Yerba Buena Perry - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
They have the BEST guacamole in town. Good cocktails. Watermelon fries were interesting, worth the try. The meat platter for 2 was not worth ordering (the ribeye was full of fat, uneatable and under cooked, waiter did not ask for doneness; chorizo and short rib were dry dry dry; bone marrow was super greasy and had no seasoning). Very dry chicken breast in the arroz con pollo. And they ran out of the 2 desserts we wanted to order! Would go back for drinks and guacamole only.
I've been here many times.
The service is wonderful.
When Paulie is tending bar, you never want to leave because the drinks are works of art.
But when he isn't the drinks are so-so.
Rebecca is charming, welcoming, attentive and gracious.
Now for the downside.
The appetizers are absolutely delicious but expensive for a tiny portion.
The large plates are sort of hit and miss.
The preparation of the main entree can be Interesting but the side dishes are extremely mediocre.
Sadly the last time my husband and I were there the rice was inedible, the beans were bland and the tostones were like stones.
I'm not giving up on this place because it has been wonderful.
So maybe it's just going through a little rough patch.
Great spot to grab dinner in the West Village. I brought friends that were visiting NYC for dinner at six on a Saturday. It was pretty quiet when we showed up and we were seated right away. The restaurant filled up quickly. The service was great, as was the food! I'd definitely go back or try the East Village location.
I went to Yerba Buena for Valentine's Day, and I was happy to see a 5-course, prix fixe menu for $85 (with a bottle of champagne or unlimited margaritas). It sounded like a great deal, but we were ultimately disappointed and wished we had gone elsewhere. The flavor of the food was great, but the portions were incredibly small and left us hungry at the end of the night. It's too bad, but I don't think I'll be coming back here any time soon.
This is a small restaurant, very intimate. I wouldn't recommend going with a group larger than 10 people. The service and food here was great. our waiter was very attentive. I went with a group of 7 people and everyone enjoyed the drinks, appetizers, meals, and desserts. We had a very good time.
Tasty food, huge portions for a NY reasonable price ($30 and under). The exception is the guacamole. While good, it was a small portion. It was also not green. Again, tasted good, but wasn't visually what one would expect. Arepas were delicious. The dinner portions were huge--from the steak to the black cod to the braised ribs. In particular, the braised ribs were very flavorful and the quinoa in place of fried rice was a perfect healthier substitute. In fact, it tasted better. You will not leave hungry. Cocktails superb and the happy hour ($8) deal is not to be missed.
Had an amazing experience here. The food was fantastic but what was most notable was the service. Our waitress was amazing! The boozy brunch special can't be beat. If you are looking for a quiet brunch this is not the place though. It is LOUD. But great spot overall.
Came here for brunch with a friend on a Sunday. It was a last minute choice to go here, but I'm absolutely glad we went! The brunch deal was great - 1 hour unlimited brunch drinks (and you can mix and match!). The mimosa was delicious and not watered down with too much OJ (!!) Definitely try the watermelon fries. They changed my life.
Went here for brunch. My friend and I both had the eggs Benedict. The food was amazing, but service was very slow. The noise level was also incredibly loud, to the point where we had to yell across our small table just to hear each other. My ears were ringing for a few hours even after we left. I would go back because the food is excellent.
Went to Yerba Buena Perry early on a Friday evening on our way to a jazz set. The cocktails (mojito and Cholula) were excellent. We chose the special appetizer, which was crab "dip" served in a baked mini-pumpkin along with toasted bread. It was very flavorful. Service was prompt and attentive. This is NOT a Mexican restaurant as indicated on some of the maps, Latin American - yes, they have tacos (try the spicy lobster) - but there is really a mix of Latin American dishes.
Great food! The calamari with plantains were so good. Very unique. Went with four girls for a birthday on a Thursday. Not crowded at all. So surprised bc the food was delicious. Cozy atmosphere. Great cocktails. Would be good for a date too. Highly recommend.
What can be said that I didn't already rate. My friend and I had the prefixes menu with an extra special appetizer and split the 3 dishes. Plus we had the skirt steak chimichurri and deserts. All great food , amazing tastes and textures. Good place for a first date if your are out to impress. Staff was friendly , courteous and attentive. Highly recommend it.
Yerba Buena is a real neighborhood gem, really great food, with wonderful ceviches, great lobster tacos and many other delights. Service is super friendly, and the atmosphere is really relaxed and informal. Not a lot of wine to choose from, but not a problem as the ones they have are good. Great value for money
