The Authentic Greek Recipes Bring The Tastes Of Years Of Tradition On A Plate .
I am Greek and I thought the eggplant had no tase to it, the chicken hillopitas wasn’t good either. The salad had no dressing meaning not even a drop of olive oil. Not a good experience and I cook Greek so I know what to expect. Highly disappointed in the meal and will not be going back. I feel badly too because I try to support my ethnic people but this time I can’t.
There was only one server. It was opening night for Hello Dolly at PPAC. We place our order, appetizers, salad and main dish. We got it all at once? What??? He return main fish than had to ask for it. It was lukewarm. Will not rush back.
Had a reservation but was told to sit anywhere and I didn’t need reservation. Only one server who also worked as cashier. Needless to say service was lacking. Was excited to try this place but may not return unless it’s to order to go. Ambience was great and interested in trying other options in the menu but recommend they address service. Not the waiters fault but he could not do everything on his own.
We came two days after Valentine's Day and were given a Valentine's Day menu with many options not available. Yes, we were eating left overs. Dinner came cold. The plates were cold thus the food was cold The service was slow and the server was a bit snippy.
Great place for a quick bite before the theater. Great food.
It took one hour to get our second course. Service was very scattered.
Limited Valentine’s Day menu very expensive and not very good
Food was very good, service was excellent.
Authentic Greek cuisine. Very good martini s. Attentive service. Great location for pretheater dining- very short walk to Providence Performing Arts center
We had a reservation for lunch but when we arrived we learned that there is no service at lunch and certainly no need for a reservation. That didn't make for a relaxing pre-theatre experience for women in their 80's. We were even more disappointed that no one even offered to carry our trays to the table for us. The food was good enough that I would return if there were service. The ambience was unique and enjoyable.
We arrived late for our reservation, however they still sat us in the order came in which was fine! After that thought dinner went downhill - everyone that came in after us was served and left the restaurant before we’d even finished our food. We had gotten there with enough time to spare before our show, and we made it just barely for the curtain. Really disappointed by the lack of availability of staff, and concerned about being forgotten despite being literally in the middle of the walkway. (Also, table in the middle of the walkway...). The food was great, but it overall was really disappointing and stressful experience for us. The server was new, and when we’d asked about wine he didn’t know but also didn’t offer to direct us to anyone who could answer our questions. It felt really dismissive.
Loved it. I can't believe I waited so long to try it.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful the family that owns this restaurant is and the individuals who work there. We made 4 pm reservations for New Years Eve a month in advance. The owner called me to let me know they were closing at 5 pm on New Years Eve and realized that was not reflected through Open Table. He wanted to understand and ensure we had the experience we were hoping for. He kept our reservation, took our dinner orders in advance and kept the restaurant open until 6 p.m. The food is always exceptional and it was that night as well. Truly above and beyond service. They have been my favorite Greek restaurant in Providence, RI and this experience has simply reinforced that.
How delightful to arrive for lunch to find live music . A sax player doing holiday songs so lovely very relaxing and inciting.
Our food was fantastic the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant . This is my 5th time at the restaurant it will not be my last.
Food is very good. Service was lacking. Understaffed and not well trained. Perfectly nice servers, but forgotten orders, lack of attentiveness, and loads of apologies.
Yolenis should invest in training servers to handle busy evenings.
Food was tasty but overcooked and took a long time to arrive. Appetizer never showed up. Charged us for large wine glasses although we did not order large. Waitress complained the whole time. Worst service imaginable.
We ended up getting there late due to traffic so we had to grab a quick bite
but the meals/dinners looked very good. The appetizers were fantastic. The spinach salad was disappointing. Not much on it other than green olives (which were great), spinach and dressing..
Slow services waited more than an hour for food, food was cold, waiter must be related or owner because he was awful, got up three time for more water to the point I got it myself (yes you read correctly-got it myself). Avoid this place because it will not get you to the show on time and back to work. If you do go plan for 2 hours for this quick dinner and bring your own bar and microwave.
Without a doubt, we would recommend this restaurant. Delicious Greek comfort food and we loved the marketplace.
Service was slow. Restaurant seemed overwhelmed by theater crowd. Waited 1 hour for food and then order was wrong. Hot dish was lukewarm when served.
Good place for dinner prior to a show at PPAC. Only 1.5 blocks
We continue to go back to Yoleni's for the great food! The service once they get things together is fine however at times there seems to be some disconnect with the kitchen timing vs. the servers. They usually get it together but make sure you're not in a hurry. There are two areas, one is take out or pick up and you order at the register. The other is table service. The first floor usually gets seated first but you can sit upstairs which might be better in the winter as there is no entry in front of the main door which is right by many of the tables on the first floor so cold air tends to blow in frequently if they're busy. Everything I have tried is EXCELLENT as far as the food. Eggplant spread is one of my favorites. Baklava is pricey but big enough for 2-3 people and one of the best I've had. We'll continue to go back to Yoleni's for sure.
The food here is delicious and authentic and I loved shopping for various treats after dinner. The night we dined there was lovely live music. Will definitely be visiting Yoleni's again soon!
We went to Yoleni for dinner having been there for lunch several times. We loved the appetizer spreads with pita -- could have made a meal of those. My main course --eggplant with chopped meat and béchamel sauce -- was quite good. One of my dining companions loved his entree but the other two were underwhelmed and one was surprised that the Greek salad had no greens. Our server was very friendly, but although we had told him that we had to leave by a certain time because we were going to a concert, there was a long delay in getting the coffee and dessert we ordered. We were preparing to leave when they arrived. All in all, Yoleni (especially the gourmet products choices) is a great addition to the Providence food scene even though I can’t give it more than 3.5 stars.
Made a reservation for lunch because OpenTable allows it. I arrived with my guests to a fast casual restaurant and not a seated lunch. The food expediter was rude and acted like I had 40 heads for asking her to help me bring the mediocre food to our table. Obviously not her job but considering I was expecting a seated lunch it was frustrating.
I went on a Wednesday night with my sister before seeing a play at the PPAC. The restaurant is in walking distance and I was able to park on the street close by. I was surprised by how quiet it was in there considering it was a theater night. The service was great. Food was amazing. Stuffed grape leaves for an app, spicy meatballs and stuffed eggplant for main dishes. Absolutely delicious. I’m looking forward to going back again! I’m going to spread the word!!
Food was very good. However, front of house service was poor. Not greeted upon entering and host ignored guests - not making eye contact. Unfriendly demeanor. Once seated, took too long to order. Was not waiter’s fault - he seemed to be serving too many tables. He apologized for wait. Food was good but lots of restaurants in Providence to put up with less than friendly atmosphere.
Hiden Gem! We had fantastic apps, tried great Greek wine and the main course was awesome. Very authentic and flavorful! Causal and good prices. The whole experience was great.
Thank you, we will be coming up with many new exciting choices very soon as well!
I am not a picky eater. I tend to like everything I get from any restaurant and this was very disappointing. Lack of flavor, food served cold. I was so excited to try this place, bit it really let me down.
Went there before a concert at PPC. Food was great, service was perfect. Definitely recommend
Short servers & valet did not show up, so difficult to order, get food in timely manner.
The ambience is not your traditional restaurant as it’s mixed with a market place but the decor is perfect & the food is phenomenal. There was a live musician playing, which created a great atmosphere. The service was a bit slower at times but all of the staff was friendly & personable.
I absolutely love their marketplace. Their Greek yogurt is heavenly- highly recommend!
Great service. Nice waitress. Nice upstairs dining area. The meatball dish was outstanding. Loved the octupus app.
The portion size of the salmon quinoa salad leaves a lot to be desired. I asked to see the regular and large plates. I chose the large. I’d hate to see the regular portion. Not a good value at $14.50. This photo is after taking a few forkfuls, including one of the 3 pieces of smoked salmon.
Perfect service, beautiful atmosphere. Exotic flavors ! Perfectly prepared and presented dishes. Overall a delightful dining experience !
Good food. Nice atmosphere. Fabulous , live Greek music.
Excellent all around!
There was one waitress for a full restaurant. She did an excellent job but the wait was still long. He needs to hire more help.
This was our third or fouth visit to Yoleni's but first time going pre-theater. They were clearly understaffed for the large pre and post theater crowds which was very disappointing. We had plenty of time so we were not rushed but the staff could have been more apologetic. The food was good although the hummus was not up to normal standards, we enjoyed all of the other spreads we ordered. We did tell the waiter that the hummus was not as they normally serve, (the color was green vs normal tan) and he said it looked fine to him and that's the color of their hummus. The entrees were good but again, not up to the kitchen's normal standards. We'll most likely give them another try but not pre or post theater... they can't handle the crowds.
Yoleni's offers takeout which you can order by calling the restaurant at (401) 500-1127.
Yoleni's is rated 3.4 stars by 100 OpenTable diners.
