What Insiders Are Saying
Yona is a ramen spot in Arlington that plays Biggie and works for a date or dinner with a friend.
Great food and an amazing deal but it was kind of loud. We were glad the place wasn’t packed!
Amazing food and very intimate staff, they we're good at picking up finished plates but didn't interrupt conversation. Highly recommend.
Slightly sloppy sloppy in fabrication and presentation albeit delicious, we got three different types of sushi: “caterpillar” (with tempura crab, roe, spicy jalapeño sauce, cucumber and avocado), “volcano” (with bbq eel and spicy red pepper sauce), and “spider” (with tempura shrimp, avocado, roe, aioli). My two (we shared all three but I ordered spider and caterpillar) were on one plate and not as ‘tight’ in roll as needed. Don’t get me wrong - we ate all and it was good just messy and honestly why not beautiful and perfect since they only had 6 people to focus on? Drink orders promptly taken but once empty water refilled but no one asked if we wanted more to drink or another drink. Sunday night lethargy after busy Saturday? Maybe. We were last out and only one of three tables- small place bistro seating maybe seats 25 maximum. We might go back to try sandwiches and or ramen but I’m ok if we find other Arlington places to try. Ultimately, not enough ‘non-sushi’ entrees? Maybe
GET THE PORK BUNS!
We ordered the Brussels sprouts, tonkatsu buns, and two rolls (spicy tuna and volcano). The Brussels sprouts were delicious and I would highly recommend them to anyone coming. The buns and sushi were good as well, but nothing especially unique or special. However, the decor and service made up for it, and I would probably come again to sample the rest of the menu.
Skip the sushi and go straight for the hot and cold Asian fusion items. Sushi was average at best. The buns are amazing. The crab conquets were equally incredible.
I loved the place, quiet and clean. The food tasted very fresh and delicious.
Great dinner experience and excellent service.
Great selection of sushi and unique steamed buns. Also had poke bowls which we love. Smaller portions than expected for price, but overall was great and would go again.
Always love going to Yona. This is one of my favorite japanese restaurants in town!
Wonderful ramen and buns at this neighborhood gem.
Lots of hard surfaces, and close tables, so it can get a little noisy and hard to have a private conversation at times.
Food is worth the trip.
Great food and attentive servers. Ramen and sushi were delicious. Cool atmosphere.
Sushi was pretty good, but the Brussels sprouts were amazing.
Yona offers nicely-prepared, solidly good food, well-served in a pleasant setting and central location.
Yona is a small, contemporary Japanese restaurant in Arlington. Our Server was excellent and very helpful. We requested help in translating the menu and she helped us chose a simple lunch of sushi and soup bowl. The "Caterpillar Sushi" was outstanding delicious and creative! The Chicken Ramen Soup was comforting and plentiful. (My wife preferred the Sushi. She scallions are not her favorite.)
We would recommend Yona to our friends and we will definitely visit Yona again.
We love every dish on the menu! They’re very delicious and very different than the ones we tried before at any other restaurants. This was our second time to the restaurant . It didn’t fail us again. Service was amazing. Our server she was very smiling and polite. I love how they serve the sake in panda cups and you can get to save them !! So fun! Definitely a BIG recommendation!
Great service and preparation of the food!
First visit - we'll be back. We ordered several items - chicken with a kick, sushi, poke, buri - all were superb. Very attentive staff - thanks, Dragana.
It’s very good sush!!!!
Great food, especially for those who like Japanese and Korean small dishes. Main course, like donburi, come with a wide variety of add on side dishes, e.g. kimchi, seasoned eggs, which are my favorites.
Phenomenal food, probably the best sushi we've found in the DMV area. Amazing service as well.
Great experience ! Will be returning in near future!
Fantastic restaurant with great food and service. Great to order multiple small plates for sharing.
Friendly yet detached service. Good quality fish. Limited choice and of those choices, many intriguing and good.
Amazing steamed buns! Great value, too; you get three buns with one order. The drinks are strong and the drink menu has a lot of variety. Service was good too. The curry chicken ramen and the miso porky ramen is alright.
I think the price and menu don't match the aesthetics or ambiance of the restaurant. Looks much more humble and casual than I expected. The food is excellent however.
The Chardonnay brut sparkling wine was amazing!
Very good Sushi, but I do not understand no happy hour at the table. Only the bar that seats 10 people. What happens if more people KMan I want to do happy hour but they can do it at the table in the bar is full and it’s not fair to everyone else
Smaller than you would think. Very good happy hour prices
Some hiccups in our food orders but overall delicious.
I loved my cocktail. I also liked my meal although it was very small portion and never felt filled. And my friends were not happy with their food.
Delish, well prepared foods, good wines, and great desserts! Service was super attentive!
Great food and atmosphere
We arrived fifteen minutes before Yona’s kitchen was to close. We were the last reservation but they treated us like we were the first of the evening. We were not rushed to order or to eat. Food, Service, and Value is Always Excellent!
Not a large dining area but they accommodated a group of 10 for us for an early birthday dinner. Food was creative!
Great food, bad service. The buns and tonkatsu were unbelievable! The edamame was not salty, but it had other spices. Good deal if you sit at the bar for happy hour.
It was great. Friendly staff and great food. Wish the place was a bit bigger, felt a bit crowded but overall it was great.
I come to Yona for lunch with a colleague who likes to share, which is great because we can try more food. All the food is amazing! I love the Crispy Beef steamed buns and the Poke bowls. All the noodle dishes are excellent - very flavorful.
This was our second time at Yona and it was wonderful - again. The vegetable base Poke bowl was so fresh, the flavors just explode in your mouth. The sushi was equally as good. Also, don't miss their cocktail list: "Friends Don't Lie" is wonderful.
The food was tasty enough but the portions were small. It's kind of an Asian tapas restaurant. As a result, we ended up paying a fair amount of money for not quite enough food. The service was also kind of spotty. It took a long time for anyone to take our orders, especially given that the restaurant was not full and servers seemed plentiful. However, once the orders were in, the service was adequate. Would be an OK spot if you're looking for a snack and a drink.
