Located adjacent to Yono's, is dp An American Brasserie, a decidedly more casual alternative. www.dpbrasserie.com
I chose Yono’s because I love Indonesian food. I ordered the riestaffel and the wine pairings. The good news is that the wines were excellent and the pours generous. But the food was a real disappointment: tasteless sauces and the short rib rendang — a dish I normally love— was all fat and no meat. The exceptions were the spicy noodles which accompanied the duck and the crispy pork belly with the orange-ginger sauce. The best course was their take on bananas Foster, which came with a slightly salty coconut cake and a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. Overall, I regretted spending so much money on such a disappointing meal.
Incredible birthday dinner experience. The 5 course Indonesian option was fantastic. Will highly recommend this to others.
Extremely happy with the food and the services were extraordinary
Our meal took 3.5 hours After the first three courses the pace slowed to uncomfortable 25 minute intervals. I believe this was due to the arrival of a prominent NYS official and his party of about eight. The wait staff was buzzing around them attending to all of their needs.
The meal of an eight course tasting menu was perfect at each presentation. Each a masterpiece of beauty and flavor.
Wonderful experience- food, service, all of it.
Always a great experience! Great food and a huge wine selection.
It was nice atmosphere but food could have been hotter and Ed the waiter had a very loud voice
This was an amazing experience. The food was great as was the service. Everything we ate was explained to us before eating from the very knowledgeable staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The good- service was impeccable. Attentive and lovely.
We enjoy good food and don't mind paying for it but this meal was average at best. For $250 dollars without any alcohol or tip, we expected food to be amazing and it just wasn't. Honestly, meat was tough and many dishes were not flavorful. We had 2 different tasting menus. We weren't looking for a value meal but definitely expected a culinary experience
The food was good but my expectations might have been too high. But I have to mention the service by both Ed and Ryan. They were exceptional. They made feel welcome and relaxed. They simply could not have been better. Cudos to Ed and Ryan.
Fine dining but it is expensive. Ed and Ryan were great taking care of us.
Food was outstanding as was the service. They were very accommodating to food allergies. Wonderful experience!
If you are looking for a unique, fine dining great all around service experience, Yono's is terrific. I had been there in years and the ambience is great. Fresh bread and great drinks. That being said, be prepared to spend a tremendous amount of money. I know a lot of orep work goes into the dishes, but $250 with tip for 2 people is a bit much. Overall a very nice time.
Wonderful service and the food was outstanding
The service, food was wonderful! We will definitely go again.
The service was exemplary and the food was delicious. We celebrated our anniversary here and the staff was very thoughtful and attentive. We would highly recommend it.
We love coming to Yono's for all our major life celebrations, they know just how to make you feel relaxed and the attention to detail is top-notch!
We got engaged at Yono's and have celebrated many of our Anniversaries and Birthday and we always leave smiling - truly the greatest fine dining in the Capital District.
Yono's is a culinary delight. The staff and dining experience is above and beyond expectations. Yono's never fails to delight every taste bud and the presentation is glorious! Any special occasion becomes heightened with this culinary delight. Thank you for making our night so wonderful and memorable.
‘The Team’ couldn’t have done a better job making a special occasion even more special. And the food was extraordinary, as usual !!
The food was outstanding! The service was top notch. Such a treat to visit.
Yono’s is arguably the finest restaurant in the Capitol district. Every part of dinner was exceptional, from the cocktails, to the dinner, to the wine, to the dessert and especially to the level of service. Just outstanding.
Great food and service
This restaurant is so exceptional. The execution of the food and service was top notch. What an experience. Chef Yono is so nice and attentive. Truly a great restaurant.
My family and I went to celebrate my eldest daughter earning tenure. The staff was incredible as was the food. Each staff member congratulated her and she was given a special dessert to mark the occasion.
Dining experience at Yono’s was not like before. There was one main waiter and an assistant to serve 8 occupied tables so service was super slow. Food is not the same as before. The braised beef short rib my wife ordered was very dry and salty. She didn’t finish it. I got pan seared north Atlantic scallops with polenta (3 pcs scallops). I finished it even though it was very salty because I was starving. I ordered Pinot noir which never came. Dinner bread was very scant & very meticulously rationed. You can ask for a little more but you have to wait. It eventually came when we were almost done with our food. What happened to the prior 5 star rating? Not to mention the price, the only consolation was that they printed our names on top of the menu for our anniversary. That was a nice surprise!
The food was very good, as we had the 8-course tasting menu. There were a couple of surprises, however. The pork belly was pork loin, instead, and we were told we were getting their signature dish, short ribs, and received lamb chops instead. This wasn’t a huge deal, but it did surprise us.
The parking situation was unusual as we pulled into the parking lot for the hotel and were told we could not park there, even though the lot was not full. We ended up parking in a paid lot and had to go out around mid-meal to pay for more hours. This was the case because the whole meal took more than 4 hours, even though the restaurant was less than half full. This is much longer than it had to take.
We are still giving the experience 4 stars, and may return to really try the short ribs, however, we would probably shy away from the 8-course marathon.
The entire staff was very attentive. The food was excellent.
Amazing wine selection and service
From the moment we sat down, we felt so welcome. The little touches of complementary Prosecco and our names on the menu went a very long way. Our server was absolutely amazing. Personable yet professional. I observed how she talked on and on about wines with a table near us and you could tell she really had a passion, it was refreshing to see. The food was nothing less than outstanding. It’s been two days and I am still thinking about how good the duck was. This was the perfect place for an anniversary dinner and I’m already counting the days until my 5th anniversary and we’re able to celebrate at yonos once again. Thank you for an unforgettable 4th anniversary.
Great for a special occasion. The servers were extremely attentive.
I am a lifelong chef with 4 decades of experience, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a veteran from the Boston culinary scene. My wife and I just moved to the Albany area and treated ourselves to the 8 course tasting menu at Yono. The best dish was mediocre, the Beef Rendang, a supposed specialty of the house, was so salty it was virtually inedible. I prepared a 7 course tasting menu with a chef friend several weeks ago before our move and the least inspired, least outstanding dish we made outshone anything I tasted at Yono. Not to confuse food with service, as often happens, our server(s) were friendly, knowledgeable and competent, and I tipped accordingly. However my guest check wasn't for service, and that's a lot of money to spend for mediocrity. My guess is that chef/owner Purnomo no longer runs the kitchen full time and it would appear the restaurant is surviving on reputation. A thorough dissapointment.
Very nice experience for my wife's birthday. Staff were very attentive, food presentation very good. Overall, an wonderful dining experience.
As always at Yono's our food was creative, well presented and flawlessly prepared. This particular evening we chose house-selected wine pairing for each course and the pairings were outstanding, a few I would call extraordinary. Yono's is a gem in the Capital Region not to be missed.
We’ve had the pleasure of dining here twice. We were just passing through town and feel lucky we found this gem in downtown Albany! The food, service and atmosphere couldn’t be better! So happy we chose the tasting menu with paired wine. The sommelier and fellow servers were so knowledgeable and warm, they created a very magical evening!
Food was phenomenal. Our servers were outstanding-so knowledgeable and friendly. Only wish some of our fellow diners had shown up more groomed for the occasion. Will definitely return for our next celebration.
