Yono's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was a birthday dinner and they treated my friend like royalty. Food was excellent, light piano music played live as we drank wine and perused menu. Wine list extensive, food creative, and we were told all food could be modified to dietary restrictions.
The food and ambiance were excellent. However, although we indicated this was a birthday celebration and Yono's called to confirm that, while they did have a personalized menu for our birthday guest, they forgot to bring out the candle with dessert and have the pianist play the birthday song (as they did for 2 other customers). A disappointment given the size of the check.
We enjoyed our visit to Yono
The waitstaff is exceptional and the food was very good. We did not care for where we were sitting which was near an open door so you could hear the restaurant next-door. We will be more specific about where we want to sit next time
We dine here regularly so we know what to expect. Normally everything is perfect; however, our recent visit did not stand up to our high expectations. Appetizers, wine and dessert were excellent as always; however, our entrees were subpar at best. My wife ordered a $56 ribeye steak special and I ordered lamb which I've had in the past. The steak was of poor quality and over cooked. My lamb was very small, only about 5 bites, and had little taste. The server we started with did nothing to deal with the issue. Another employee, I believe she was the hostess, came to our table but her approach and words regarding the problem only made the matter worse. Fortunately, another long time server who knew us, Gigi, came to our table and helped to salvage the evening. The steak was removed from our bill but I am still annoyed at the overall treatment we, as regulars, received from the restaurant. We won't be back in the foreseeable future. They may have permanently lost us as customers after this experience.
What a great place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary! The food was fabulous! Every dish was so tasteful with a variety of flavours that blended together deliciously. Nothing overpowering or imbalanced. The ambiance was impeccable. Very quiet, subdued lighting, live music from a great singer/pianist in the background made dinner very comfortable. And the best part was the consistent and continual attentiveness of the staff. They were all incredibly kind and worked very hard to make us feel at ease and take careof everything we needed. They were very personable and took time to explain what each dish was. I don't know why we never went there before, but we will definitely be back!
It was a nice surprise seeing our names on the menu congratulating us on our 30th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the Traditional Indonesian Rijsttafel menu with the tailored wine selection. The food is delicious. The chocolate "Happy 30th Anniversary" message on our dessert made this dinner even more special. The service was exceptional . It was a lovely dining experience and we look forward to our next dinner there soon.
My husband & I celebrated his 60th birthday at Yono's Restaurant. This upscale, fine dining restaurant is unique in the Capital District & THE place to celebrate special occasions. The five course Traditional Indonesian Rijsttafel with wine pairings was an epicurean delight. The quiet atmosphere ensured a romantic dining experience. Every detail was carefully attended to by the staff - including birthday wishes , in chocolate sauce, on my husband's Indonesian Bananas Foster plate.
We recommend Yono's to everyone interested in delicious, beautifully prepared foods & an extensive wine list.
My fiancé and I were celebrating our birthdays. We were greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne when we were seated. The roasted tomato and red pepper velouté amuse bouche was incredibly flavorful and perfect. The salmon tartare appetizer was fantastic as well. I got my usual short ribs dish for main course which never disappoints. Our crème brûlée dessert came with happy birthday message and a candle. Wonderful service and delicious food throughout the night. We always look forward to dining at Yono's.
#yono's in #albany was a lovely find for a special occasion! Top notch service, New York State wines and a chef's tasting menu #foodies will love! Creative flavor profiles on every dish we had from the citrus scallop crudo to the pork belly and Icelandic lamb to the strawberry merengue dessert... and a few amuse bouche to boot! Extravagant but worth it!
One of the best dining experiences. The wait staff is very attentive and they anticipate your needs. The 24 hour braised pork belly is divine. The wine pairings are perfect. Definitely a must try. As a recent transplant to Albany, this made me love the city all the more.
Yono's is located within DB's, which is itself within the Hampton Inn, which means there are likely no walk-ins, there are no windows, and you have to pay to park. It is quiet enough for a business meeting without being "dead". The service is very attentive (maybe a tad obsequious) and they present the food with good descriptions. The food itself is interesting to both American and Pan-Asian palates, is high-end with some locavore offerings, and Yono's provides excellent and knowledgeable accommodation to food allergies (including offering fresh-from-the-oven gluten free rolls). They also accommodated special requests and offered several tasting menus.
nice atmosphere, had quiet piano playing to set the anniversary mood. we went with the 5 course Indonesian tasting menu with wine pairings. Portions were a bit large for a tasting. We took some of course 3 thru 5 home. EXCELLENT wine pairings. Companion didn't want white wine pairings, and was immediately given red pairings. Will go back to try other menu items.
Wedding anniversary dinner. Yono's staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and plentiful. Velvet upholstered purse stools (Italian tradition) were offered to other guests. My wife was not offered but obtained her own from the dining room. Size of Yono's dining room was a bit on the small side. Seating was limited. Recommend advanced reservations. Noise level okay. Live piano and occasional singing by talented artist. Extensive and impressive wine list. My spouse has eaten authentic, home made Indonesian food at a family friends' home. Yono's first and second course Indonesian fried rice dish was saturated in soy sauce and molded to the pan. A bit disappointing. The entrée portions of the tuna loin and pan roasted duck were small and not as flavorful compared to the mid to high end equivalent restaurants of Midtown Manhattan. Several sauces and purees decorated the plates but did not contribute significantly to entrée flavor. My wife and I shared the Indonesian bananas foster. Unfortunately, the bananas were unripe and uncaramelized. Nice place to visit once but may select a different, mid to high end restaurant for future special occasions.
