This was our first time here. We searched on YELP and we ended up finding this place with great reviews and great photos of food. Our server was very friendly and he was very helpful with the menu. Overall food was great from appetizers to main dishes down to the dessert. I would highly recommended coming here especially since it's off the strip and you can enjoy your food and relax at the same time
Japanese tapas, so delicious! We went with the eight-course tasting menu, which is designed to introduce newbies to Yonaka to their most popular dishes. We did NOT regret it (and it was a great value!).
Fresh, unique, delicious. Never disappoints. Each time you go there are new and more creative items on the menu.
Had a great dinner with a friend here. The dishes are creative, fresh and delishous. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I ordered 3 of the cold plates and we were amazed at how delicious and different they were from the type of Japanese food that we are accustomed to eating. Each dish was a beautiful presentation layered with many flavors and textures that went together so perfectly. We also tried the Hamachi Kama which was crispy and delicious with perfect accompaniments of preserved lemon and pickled vegetables. The food accompanied by the well timed presentation of our dishes made for a wonderful evening. We were so pleased that we decided to get away from the strip and enjoy this local gem of a restaurant!
Great sushi. Fish was fresh and delish. They need a Godzilla roll though!
We have eaten at Yonaka a number of times and have recommended it to several friends who also loved it. We were excited to take another couple with whom we were visiting from Phoenix. The restaurant was busy but not packed. Waitress came over promptly and took our order for drinks and food. My beer came out right away but the cocktails had still had not arrived after twenty-five minutes. The food starting coming out slowly. Fifty minutes after we placed our order, our last dish, a poached salmon, still wasn't out. I flagged the waitress and told her to just cancel it but she said it was coming up right then. After another five minutes, it finally arrived and was almost certainly rushed as the entire filet was under-cooked. At this point, we just decided that we were done with dinner so did not complain. We will be trying some of the other amazing Asian restaurants in the area on our next visit to Las Vegas
The food was creative and delicious. The Chef appreciates ingredients and how to prepare them with out spoiling natural flavors. This is not a sushi place. Yonaka Modern is far more sophisticated and thought provoking than that. No fancy dress, just pure palate pleasing flavors and visual presentations. Try the omakase menu to really understand all that it has to offer.
service is a bit slow but they are very attentive. When I mentioned I only want low mecury fish, they went through great pain to help me make the selection. Some dishes are exceptional like Seebass Crudo, but some are just ok
Fantastic food! Great happy hour prices, but don't make a reservation if you want to take advantage of the happy hour deals- they have some strange issue with this... even though the restaurant was fairly empty when we were there.
Definitely not your ordinary sushi restaurant. The food and presentation was amazing!!
Always find this restaurant to be one of Las Vegas' gems off the beaten path of the strip and away from the crowds. Fresh, creative Japanese style cuisine at its very best! Don't miss this place when you are in Vegas!!
Just off the strip on West Flamingo, this is truly a gem. The fish is very fresh and the cold and hot dishes are so imaginative and flavorful.
Service is excellent. We always include at least one meal at Yonaka every time we visit Vegas.
The standouts this time around were the tea-smoked ribs, the yellowtail sashimi (as always) and the Saki Orenji. Outstanding value for the money. You would pay at least twice as much if this was located in one the big hotels.
Many thanks for another memorable dining experience.
I have a bad food allergy. They tried their best to accommodate me. They're the best. Much appreciated!!
Yonaka Modern Japanese is about the last kind of restaurant I expected to find in Las Vegas. Away from the Strip and all that bling, Yonaka maintains a traditional Japanese dining experience albeit in a modern ambiance. Staff knew the menu inside and out and were able to make some very good suggestions. After a week of convention food, I was ready for something excellent and authentic. Yonaka delivered on both counts. A nice bar, too, with some beverages I hadn't seen in America before. I'll be back!
Our second visit, really great food, and better hand normal value for Vegas. It's worth the trip off the strip, just a few mins in a cab. Go there and pick a 4-5 dishes each and share, for a great food experience
Off the beaten path but worth the trip. Everyone busted my chops for not staying near the way-too-busy strip but afterwards thanked me for a good pick.
All the food was excellent, fresh and well presented, we mainly had sushi and sashimi, but the sides and appetizers were also very tasty. Especially the roasted Brussel sprouts of all things!
Service was a bit slow but we weren't in a hurry so it was not too bad
We went here thanks to the Great Review's on TA.I am a Coeliac and my wife cannot cope with Garlic. It was just too hard the Waiter did not have a Clue and when he approached the Chefs you could see they were not Interested.
There answer to Gluten free is the Dish with no Sauce what a Joke.My wife was handed a Bowl of Sashimi Tuna that was Awful.
I went home Hungry but it was a very cheap meal,
My friend and I select a new restaurant each month to dine at. Because Yonaka staff and food selection has given us that positive energy and new understanding of our food palate, we have decided that Yonaka is the perfect place to begin our dining adventure each year.
The food was excellent. Creative Japanese at its finest. We had the 8 course tasting menu. Each course was delicious, but our favorites were the crispy brussel sprouts and the lobster dish. Dessert was incredible as well. The service was attentive. Wish we lived here so we could go back soon!
Amazing food!! Nigiri is unreal and the fat duck roll is amazing! Great cocktails and wonderful dessert.
The restaurant was too busy so the dishes for omakase were delayed throughout the entire experience. The dishes also lacked consideration and care.
The food was excellent. Went with the 8-course Omakasen meal, and every item was prepared beaut
Went to Yonaka for Christmas Dinner. Service was excellent. Server answered all questions and made recommendations, which we went with. To our delight, we were very happy with everything from appetizer to dessert. Will definitely return to Yonaka whever we visit Vegas.
I came with my boyfriend is Japanese and get disappointed dinner that late night.
A find! The food and the presentation of it was exceptional. We will be back.
Saw good reviews online but was a little concerned by the lack of traditional sushi rolls. No regrets.... Every dish was awesome. Go with the server's recommendations, I will definitely be going back. Very unique dishes!
Good food is aplenty in Las Vegas. For sushi lovers like my daughter and myself, there are plenty of well-known places to chose from. But, we decided to try a new place recommended by Trip Advisor, Yonaka. We went on a Sunday night so it wasn't crowded. Our server was very attentative and helpful and and the food was killer. Although we went primarily for the sushi, we had 3 vegetable dishes that were outstanding. The chef blends a combination of sauces and spices that were just delicious. The presentations were so pretty too. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. Will definitely return on the next trip. Highly recommend it.
The mango cotta is a one of a kind desert I've never seen before that tasted amazing!! It looks awesome and has multiple tastes.
We have loved Yonaka for dinner many times, surely the best sushi in town. So when we went for our birthday lunch to find the menu in a small clipboard, we were heartbroken. Nothing we wanted was available. They should state this on website.
After eating her several times, I am happy to say that the selection, quality, and service are still amazing. This visit was to reunite with old friends, and the evening was next to perfect. The only suggestion/slight concern we experienced was how long it took for cocktails to be made, otherwise, the evening was a success!
What a hidden gem. My friend and I wanted to dine away from our conference and off the strip. This was a quick cab ride from the Rio and an absolute gem to find. We had such a good time. Never felt rushed. Had two flights of sake each, three rolls, edamame and brussel sprouts. Our waiter also brought us the orange salmon (Get it--it is heaven!!!). Everything was delicious! Truly a fantastic evening--good food, good drink, good friend :-)
Prices are higher than on previous visits slightly and food not quite as tasty.
Their feng shui could also be improved.
This was my first visit, and it was for lunch, which is a completely different menu than what they offer for their dinners. That was what attracted me, getting to try some traditional food with a little different spin, but we saw another table leave when they discovered that sushi was not on the lunch menu.
We had the omelet with shrimp and scallops--lots of nice pieces of both, which pretty much made up for the fact that nothing else came with the omelet. We also had the hamburger, which came with french fries which were just about the best fries I have had in many years. The hamburger was big and messy, but maybe a little overwhelmed by the sauteed onions and other toppings so the hamburger taste didn't make it through everything else that was going on. Our last indulgence was the Hojicha (green tea) milkshake. Delicious and different. I watched them make it and you could see the time and care they took to get the orange peel and the orange zest on the drink just the way they wanted it.
I'm looking forward to trying lunch again and also a dinner sometime. The place was pretty empty for lunch, so it may be that their current lunch menu undergoes a change at some point, but I hope not.
Everything was fresh and well-balanced. They gave a modern twist to Japanese cuisine which I truly appreciated.
Excellent sushi and flavors. Best food we had in Vegas!
This restaurant is a gem hidden away from the strip. It's definitely worth venturing out for good sushi... there's plenty on the strip and in the hotels, but the food here was delicious! The chefs were amazing, and everything was EXCELLENT!
It was a nice discovery of a new style Japanese cuisine. We often go to Japan so we are familiar with traditional Japanese. And we discovered new flavors and new harmonies
this was a real find off and away from the Las Vegas strip, food was special and delicious, prices were very reasonable. The crispy calamari was outstanding and the service was impeccable
