Yellow Door Taqueria - South End
The weather was great for outdoor dining. Street noise was not a problem since it was a Sunday. The food was very fresh and well prepared. The Elote, Mexican roasted corn, is excellent as are the tacos and margaritas.
We sat outside on a lovely evening. The waitress was great, friendly with great suggestions for drinks. We tried 4 different cocktails and they were all great. Kudos to the bartender!
We also ordered the street corn and varieties of tacos, all good.
I would go back for sure
The margaritas here are creative and delicious. The tacos are also great and unique, but they are very very small for the price. The service was great. Definitely fun for a date night, but we left still hungry and got a pizza on the way home.
We have loved Yellow Door for a long time, but this was our first time at the Ink Block location. The tacos, elote, and frozen drinks were great. The food + service + location (outdoor seating) were perfect. Definitely will be back!
The atmosphere, staff and drinks were great. The guac and chips were ok. Elote was meh. The tacos were room temperature (or less than room temperature). I’ve eaten at the Dorchester location and EVERYTHING was always outstanding. I’m sorry to report that I was not impressed this time around.
As a fan of the original Yellow Door, this was my first time trying the South End location and it was just as good. Great service, event better food and drinks. If you are in the area, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't visit Yellow Door.
Delicious guacamole and queso. Small but very yummy tacos. Great jalapeno margarita.
It was excellent! The dips were fantastic, the service was awesome, and the margaritas are worth the trip themselves. Yellowdoor taco is exactly what the neighborhood needs. Definitely make a reservation and sit outside if you can!
I love the new patio. Great cocktails and tacos as always
Outdoors- food and setting were great!
Our lunch on the patio was perfect! The tacos are delicious — real corn tortillas ! And service waS fantastic and attentive. Two thumbs up
Great place to celebrate my moms 70th birthday! Delicious food, great drinks and amazing service! Shop local!
Everything was excellent! Great experience. We will be back soon!
The outdoor dining was wonderful! Tables felt very properly spaced out and a good mix of shade & sun. The servers were awesome and all of them were wearing masks! The food was absolutely delicious, definitely recommend the elote and scallop taco. Will definitely be returning!
We went right after they expanded patio space to make accommodations for COVID. The staff was super nice and service was great. Highly recommend.
I would recommend this restaurant for drinks after work, it is perfect. You can buy small plates and keep it individual. The drinks (great bar menu) and food are affordable and the proteins in the tacos are all truly delicious. Points for service, attentive and observing all precautions. Only downside was what a busy area this outdoor space is in. Loads of traffic, cars and people. I like this location 10 x more than Lions Gate and 5 x more than the Dorchester location. So great change!
Tables are nicely spaced out and the dining area was perfect. The scallop taco is by far my favorite - had to order another one! Will be back
Great food, service, and adherence to Covid19 regulations.
A fantastic dining experience on the patio! Wonderful service, great ambiance, and delicious food & drink!
Dined outside on the patio as dine-in isn’t allowed. Tables were distant, Service was great and very hands off so we felt comfortable
Always a great spot for tacos, loved the new South End location!
Yellow door has always been a favorite of ours and needed to be our first place to visit once outdoor seating was allowed. They have done such a great job adapting to the new guidelines while providing excellent service and delicious food!
Yellow Door Taco has an amazing taco menu - definitely try the chicken tinga (a classic), daily fish, pork belly, and scallop tacos! Their guacamole, elote, and cadillac marg - so good!
social distancing and servers were exceptional! They have made COVID dining safe and easy. I look forward to future visits.
First time out since quarantine and since having our baby in March! It was so nice! Thank you Yellow Door! Never disappoints!!!
We love yellow door. First week Boston restaurants reopen and they were able to keep everyone safe and still provide a great meal as usual! Good job Jarek and team!
Decent looking space designed Taniya Nyack, it's a kitschy caricature of an "authentic" Mexican place. It's Very energetic (read: LOUD) due to lots of hard surfaces (and loud patrons).
Pretty slow service and they were out of regular sangria (at a Mexican place?!) and only had some frozen sangria, so I ordered a Diet Coke they brought me Diet Pepsi that apologetic "is Pepsi OK?" ? They also walked by plates needing to be cleared on by our tiny table Multiple times. One runner was good and friendly, the rest seemed oblivious and unhelpful.
My friend who is half Chilean was unimpressed except by the empanadas -- which are the only thing NOT made in house. They are made for thr restaurant by someone else (Buenas in Somerville). Not good when the best thing on the menu isn't yours.
The tacos are tiny and impossible to eat with your hands, and the pork belly was bland and tough. The lamb barbicoa was better but still underwhelming
The tiny corn tortillas tasted almost not at all of corn
They are going for cool and trendy over making good basic food, which is a place called a taqueria should be making.
The restaurant, bathrooms, even the plates are cool and trendy, but the food and service are disappointing and won't merit a return visit with so many other cheaper (also disappointing) options around. If your going to settle for mediocre Mexican, it might as well be cheaper with better service.
It was fine. Nothing special - maybe I'm spoiled from briefly living in TX.
Went for an early dinner at 5, server was helpful in navigating menu. Ambiance great for date night. Favorites were empanadas papusas and carne Asada tacos. Would have liked a bit more booze in the margarita for price point.
Great atmosphere, great food, great value, excellent service. This is a fun spot at Ink Block that draws a crowd.
We sat at a round high top, four people. Definitely not enough room to eat dinner at. Was quite uncomfortable, irritating.
PRO TIP: Every trip to Yellow Door must start with an order of chips and guac. With our chips on the way, we each ordered a different margarita. The hibiscus, house, and strawberry+vanilla were our favorites of the night. For dinner, each of us ordered a few tacos--good news, they are decently sized and we didn't leave hungry! We each had a brussel sprout taco, but I am sad to admit that the brussel sprout taco could use a little more shaving as the full sized brussel sprouts made them half tasty/half tasteless. The daily fish was slightly more fried batter than fish, but seasoned and dressed fantastically. The carne asada was the best on the menu. And lastly, the carnitas held their own, but might not be a "need to order." Overall, we felt a little rushed out of our seats but the experience/decor/ambiance was fantastic and all of us will be back again for another girls' night out in the future. We even had friends meet us at the bar after and stayed for another hour trying more margaritas and tequila!
Everything was amazing! The food and service were perfect. Would highly recommend to anyone.
If you haven’t been to their original in DOT def take the time to come to the South End. This establishment is a can’t miss - good food, attractive staff, lively crowd, throwback music. 10/10
Delicious margaritas and guacamole!!
Such a cute restaurant, and the tacos were great!
Great service, food was very good (drinks were excellent). Wish they had option for flour tortilla on the tacos.
Noise level was VERY loud - I was at a small table and had to yell to speak to my friends. I would go back for a drink, but not for dinner on a Saturday night - too loud for me (I must be getting old haha :) ).
Very loud and food wasn’t very warm. Drinks were great though!
Amazing tacos! Tried several and they were all delicious.
Food was amazing!
