price. Great PQR. And the little dining stall outside was really cute and comfortable as long as you can deal with not having a back rest. Service was very friendly, professional and solicitous without being too formal. Loved this place and will be back! Highly recommended!!!!
This restaurant is part of Yopparai next door, and offers an awesome and homey tasting menu. The setting definitely gives you a nostalgic feeling of the old Yopparai. The service is excellent, especially Kevin, who is very friendly and knowledgeable. We were seated at the chef’s table, which is awesome because you can see the chef in action. Can’t wait to go back to try their cute and cozy Japanese style seating outdoor next time!
Outstanding experience that reminded us our dinners at Kyo Ya before they close. The server was very friendly and professional. Food was excellent and unique!
We had a great time! The food was delicious and Kevin was a great host! Highly recommend it!
Really good value for money with high quality ingredients. Japanese chef is a michelin star awarded chef. Good value at this price point.
Very authentic Japanese Kaiseki Omakase course in cosy atmosphere.
Professional, delicious, and amazing experience! Highly Recommend.
The experience was amazing. The server did so well to describe each dish as they were served and gave us great tips for deciding one what sake would compliment our tastes. We got to sit by the window area so we had a view of the chefs at work. Our seating location also made date night feel special
A wonderful experience and presentation. Will come back again.
Came here for my birthday dinner after going to the other Yopparai restaurant down the street. Unfortunately did not really enjoy any of the dishes. Feel very bad about how much money we spent.
Fabulous dining experience. Zen like calm. Amazingly precise servings. Bravo, one of my best ever dining experiences.
Amazing omakase experience! Go with a big appetite
A gem hidden away on Clinton Street. A real value for a high end kaiseki dinner.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Sat in a wonderfully decorated isolated, well heated from beneath, cubby outdoor on the chilly street (Covid Re-Open). The heat was perfect. Service was top level, 6 course Omakase was delicious and approachable. Didn’t find anything too “fancy” or over the top; very well planned and executed menu. Overall experience puts this in my Top 10 Worldwide. And considering it wasn’t terribly expensive for a tasting menu, that gives it bonus points!
Having been a fan of Yopparai for years, I wanted to try the new Yopparai Ronin. It’s brand new and what an amazing experience! It’s a chef’s tasting, like an omakase) and the variety of flavors of the raw and cooked fish, meet and vegetables was sublime!
Outstanding date night experience. Reserved kotatsu table outside. Amazing omakase menu. Thank you for all thoughtful touches.
Yopparai Ronin was an extremely unique and special experience. The staff was exceptionally helpful and attentive, the food was spectacular, and the space itself was perfect. Nothing but positive things to say about this.
Fantastic new concept. Very good for private dinning and reasonable prices.
My fiance and I came here during our staycation and had a wonderful experience. We had the five course set meal and were blown away by the high quality and tastiness *every single* item on the menu. The washu beef was incredibly tender and the unagi was wonderfully soft and yummy. The homemade tofu is just perfect and we loved how it was served in the hotpot over the small fire. The service is absolutely impeccable. You will be transported to Japan when you sit down at this restaurant which is great during the pandemic when we can't really travel. We had an amazing time and recommend this place 100%!
Service was incredible! Our servers were attentive and friendly. Omakase was also excellent quality.
It was such a treat during these crazy times. Warm and cozy and delicious sake with a superb feast.
As a fan of Yopparai and Asazu, I was thrilled to hear the team was opening a new, more laid back music-themed izakaya. Delicious dishes, great drinks, awesome decor and hospitality as always. Congrats!
